a timely reminder @Trish9556 sometimes we need others to point this out. But I thought the knee issue was interesting as it has definitely held up my recovery thinking it was referred or nerve pain from my hip. Discovering it was all muscular, whilst still needing work, was very freeing. So thank you for taking time to encourage me.

Hi all, so I’m now 9 weeks out and check up with consultant went well at 7 weeks. He pointed out a degree of Trendelenburg Gait from years of arthritis. It seems my other hip is worse and needs doing so I'm back on waiting list for that. Working hard on physio to help both.

Things are moving on well, I'm walking further with just a walking stick mainly to prevent trips and falls +I have MS too).

Biggest frustration at the moment is I really can't sit comfortably even to have a chat with friends let alone watch a film. I get really uncomfortable and my bum and side of hip feels sore. Anyone else find this?

@Wobblylegs you are doing so well, and you are so right to realise it's best not to compare.

Hoping your progress continues, steady but sure. Take care.

Week 10 update and lots of my moaning from last week has disappeared. Sitting awhile in my recliner in the evenings instead of on the bed. Sat at cafe and enjoyed lunch. Walking with just a walking stick when out but only rarely in the house. The gait is a nasty one which may take some time to go away and will need some working on. Small gains are so precious in this marathon.
I see my osteopath regularly and took her advice re exercises. I didn’t get any physio treatment from my hospital just a handout and a booklet. Well the first few weeks their range of movement exercises were great. Beyond that the exercises were pictured using a 30 something, muscular male figure. I’m looking at the exercises and thinking it’s been 30 years since I could get into into that position 😂.
My osteopath looked at them for me and said immediately “well you can’t do that with your back”. So I have been using the before and after hip surgery exercises from this site, thank you Versus Arthritis as they’re working out great. I feel like I’m making progress instead of constantly in pain after exercising.
Just thought this might help those who like me are getting on in years and don’t feel able to do 3 sets of 10 squats every time 😂. Slowly and gently wins the race.

well done you are getting on really well. I know how you feel re. the physio exercises. I have had to cut back on the exercises as I too was finding that my left knee pain ( due to have TLH replacement soon/ TRH done last June ) was getting worse after doing all the given exercises. I have also gone back to doing the gentler before and after hip exercises. Slowly and gently is definitely the way forward. 🙂

Thank you, it's nice to hear others have had similar. I'm back on the list for a TLHR too. My knee pain I was getting was in my knee that's already been replaced. Turns out it just all muscular for too many reasons and I was ending up with pains in my back my other leg, just everywhere! So the right type of exercise appropriate for the individual is so important. Giving hand outs just doesn't work
