Hi everyone, Just looking to see if anyone else has had this issue. I'm on week 11 since my THR and trying to increase my walking. I've had issues all along with my hip flexors down through the knee into the lower leg. My osteo explained that it was due to stretching pulling and twisting during the operation plus many…

Up and downs
Well today started out quite well, good morning and even sat on the decking drawing, watching the birds and drinking a latte. Later on went inside to watch the tennis. Then the physiotherapist called from the hospital. I made the mistake of following her advice and put my legs up , even though I had no swelling. Then oh my…

I've discovered that I can put food like buttered bread into a freezer bag and then pop it into my pocket, whilst having two crutches. Screw lid hot drinks cup is good too, which I place in a bag around my next and then I am able to get food and…

Wondering about healing.
Does anyone else ever wonder how your body heals after an operation?

Physiotherapy wow
Gosh this being self disciplined with physio really does work. I can feel my body getting stronger every day, in small ways. Noticing small parts of muscles moving that didn't move a few days ago. Hip replacement recovery is what I like to call a slow burn, including what I was told, pacing, patience and perseverance. So…

Progress. Laying hip abduction no pain
Today as I did this excersize I included my prayer that Jesus would help my body. For the first time since the operation, 17 April, it did hurt after I slide my leg to the left. It's such a joy to see the healing of my body, God is so good.

Went to church.
It took me ages to get ready but it was so good to see friends and be around people again. Such a good thing for our mental health to be social and get out of our homes. It's good to be able to rest when I need to at home, sleep when my body tells me to. Still doing my physio but I'm so happy to be able to not be isolated…

Sleep patterns
Does anyone else find that after a hip replacement sleeping isn't regular? Sometimes I have a great sleep other nights not so good. I take paracetamol if I'm in pain but then I struggle to fall back to sleep. Any good sound advice would be so helpful.

Going out side ? Public places ?
What stage did people wait until going outside? I was figuring waiting until 8 weeks after operation, where risk of dislocation is lower. I've been out in the garden. How is it in places with lots of people ? How can I be safe and ensure I do not get knocked over or hurt ?

Spinal anaesthetic
Similar to me. Had hip replacement surgery and spinal anaesthesia. Was worried about it as thought I might be conscious. Remember slight scratch in spine and then woke surgery had been done. Felt OK after op and didn't feel sick afterwards.

Techniques for getting in and out of bed etc.
Could there be some information made available giving techniques for getting in and out of bed after hip replacement surgery. And also the car. Knowing things like this can greatly help with recovery. And for after the six week milestone when the person feels ready getting in and out of the bath.

First few weeks after hip replacement
Well I've finally had a total hip replacement 2 years 2 months after going on waiting list. Had it on Saturday, home on day 2. Feel like I've been run over, I know what's involved and expected pain but really aching. Taking cocodamol only for pain, constipation was grim after oxycodone in hospital but think I'm on top of…

It only…

Hip Replacement Surgery - The Rottinger Approach or Rapid Recovery
I have just read an article on my news feed from the Daily Mail on this new approach to hip replacement that enables patients to be up and walking out of hospital the next day with no crutches/sticks! I read on and it is already available in some private hospitals and surgeons from these hospitals are now passing their…
