The hen's egg mystery

At the weekend I was preparing a patio pot for putting some bedding plants into. As I took out last year's soil I found a brown hen's egg buried. :shock: :shock: :shock: k030.gif Hubby is not the sort of guy to play practical jokes and our sons have long since left home. We are totally private at the back so no one could have put it there.

We broke the egg to find out how fresh it was and it would have been edible.

(I wasn't trying to grow an egg plant either before anyone comes up with that suggestion. :lol: )

Any suggestions on where it could have come from or has this happened to anyone else? :???: k030.gifHoping someone will solve this mystery for me.
Love, Legs x

    I believe it could be a chavs egg.. Sometimes when the female of the species is lost, heavily egg laden & cannot find her way back to the council estate she may, in panic bury one of eggs.. Especially if it is a brown egg & the partener chav is of the white variety or vica versa.. You could lay a trap if you think you have a chav infestation though.. Place 20 Benson & Hedges (other brands also applicable) and a four pack of stella in a beartrap & leave for a couple of nights..

    :grin::wink: Best of luck Linda

    If it were a chav egg would it not be covered in Burberry check? I think, Tony, you could be on the wrong trail here. As to where it came from, well, I have no idea. How very strange.

    You don't happen to keep hens, Legs? No? Ooooooh. Odder and odder. :shock: DD

    I don't think it was a chav-egg as there were no cigarette butts around the pot :grin: .........and no Dreamsdaisy I don't keep hens and I don't think any of the neighbours do. :|

    ..... could have been a fox .....though we think a fox would have just ate it?

    I think they hide stuff until later. My neighbours' hens were obliterated by a fox, he left the bodies and according to the knowledgeable buffs on here that was because he would have come back later for them. Perhaps the same applies to eggs. Ith a mythtery! (as Toyah would sing) DD

    It must be a happy chav hen which as got its freedom , they have to lay the eggs somewhere , you must have a nice quiet garden where it felt safe and able to put its egg. Perhaps it will lay you one day if you are lucky :smile:

    Eggs are perfectly round when inside birds, they only go "egg shaped" when the bird squeezes them out, I thought I would share that with you

    But before she could reply, there emerged from behind the bar a figure of gigantic proportions. Was it Fat Kev?

    No, it was...............................SUPER-ROOSTER, that infamous cockerel who's evil reputation was known throughout the whole of Chickenkind.

    He was eggactly the last thing anyone wanted to see in the Cane and Able :evil

    Princess Lilo stood quivering in the shadow of Super-Rooster, clutching her Kir Royale in one hand, she reached up with the other and pulled out from behind her tiara the gleaming 7th and final egg of destiny.

    As though it was a red hot coal she tossed it into the air over the heads of everyone there and it stood animated for a few seconds before it began it's arc to the floor of the Cane and Able :shock:
