Sulfasalazine for PsA axial and peripheral Sponyloarthritis
My first week or SSZ was ok with minimal side effects (500mg once daily). Once I upped my dose on the second week to (500mg twice daily) I started feeling incredibly poorly, very sick, constant headache, swollen lymph nodes, severe rash etc. I have now stopped for 1 week following the advice of my hospitals DMARD hotline, to give my body a break, as apparently it is better tolerated after a short break, but am terrified to restart it again this weekend. Has anyone else experienced this with SSZ? And if so, does it get better? I am only 26 and feeling incredibly depressed and hopeless.
Thank you in advance for any advice. X

HI @BethJoy
Really it's quite understandable that you are fearful to restart your medication.
I don't know whether there will be any threads here of use to you?
I did a search for Sulfasalazine side effects:
Hopefully someone else will come along who can offer you some reassurance.
My best wishes
Ellen.
