Wrist fusion

Hi, I had a wrist replacement in 2012 which has now come to the end of its life. I am now on the waiting list for a wrist fusion. Has anyone had this procedure and how are you managing after? Thanks in advance

    Hello @Davies and welcome to the community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that you will find that as well.

    I understand that you have had one wrist fusion and are now looking to have the second one done and wondering how it affects people.

  • Good morning Davies iv had both wrists fused thank's to a nice cab driver in the late 90s taking me though his wind screen of my bike..

    Had r one done in 97 left in 2005 best thing i did right one old surgeon 7 months in plaster new surgeon 3 weeks they take your ilac crest (top off hip bone) fut that in your wrist plate and 6 screws...

    Im a gardener so school gates were a problem to open but still doing my job 30 years on still do some of my sports as have arthritis in other places but bench press in the gym was a challenge still cycle scuba dive instructor 35 years...

    I did aikido for 25 years wrist locks were a challenge bit you get used to your wrist not bending if i finf the pics of my wrist xrays ill ping them over good luck with your surgery keep us informed thank's Peter..
