Mtx and Humira queasiness
Hello lovely people
I have had RA for many years. My last question was regarding anyone's experience taking Mtx and Hydroxychloroquine and I'm grateful for your answers and comments. Unfortuately it didn't work for me so I went on to Humira in place of Hydroxy, started back in October. I realise I am very lucky to have been given this drug as it is more expensive than the biosimilars, but my consultant agreed to give it a go. So for the past few days I have had really painful wrists and achy other joints and now feeling queasy too. Has anyone had this sort of reaction and do you think it might be down to something happening with my liver? I'm reluctant to contact rheumatology helpline as earlier in the year I seemed to be hassling them rather a lot and don't want to be labelled as the nuisance! Any comments would be very welcome.
Thank you in advance.

Hi @Nuthatch
First of all, never feel like a nuisance when calling rheumatology helpline - they are there to help and advise you and if you are worried about anything, they are the people to call.
Other members may come along to share their experiences of Humira, but while you’re waiting, have a look at the VA help sheet about Humira ( Adalimumab).
All the best,

Hello Nuthatch
I would echo Anna's comments, don't hesitate to contact your rheumatology advice line. Since I was first seen by the consultant in February I have had to contact the advice line so many, many times. Like you, I felt they would be getting sick of hearing from me but they insisted they were there to help and I wasn't a nuisance. They did all they could to help me and I haven't had to contact them for a couple of months now - because they finally seem to have got the medication right for me. Touch wood. Fingers crossed! But it takes a while to get things right as we are all different. So please ring them, don't suffer in silence.

Apologies for the slow response and thank you both, Anne and Eeyore (love your nickname!)
Things have calmed down a little, but I have left off the humira and methotrexate for a while due to high liver ALT level (109). I have put in a call to the helpline and am waiting for their suggestions as to what to do next.
Thanks again, this is a great resource when you're feeling desperate for just someone to offer some advice.
