Day 2 after surgery!
Woke up this morning extremely sore and stiff after a bad night's sleep.
But Kept on moving. Managed yo have a freshen up which was tricky but made me feel so much better. First time putting on my pants and trousers which was interesting. Hopefully I'll get the knack of this as not easy when you want bend more than 90 degree angle.
They took me gor an xray to check position of hip. This was very uncomfortable. They put you on a n inflatable bed linen. Once in xray room the blow it up to transfer you to the xray table then deflate that's the bit that hurts as it's a solid metal bed.
Once Back in the room and after some meds and rest I had my afternoon physio. I am now on crutches instead of zimmerframe. Walked a few more steps than yesterday and did some standing exercises.
SlowSlowly but surely getting there.
Xx

Hi. If it is of any help to you I found that getting dressed after my surgery it was easier to put a skirt on over my head and down the body that way. Also it had an elasticated waist and was slightly looser than usual as I didn't want anything too tight or rubbing over my wound area. That for me was easier and also didn't have to rely on my grabber. As for pants, well it does get easier with time! Slowly slowly you will get there. Take care.🙂

Thank you. That is a great idea. So hard to do with a grabber. X

Day 3
I completed the stairs with the physio this morning and it was not as difficult as I had imagined. Tiring but not too painful on the operated leg.
Physio was very happy with my progress and gave me the all clear to go home.
It is definitely more difficult when you first get back as the bed is different I don't have all the bars around that helped me on and off the bed at the hospital. Trying to work out new ways of doing it that doesn't take up all my energy.
But it's nice to be home. Xx

one of the gadgets I bought before my op. is called "Leg Up" { you can put a search in to Google ). Basically there is a loop at the top for your hand to hold and a loop at the other end for your foot to go in to, this helps to lift your leg up onto the bed. If you don't want to buy one you could always use a dressing gown cord and make a loop one end with that. Yes I missed the hospital bed with the hand button that could change your positions ( just what I could have done with at home ) 😃 I agree it is lovely to be home again. Take it easy and be kind to yourself🙂

Yeah i am using a dressing gown tie. It does help but I am trying my hardest to get on without it. My upper body is killing me never worked so hard. Yeah that would definitely come in handy finding it uncomfortable having my legs completely flat, aches behind the knees. Thank you I will ❤️

First night at home last night and actually slept better than I thought. Woke up a few times as stiff and to takes meds but on the whole a fairly decent night. Fingers crossed that continues.
Hard work doing all the exercises three times a day. But ensuring I do what I can, but I'm not forcing it if it's too sore like the physiosaid.
Had a couple of breakdowns today got emotional, mostly from being tired of laying on my back and struggling to get comfortable. trying to stay positive!! I can do this!! 💪

@emma86oneill well done for getting home so soon, it will slowly get easier but that feeling that everything is a long, tiring fight is so real, I know.
Hoping you have a good night's sleep tonight, I found most of the times I got emotional I was really tired, understandable and does get better with time. Take care.
