in Living with arthritis

Hello , I have had osteoarthritis for about 10years and just now the pain is hard to live with. My doctor who is lovely knows I try to take minimal meds. However sometimes the pain in my legs and feet is so bad the only thing that helps is 5mg of oxynorm liquid. Can anyone please suggest a med that helps without the risk of addiction having worked long ago volunteering with young addicts I know the dangers.

    Welcome to the versus arthritis forum.

    Other than suffering with Osteoarthritis myself I'm not qualified to suggest any specific meds that may be suitable.

    Hi @ carina

    I have suffered with osteoarthritis for about 15 years and until recently I have been on narproxen taken with Omeprazole for protecting the stomach. At first I just took them when the pain was difficult to bear but as my arthritis got worse I took them more regularly. They certainly did the trick for me up until the last year or two. My doctor had just taken me off them ad he thinks I've been on them long enough and I'm soon to be having a knee replacement. Hope this helps.
