I am all for standing up for whats right but this is nothing more than criminals who are taking advantage, how can setting building on fire with people inside them help, destroying business's so they won't reinvest in the community or the kind of publicity they are getting going to help any cause they have.
The parents of the murdered boy have even said this is not what they want, its just opportunists I think. Problem is nothing done to them when they get caught. This country is going to the dogs............... xxAS Sufferer

I agree they start a fire to distract police then they go and loot...but why on earth did they have to set fire to shops and people homes....some of those people have lost everything....its nothing to do with people rights....Love

History can always show what is going to happen in the future, hurt the poor, they will riot, take away a decent living people will riot. People are getting so frustrated with what is happening in the UK this is just a start. The UK government can put a stop to rising petrol prices, rising food prices, banks making obscene amounts of money which is coming generally from the hard working man/woman.
Take a look at what happened to Rome. Life is crap for more and more people every day people don't need the excuse to riot they will just do it and if Westminster does not start to pull their thumbs out their arses they will find that the riots will be marching down Downing St and people will die for their £47 a week benefit money, which they will lose if they don't get a job, along with the thousands of disabled people kicked off what they have a right to and out their houses onto the streets and the the government, the police and the rich will beat down on us until we submit.

absolutely bloody disgraceful!!
I'm in Brighton and hoping they dont move towards the coast ... or anywhere else for that matter... they cut our police forces and send the army to the middle east.... our country is going downhill badly... not feeling very proud to be British right now!love and hugs0 -
I hope it doesn't spread. I'm hoping they will all stay at home and play on their new looted toys.

Hubby and his parents have always said that this would happen. They do re-inactments around the south east and now it is being made so hard for them to to continue considering it is showing people parts of history.
They honestly believe its the government, which hate the idea that there are big groups of people out there that can properly defend as they are organised.
These people in london are sick they are doing all this(most of them) for the pure fact that they can and to take what is not theirs. Destroying peoples livelyhoods and homes, where is the point to that. There is none. I do feel so sorry for the people that are losing everything.

Give people a 'gimme' society and they will sit back and wait to be hand-fed everything they need. Why work when you can make a reasonable 'living' on benefits? Why make any effort for yourself when, in this day and age, you don't need to? Fat cats don't just sit there getting fatter, they weren't born fat cats. They work, a worryingly foreign concept for increasing numbers in this country. If you wanna be a fat cat then get in that industry and make some effort. If you want to be a have rather than a have not, get some qualifications and improve your own circumstances.
We have a feckless underclass which is runnning into its second, third, fourth generation. Of course people want what others have, 'tis human nature. What they don't want to do though is make any effort to aquire it, apart from smashing windows and looting. Let's face it, they are safe from any retribution, the law is toothless, the police have no power or threat value, what is there to worry about? If by any cruel mischance you are brought to what we laughingly call 'justice' it will only be a small fine or perhaps 100 hours of community work.
I have been listening to much pontificating by various figures this morning, but one comment from a member of the public summed it up nicely. The looters in Clapham were justified, he said, because they started by attacking a government store - Harvey Nichols. Ye gods. How the hell is that a Govenrment store? He then complained that the Police were standing around doing nothing. Maybe they were, maybe they weren't, but I reckon if the Police had gone in with water cannon or rubber bullets the same gentleman would have been complaining about a police over-reaction. Hopefully it will rain tonight. Go out looting in the rain? No thanks, says the looter. I might get wet and get a cold and then I might die and THEN you'll be sorry. Ummmm, no, I won't, says DD. You are harming your own community. More fool you.Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
it has spread and sadly i think it will continue a bit longer. and for what?
i have to say "proud to be british" is not a phrase that i will be using.0 -
Well said DD!
It's awful and no matter how they think they are hard done by what they are doing does not justify it. They are scum, opportunists and a disgrace to human nature. Me and my husband are finding things hard but we not looting etc!
Bring in the army before more innocent people get hurt.
Ashamed to be British today! XAS Sufferer

I am proud to be both English and British and I will not let a mindless monority take that pride in our country from me. The vast majority of people in this country are decent, honest, hardworking, responsible folk, they always have been and always will be. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. The underlying causes may be there but the rioting, arson, burglary, theft, assaults and general public disorder are crime which no amount of excuses can allay and anyone who encourages in any way is just as guilty.
A peaceful political demonstration is acceptable in our society, crime is not and should be dealt with severely. We all have to behave, why not these people?
I hope the police investigation will be thorough and involve those who encourage and support crime.0 -
The Riots have spread across England now, and it's all being done via networking internet sites and messenger sites i.e MSN & Blackberry messenger. The networking sites like facebook and twitter are a big cause in the riots by young people sending coded messages via the sites.
It's amazing that one thing, can develop into something so hurrendous than this. And the shocking thing about all of this is some of the rioters are as young as 7yrs old! I feel that school summer holidays have something to do with this because of how long they are! The children get bored and they see a demonstration taking place and start causing trouble and boom you have a riot on your hands! And it spreads like that. And for our PM to stay on holiday until last night and he thought oh I think I should get back and because I will get a bad name otherwise, well you can see for yourselves he isn't fit to rule this country if it took 3 days of rioting for him to come back from his holiday because the country was in trouble! There we go rant over!!0 -
Disagree about the school holidays being too long (although I am a teacher) its what goes on at home in the summer holidays thats the problem. WhenI was a kid my parents cared about what I did, they did things with us (didn't have to cost money) and mot importantly they taught us morals, priniples and what was right from wrong. xAS Sufferer

