Feeling scared

Hello,

I am about to begin RA treatment in the form of Quinoric, and am feeling very sad and worried after reading some very negative reviews. Has anyone here had a positive experience?

I am 36 years old and have two small children, and am also worried about the initial settling stage in terms of likely side effects and how I will manage childcare as I navigate this.

I am feeling very lonely and sad and anxious about everything. :(

So sorry you feel like this. Its good to connect with others in the same boat. I felt like this and I'm a bit older with no childcare worries but felt really depressed at diagnosis. You're not alone in feeling like you do, which made me realise I wasn't being daft feeling that way. Hope you get some help and support. Sending love

@lovei I am so sorry you feel sad and alone. You are not however alone. This is a very supportive community. We have all been through this. Quinoric is a very mild drug, known by its generic name here HCQ. It is a an anti-malaria tablet that happens to also be effective against RA. Most of us here are on pretty heavy duty RA drugs to calm down our raging immune systems, usually MTX.

Quinoric or HCQ is very well tolerated, not heard of side effects in the short term. Your RA must have been deemed mild by your rheumy for you to be given this drug instead of the bazooka we have to use!

The good news is that you can enhance the management of your RA, and if you search for my posts, you will find links to podcasts and websites by rheumatology researchers suggesting what you can do to help yourself. Your Diet triggers as you might expect, are a major contributor.

    Keep in touch!

Hi @lovei I just wanted to let you know my experience with HCQ. I've been taking it now for about 2 months and I have had absolutely no problems at all. We are all different and all react differently to the disease and the treatment but I just hop this is encouraging for you.

    All the best

    Mary
