Hi Rose
I see you are using crutches. Have you got some kind of padding on them to help protect your hands? If not, get some of that grey foam pipe lagging from B & Q (it only costs 62p per 3 ft strip) - cut a piece the length of the crutch 'handle', cut down one side and put if over the 'handle' and fasten it on with either a thick elastic band, or, better still, one of those thin plastic strip/fasteners...

Hi Marion,
Thankyou for the tip , the handle is shaped and i do wear my isotoner theraputic gloves wrist splints or thumb splints b...dy agony really. i tend to hold the ends alternating with holding the handle to give a little relief.
how are you?

Well keep my fingers crossed that they can help you and hopefully help the pain a bit.
If your hands are sore from the crutches why don't you ask them to pad them for you?
i'm sure they would help you.
Lots of us are on Amytrips, diazapam, plus pain killers.

Evening Marion
How are you?0 -
Trish,
Have they given you much relief?0 -
Hi Rose
I am doing OK - 12 post op THR now and trying to get rid of my one crutch, but still finding that I need it when outside..
The crutches really set off the RA/OA in my hands a few weeks ago , so I tried padding them with cotton wool and tubi-grips and then someone told me about using pipe lagging and it has worked brilliantly for me..
I also bought one of those paraffin wax hand kits recently and that helps soothe my hands. I love my isotoner pressure gloves too (although they are a bit dog eared and 'pulled' now!) .. I find they really help straighten my fingers in the night - although as soon as I use the crutch my middle finger, in particular, goes bent again!
best wishes

lets cheer ourselves up any one got any lemons or maple syrup?0 -
Hi Rose, sorry you are having a hard time ATM. The tips for 'lagging' the crutches are good ones!
I will help myself to another builders............have taken the night meds and my bed is calling me seductively. Positively crooning. I will finish my builders and then head for it with all possible speed (which in my case isn't much).
Nite nite to all, hope you have decent nights and better days tomorrow.
