Hi Berty,
The name was my cows......Its Cornish and means skater, not sure what it tells though..... The aviator (I wish I could borrow a kid to go see that) is very like my lunatic dog known to his friends as slipper boy and well I should have liked a sheep but they didn't have one..... Cris x0 -
Bertyboy long confused me on the gender issue!
Tkachev is named after a russian gymnast(male) but he invented a move........a straddle, release , go backwards over the bar and catch the bar the other side .It is actually a very common move.
It is a silent T and katchev is the pronounciation . I could have chosen shaposhnikova, another Russian gymnast, but thought that might be a bit too much.
ElizabethNever be bullied into silence.
Never allow yourself to be made a victim.
Accept no ones definition of your life
Define yourself........

Weirdly Gickygawky is the name I gave myself as a small child.
I also used to slowly sing 'Gickkky gawkkky' as I rocked back and forward on my rocking horse. I was an only child!
Loads of my old friends still call me Gicky

Hey there!
All good here thanks - just got back from Oz so currently in zombie jet lag brain fuzz mode!
Hope you are all on good form and have been behaving yourselves in my absence!
Yes I too thought Bertyboy was a fella until recently!
My Hubby peeked over my shoulder while I was on here recently and laughed when he saw some of our names, he really laughed at Rehab's!

if you've read this before then forgive me it maybe needs explaining for the new forum users
Right ...... the picture is the nearest I could find to our staffordshire bull terrier cross (although she certainly doesn't look as fierce as the picture!!) who is one of the very best things that has happened to me (after meeting my hubby that is )
When she came to us from the rescue centre it took us all a while to adapt to each other and to work out who was who. One of the most difficult things for her to get used to was that my hubby is 6' tall & walks VERY quickly indeed. I, on the other hand, was at that time hobbling along with a walking stick and going exceedingly slowly
Somehow we began to refer to her as 'littlelegs' (not her real name) and hubby became 'quick legs' or 'speedy legs' ....... well I felt left out ............ and wanted a laugh at arthur into the bargain so became 'wonkylegs' despite the fact that the legs aren't the half of it for me
I think sometimes the best thing we can do is look for the funny side of life and try to laugh at the silliness of some of what we have to go through. I don't always manage it though, but the name always makes me smile.
hugs

Before I had my TKRs I was very knock-kneed. After my op I was so proud of my beautiful straight legs that I signed everything as 'Linda Straight Legs Smith'. A nurse I'd kept in touch with started emailing me as LindaLegs for short and then with texting, to cut down on letters I end them Legs .....so Legs was born ....much better than boring Linda .....I'm not keen on my first name
