Vonski - I think Legs should come and join us!!!
We would look after her and they have new meds here - don't know what it is, but it's niiiiiice!!!!
No mirors though!
On a sensible note are we ok to take supplements on our meds or should we check?
Toni x0 -
Hi Toni,
I can confirm they are very nice......... Your right though about other meds, Biotin is safe with Cortisone, Nico til (which is a type of penicillin) Medrone and pure penicillin so it probably is ok but best to check. x
Hi Legs, you haven't gone and got itchy heels have you?...........
Hi Vonski,
100% nails are indeed a type of horn, horn is hair and Biotin would probably help. So would multi vits and I think steroid damages both. There is a site that tells you all about nails and a lot of it is down to conditions and illnesses, most do have a common link of vitamin deficiency and some drugs do pull down your bodies ability to fully digest and there do seem to be a lot o us with duff nails and in my case fine hair! If those photo's of the nails are right mine are bad for at least 3 reasons.............and 2 I know are present! The 3rd one just maybe I should get my drip..........

Here comes Toni with the tablets!0 -
I plan we should all escape and set up our own home...we can have mirrors and meds-a-plenty and I'll provide the wine. Housework naturally would be banned, just to protect our fingernails but we could have a nice young man to come in to pamper us daily.................what do you say guys

Is anyone else having problems with their fingernails? Mine grow and then when they get near the top peel? It's like they split but only the top layer, it comes off all the way across. Not sure if it's down to arthritis or the cancer so anyone got any ideas please

Dear vonski, are you on Tamoxifen or an anti-oestrogen for treating cancer? My nails used to do this when I was, I also had some hair loss problems....

Wow there is quite a few of us, just another thing thrown our way
Legs I love the idea that we should give the housework a miss. Might try that but not sure how long I'd get away with it
Toni I used to have long nails, some of the ambulance drivers used to want me to scratch their back I can't believe you're vain but do you have a lot of mirrors
Hope you are both ok

I have OS as well as visits by arther, my nails are very ridged and break easily, as you describe. If the tear is too low, a plaster is a good idea until they grow a bit and you can cut them below the tear. What about nail varnish could that help you girls? No, I'm not going down that route!!
8) Its a grin, honest!0 -
Hi Clariana
No I'm not taking either of those but I have lost an awful lot of hair as well as the nail thing. I have thought of shaving it off and starting again but just don't have the nerve. Anyway my head would get could

I take many vitamins, no prescription drugs, and haven't had strong nails since I was on prenatal vitamins many years ago. My nails would constantly break at the skin line, and I'd have to use nail glue to let them grow out long enough to cut. They were a medium length, and I hated cutting them short. I tried every nail product out there - Sally Hansen, OPI, the Nail Tech or whatever. I went online for a solution and tried putting the colorless iodine on the cuticles. That helped a little. I ran across an ad for Thyadine, which is a type of iodine made to take internally. (DON'T take the regular kind - poisonous!) 100% DIFFERENCE!!!!!!! Finally something that works. I ordered it on the internet first, then found that my local health store carried it. I started off with 3 drops a day under my tongue. I'm on my second bottle (Only around $15, and it lasts around 1 1/2 months), and I use two drops a day. I've read that iodine was added to table salt because our bodies don't get enough of it. In the last few years I've switched to sea salt only, some of which has iodine. But I've had breaking nails for over 20 years, so it wasn't that switch. Iodine helps your thyroid function better. I'm happy with this brand, though Imperial Gold makes one that sounds good as well. (I'm sold on their maca for hot flashes - the only thing I've found that works long term for those.)0

I managed to do a bit of gardening yesterday, paid for it in the evening but it was lovely to be out in the sunshine.
I still have all my long nails, never broke one. I really can't believe what has happened to my nails they are long strong and now painted.

Hi Rita
You really are lucky, not that I painted my nails much, always made a mess of it  Glad one of us can still be glamourous, careful in the garden though
