Hello, I'm new here!

Hi all,
Recently diagnosed and started Methotrexate on Monday....8 tiny pills that are making me feel abit rubbish at the moment. After reading about the nausea, i thought i had got away with it, but yesterday it hit, along with a tummy that feels like it is acidy, hungry and on fire. I know it was only my first dose and i need to go with it for now, but can anybody tell me how long this lasts and any tips for settling my internal inferno?!

Hi @nosila and a massive welcome to our friendly online community.
People seem to tolerate Methotrexate differently, I don't want to dishearten you but I didn't have a good experience with it myself, I was very sick for 2-3 days every single week after taking it so eventually I decided to come off it and try an alternative. Now I'm on biologics and they are brilliant. However, since you have only just started I would maybe give it a little more time to see how your body adjusts. Are you taking folic acid?
Here's an article with some useful info for you.

I was on Methotrexate several years ago. After the first week, I had no problems and it suited me. Everyone is different. If after trying to let in settle, you find it too difficult, talk to your rheumatologist as there are other alternatives.

Hi I'm new on here too. I have AS and recently moved from humira to benepali. The good news is I now don't get the horrendous injection site reactions I was getting(8days of 5 inch legions raised and sore and itchy) which is great and I am now on 5th injection which is weekly. I feel they are starting to work so another big plus. However the day after the injection for last 3 weeks I've been floored. Need to sleep 15 or 16 hours a day and then it lifts and I feel good. Along with severe fatigue I feel very week. I am hoping it is a side effect that will pass. Any experiences or guidance much appreciated. Many thanks Jan

Hi @janno and welcome to our friendly online community.
I used to be on Humira also however I don't have any personal experience with Benepali. It might be a good idea to speak to your rheumatologist about this though. You may need to get your bloods checked just in case there is something separate going on.
Please keep us updated

ThankS Claudia, I spoke to the hospital pharmacist yesterday and they said this can happen with benepali until your body adjusts but it can take 4 months!!!!! She also said check bloods so thanks for your comment and reinforcement on that. I'm not sure I can do it for another 3 months as I am so out of it for 2 days a week. I will see how I get on in a few more weeks and get my bloods done quickly. Thank you again. Hope you are OK. You say you used to be on humira?
