    Update

Her mouth’s sore, too, and she’s had to get a prescription-strength mouthwash. Food has no taste apart from the chemo metallic one so she doesn’t feel like eating but, May being May, she is doing and is sipping ginger in between to try to get rid of the taste. Can you believe she feels like ‘a right wimp’ and ‘a moaner’ ? Nope, me neither but that’s what makes May such a strong lady. She and Val have a lot to teach all of us.

She sees the GP on Thursday to get something for her sore bits and has another scan booked for around the 25th.

Tonight, she will try to get some sleep by diluting the ginger with whisky. I always knew we had something in common  I very much hope it works, May.

You are having it rough May. A wimp and a moaner? Certainly not. No way. You are a strong person and Sticky is right. We could all learn a thing or two from you. Hang in there. We are all with you.

Ye gods. Peeling skin and metallic taste to everything? We think arthritis needs some evil meds - this has nothing on that.

May, I send you every postive thought I can muster: you are an extraordinary woman to bear this with minimum complaint. I agree with Sticky, you and valval are great role models for us, I just wish you could fulfil that role in a very different way. ((((())))) xxx DD

May had a good night's sleep, courtesy of the good old 'water of life' but, like the rest of us, will be indoors all day today. Her dongle might be playing up again.

Today is 50% better so getting there. Feet look like I've put them in boiling water but I'll just try and stay off them. Still got my cotton gloves on my hands but the cream is working...I think.
It will all pass in time. I was advised to have tepid showers and baths. This weather !!!! No..warm though without the smellies. I now feel quite human. Still can't taste anything but bearing in mind that OH is doing the cooking it isn't a big loss.He does try bless him.
If this is as bad as it gets I'll cope. Sleeping has made a big difference.
So it will be more of the "water of life" tonight to be sure of another sleep.
Every day that passes I'll be getting better. I am getting amazing support from you lot which I very much appreciate.
Will have to get a new computer and to add to the mix my fridge packed in this morning. Getting one delivered tomorrow.
    Thank you..thank you...thank you. Love May x

I'm amazed that good old Adam's Ale is having such a good effect. Bless John and all his efforts but it must be very hard to enjoy eating when there is no taste to anything. I am sorry about your fridge - mind you your back doorstep will probably be just as efficient! My Auntie's heating packed up yesterday, she has one of those British Gas contracts and they've assured her they'll get someone to her by Monday at the earliest. She's 84 and I'm not sure why she's paying them an annual fortune for such poor service. I bet they can't fix it either when they deign to arrive.

Keep your chin up as best you can and if you can't no matter, have a good sulk instead. You're having a tough time and we are thinking of you very much. DD

DD Adam's ale works. Anything that does is a bonus. To be deprived of sleep does wash all of us out.
That scheme that British Gas have has had bad press. Its unbelievable that an 84 year old should be left without heating in this weather.
Worse thing is I can smell food but eating something that tastes like the cutlery isn't pleasant. Still I have to eat.John is trying to make something that I might fancy but is failing badly. We've had lovely white snowflakes here but I'm resisting the urge to build a snowman.

I agree that anything that helps is a bonus and no-one else should criticise. :) I agree about the BG thing, we use a private gas engineer but I can also see it from the other point of view, I struggle with life aged 53 but at 84? There is an apparent comfort in paying the fee but the reality? My mum has experienced the same thing with Homeserve. It's not good service, end of.

As for the eating, that is tough for you both. It must be very hard to 'satisfy' the appetite of someone who can't taste. (I had a brief experience of the metallic thing and it's horrid.) It's the meds, not him, but that doesn't make it any easier. ((())) DD

Glad you are feeling better May. It must be difficult eating when it doesn't taste of anything. Tepid showers in this weather? Brrrr! I'm sure you will be fine with warm water. Hope the water of life gives you another good night's sleep.
