How soon did you give up on methotrexate?

I have a history of gastritis and started mtx last week on the lowest dose. Also 5mg daily folic acid for 6 days. I was already on hydroychloroquine and sulphasalazine.

I have constant nausea and my stomach is burning, also massive fatigue.

They are going to switch me to injections but I don't feel optimistic.

Has anyone seen fewer side effects with inject methotrexate?

My RA is very intermittant. I'm fine between flares but have been having extremely painfu; flares in different joints.

I'm thinking that without MTX at least I feel good some of the time.

    Afternoon @Skap

Regards to MTX I started like you on tablets then pen injections. Pain relief excellent but like you stomach not so good had blood test results and they showed problems with liver so I had to come off them.

Have you spoken to your consultant or doctor ??

I am now on Yuflyma new bio med so fingers crossed.

Hope you get some answers soon.

    Best wishes @Naomi33

Hi, I was switched from 20mg oral methotrexate a week to the 20mg injections approx 2 months ago. I feel far less nauseous with the subcutaneous route, the fatigue I experience has become worse though.

    Hi @Skap

I put methotrexate, nausea and injections into the search engine and got the following threads:

    Worth a read?

I changed to injections due to nausea but unfortunately I still get horrible nausea for at least 36 hours after I take it, despite taking folic acid 6 days a week. I take it about 7pm so the nausea is at its worse at night. I get some relief from ginger -a biscuit or drink and find sweet foods make it worse. I know many find the injectios are better so hope it works for you.
