increased joint pain with bp medication
I was put on medication for high blood pressure in early March and pain jn my knee and foot joints has increased hugely. I've tried two different types, now kn an ACE inhibitor, but the stiffness snd aching remains. Feels as if someone poured cement into my legs and like there's a compression band around legs from the knees down. I'm on list for surgery for both knees but this pain is way worse than before the medication. Has anyone else experienced this as a side effect of high bp medication?

Morning @Minty sorry to hear your concerns about BP and medication.
Have you discussed with your doctor/consultant ?
I would also make a diary and take photos as evidence to show them.
I am sure others will connect with you soon.
Best wishes @Naomi33

Hi @Minty How annoying you need to get your BP down if it's dangerously high, but I think joint pain is a known side effect of ace inhibitors. I don't know what to suggest other than talking to your Drs as Naomi suggests.
How awful sounds like you're stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I hope someone can help

Minty I’m so sorry you are going through that type of pain. I am experiencing the same thing for some reason various types of blood pressure medicine causes extreme pain in my lower extremities. This is probably my third bout of it and ive seen an orthopedic doctor for my knees and back I had surgery on my back in 2015. It was suggested that I have knee surgery but that I haven’t had. The first time this happened that left me unable to walk, I stop the BP medication I was on Statin. 3 different ones 2 was stop , The pain and assistance of a walker and cane all done away with I was back to normal but still struggle with high blood pressure and once again I’m here again in the same situation. The struggle is real. I’m seeking answers also

Hello @ladyJ
Welcome to the forum, its great to have you here with us and thank you for posting. I really hope that your GP will be able to find an answer to your pain and BP. Do you think the knee pain could be addressed if you need surgery? Just a thought, sometimes I find pain easier to deal with if I am sure of the cause.
Best Joanne
