Degeneration of the pubis symphysis

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in quite a while. I have degenerative disc disease, bulging discs S5/L1 trapping the sciatic nerve. This has resulted in permanent nerve damage. I also have arthritis in spine and hips and spinal stenosis.

This year things have got worse. The pain has intensified and any activity I do results in pain and stiffness. I feel generally unwell and extremely fatigued. I am a teacher and am on long term sick. This will have to be the year I retire due to this.

My GP has referred me to a rheumatologist as my history is close to the symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis. I also have psoriasis so want to rule out psoriatic arthritis as well. She sent me for a pelvic xray as last one I had was in 2013. I expected the hip arthritis to have got a lot worse but it hasn't. I have now been told there is marked degeneration of the pubis symphysis joint. I'd never heard of it but the symptoms I am getting fit.

Has anyone else had a similar history or been diagnosed with degeneration of the pubis symphysis?

I am really hoping that there's something they can do to alleviate the pain.

Thanks for reading my ramblings.

Best wishes, Lil

Hi @Lilydog66 - I'm so sorry that you are having such a rough time at the moment.

I found an old thread where this is discussed, you might want to read through the comments on it.
