What to expect before, during and after surgery
I live in Portugal and have heard only favourable things about surgery here. I have been told I need two new knees, and have been put on a waiting list. The waiting time is 6 to 12 months.
I have no idea what to expect. I have been told in the UK that I cannot have general anaesthetic due to atrial fibrillation.
My house has many stairs, and I have 15 steps up from the road to my front door.
I live alone, and am very unsure as to whether I should have the surgery. The consultant told me I am grade four, and it will not get any worse. That was four months ago, and, although the pain is not worse, I think my mobility has deteriorated.
What to do?