School holidays are not the root of this. If children that young are taking part you have to wonder what the parents are doing - rather not doing eg being responsible parents for starters. When I was seven my mum always knew where I was and what I was doing. I am now 53 and she still bloody does.
Quite what Mr C is supposed to do I don't know. Stand there and ask the naughty ones to behave?
Anyhoo, taking the fine example set by dissafected winkers up and down the land I am off to do me a ram raid in Daisy and help myself to a swanky perching stool. It's my right. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Oh DD, you do make me laugh, ram raid in Daisy
My sons were contacted my 'mates' on FB and said they were going to Ealing for 'a look' at whats going on. There's no way in heck I would have let any of my three lads out last night if we were back home in Hillingdon. Thankfully we're in good old Isle of Wight, where the only excitement last night was me getting locked out in my pj's!
I think personally, the Internet does play a part in 'rallying' young who probably only go to have a look and then get caught up in it, young people that would never have done anything like this before suddenly become feral. It's a scary, scary time to live in greater London. Please God it'll all die down soon. X'grá agus solas'

Welcome to the politically correct utopian multicultural theme park we’ve made for ourselves. Just think what this is going to cost to rebuild, the country is a total mess and going down the tubes as we watch.
What gets me is the likes of Diane Abbot and the other woman who’s a community representative blaming the Police and Britain for being institutionally racist as one of the main causes of this, total utter fecking BS, for Gods sake stop blaming everyone else for your kinds actions stand up and take responsibility for once. Were all in this together it’s no different for any of us so be adult about it for once, they also went on about how “they felt left out and angry about the economy!” what the??!!, Jesus they weren’t looking for food and water it weren’t that desperate if so they wouldn’t have burnt it all down for fun, no they just wanted new TV’s DVD players and JJB sports nylon chav wear as they couldn’t arsed to pay for it.
Bloody thieving thugs who have no moral compass or respect for anyone who isn’t in their hood or a homie total gangsta they’ve been brought up with no real morals or respect and a have a chip on their shoulders placed their by Ms Abbot and the left wing PC brigade this is just the result of their propaganda and anti establishment views.
Police aren’t meant to be your friends their there to Police you and your community, if you don’t go around drug dealing in a gang then your not going to be hassled are you, and anyway where are the bloody parents in all of this, these gangs are just young kids, if their parents give two sh*$s and are more interested in pissing the dole money up than being a parent then they’ve only got themselves to blame here.
The community these kids come from have failed themselves no one else did this not the state, not the schools, not the Police, not the white working or middle classes, you did it to yourselves, YOU and your kids did it, because you didn’t or couldn’t be arsed to teach them right from wrong when they were young you washed your hands of them and left it up to the schools and the state to bring them up for you.
Once the dust has settled don't start the normal moaning about lack of this or that or it's the Police and the racists state, stand up and admit you and your community have serious social problems that need to be adddressed by you firstly, the buck stops with you, after all no one else made your kids do it.0 -
Apologies for any bad language but I am very angry :x ....
They were rioting outside both my baby sisters flat in London and my baby brothers in Bristol - both have said that the people they have seen doing it don't seem to have any cause except violence, thuggery and theft. I’m worried about both my siblings as both are in the heart of it and can’t leave or go to my parents as they have jobs to hold down, both are quite young and my brother has an amazing knack of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was coming home from work in the middle of the Stokes Croft / Tesco riot when he got hit in the head with a glass bottle being thrown at the Police...concussion and stitches :???:
Disaffected youth my **** - my sister says last night a women was in the process of being sexually attacked outside her home, being cheered on by the mob and it was only the intervention of other local people that stopped it. What the hell does that prove except that you are a criminal.
Looting and destroying people’s homes through vandalism and arson don't prove anything except that you have no morals or conscience. It’s not to prove a political point or change the way society treats or perceives you...unless you want them to perceive you as a nasty piece of work and lock you up accordingly.
I think that there is a cause for some hope in the army of volunteers who have joined the cleanup process across London... we need as a nation to come out strongly and condemn it and show that even though it is shocking it is still a minority within the population and we will not condone nor sanction this as a means to an end.
I don’t oppose protests or demonstrations but this was neither it was just a good excuse for a fight that escalated to sheer bloody minded thuggery0 -
well said mel well said.0

i hope your brother and sister are ok. i have a dear old friend in hackney and she has been terified. she refuses to leave her flat at all.
if people are so dissatisfied with how there "race" are treated in this country then by all means leave and go some where else more suitable stop dragging the rest of this country down. the wild claims that are comming out as excuses for this disgusting carry on are unreal.
as a teen i never had the latest trainers, tv blah blah blah. i got a smack round the head for being cheeky, the local copper was some one to dread and as for your mates granny, god help you if she caught you up to no good. did we riot. smash up people lively hoods/homes etc.
no we got off our **** and worked. i cleaned cars, did shopping for elderly neighbours. cut grass. walked dogs, babysat and a paperround to earn money. i even left home at 16 and moved away inorder to have a full time job. no body handed it to me on a plate and said there there missy we owe you.
who thing is bloody shocking and disgraseful0
