    hi @susy123

Yes, I have had it on more than one occasion. It does take some getting used to. It's one of those things that I found works better if you take it regularly rather than just when you're in pain as pain management when I was in constant chronic pain. It can make you very sleepy when you first start taking it so make sure you start maybe at a weekend so you can get used to it.

If you are taking it regularly you can't just stop taking it. You have to reduce your dose slowly over a number of weeks. By the time I went in for my hip replacement, I was taking 8 a day plus my buprenorphine patches.

    Hi Suzi123

I had it prior to my back surgery at the max daily dose with no problems. Post op I weaned myself off of it. Then I had a bad day tried to take them and felt so queasy!

Still I personally do fine the opioid type of painkillers can make me feel a bit squiffy. For me they are best taken at night or when I am in so much pain I am lying down anyway!

    Hope they help

Hi tramadol is helping me with pain, however I'm now constipated cant win lol. I have taken a full tin of prunes and juice and had senna last night. Hoping it will work.

    Oh dear Susy.

The senna should do the job. I suggest you drink extra fluid lots of it and if needs be I think the Dr or pharmacist can suggest something. When I was taking it I drank a small glass of sunsweet rune juice daily.

I have to admit i didn't realise how bad it would be at first so also had the same issue. It did resolve without any pharmaceuticals you'll be glad to know, but I am vegan (was vegetarian then) so my diet is pretty high fibre and i love my coffees and teas. I think hot drinks help.

I don't know how many you are taking so if you can mange on less pain wise might be worth a try?

    Best of luck

Hi I have had bran flakes this morning. I seem to be a better but I know I have to keep an eye on it. Taken fibre and fluids is the way forward. Thanks

    Hi @susy123

Unfortunately that is one of the side effects of Tramadol. Dark chocolate is good and nicer to eat too. Lactulose is also good and not too bad to take. That can be bought over the counter.

I have just been to gp and got some lactose and taking it now. I saw this lady from MSK. I'm sorry to say she was a waste of time. She said I have been referred for physio. I cant prescribe anything for you I'm not a gp. She showed me my xray on her laptop she couldn't print it off for me. None of the girls on reception could either. Definitely OA but classed as mild even though its bone meeting bone. I have it in my right ankle I believe. I just keep taking the tablets. I'm awaiting a phone call from citizens advice. It's a hard life if you dont weaken. You have no support.
