Hello All

I am new to this forum☺️

Please could those who have had THR with a spinal anaesthesia ( not epidural) tell me how long roughly it took them to get a little feeling back in there legs. I am anxious about feeling trapped!!

Also did the spinal effect your hearing??
Thank you in advance

@hipityhop Hello and welcome. I can't actually remember not having any feeling in my legs. They were heavy and swollen from the operation for a few days, but I could move them and get in and out of bed almost straightaway after surgery. I don't remember any effect on my hearing at all. Can you ask at your pre-op to get reassurance from your medical team? When will your surgery be?

Hi @hipityhop just wanted to say hello and welcome you on behalf of the moderating team. I see you have been able to search out threads which are relevant to your query about spinal anaesthesia already.

I hope you get some useful replies. Have you had time to read any of the threads by our hippies? Including, but absolutely not limited to Janlyn and @Trish9556, @alwayssewing and more recently @Wobblylegs So many have their surgeries done this way these days.

Wishing you the very best of luck and hope you'll keep posting

    Ellen.

    Hi @hipityhop

Not exactly what you are asking for - I had an Epidural for mine and the effects wore off pretty quickly once I came round after surgery. I had Inflatible boots on each leg afterwards that were constantly inflating and deflating.

@hipityhop - two weeks will soon be here. I made sure I had everything I thought I might need to hand and so I didn't have to bend and stretch too much, and bought in nutritious but easy to prepare food. Just really anything to make it as easy as possible.

Take care and all the very best.
