Hypotension (very low blood pressure) & anaemia

A warning if, like me, you have low blood pressure around 100-110 normally. Before having surgery, check with your surgeon what the treatment will be if this drops further to hypotension level after surgery.

After my TRHR my BP struggled to get over 90. I was dizzy and faint and the physios couldn't get me up and moving for long as soon as expected.

As well as having to drink lots and lots of water, I was given bags of fluid intravenously until my BP had increased enough three days after the op to be discharged. It's taken another four weeks, an overnight hospital stay for more IV fluid, and 486% recommended daily iron tablets to counteract anaemia (due to operative blood loss), to get me feeling well.

On the plus side, my new metal hip joint seems a great swap so far. :o)

    Hi @Ali_W

Sounds like you have had a rough time recently. Fingers crossed you are on the mend though and that's great that you are getting good results from your hip.

    All the best x
