I did too much yesterday and am paying the price, I've had my comfort food, toast with rhubarb jam and a strong cuppa and waiting until I can take the next lot of pills. Just been smiling at some of the posts. We seem aggrieved at others being unable to comprehend arther (I won't give him a human likeness by spelling the name properly) and how we feel, well, thats hardly surprising is it? Doctors, nurses and consultants who have moved through their lives, mainly in education, with minimal pain, disturbance or illness.

There was a program on TV about human character traits and how some do not have the empathy trait built into their emotions, if I remember properly, if you are neurotic then you have empathy, are artistic and think outside the box but fall prey to more illness. I'm sure some of you saw it?

Imagine being faced with loads of arthers everyday, grim or what!:lol::lol: Perhaps we should all meet in the surgery and have a group hug, leaving out the doctors appointment!

Yours, tongue in cheek

Morning Airwave - so sorry you had a bad night - but I hope that whatever you did yesterday was worth it (something nice, not just daily grind stuff)! My comfort food is toast too - but with Marmite, can't do jam (as my parents discovered when, aged about 2 years, they found me trying to feed my jam sandwiches to the unknown man sitting behind me at the cafe table).
I didn't see the prog you referred to but would definitely describe myself as neurotic (!!!) so perhaps there is something good about that after all!
Love your idea about group hugs at the surgery minus the docs appointments! From my short time as a member of this forum I have already realised that there is more help available here than I have had from the docs in the past 14 years. Now if we could only become approved drug prescribers as well we could really sort ourselves out - bet it would be cheaper for the NHS in the long run too. Not sure about diy joint replacements though - that might be taking it a bit too far!
Hope you did manage to get some sleep once the pills kicked in?
    Love Tilly x

I think know the programme you mean - the child of our time thing. I've recorded it but not watched it yet. I always thought neurotic people only bothered about themselves as similars are confused, unstable, irrational, disturbed, nervous and obssessive. Not good doctor material, but on the other hand that would explain the complete, blank-faced incomprehension we receive from some of them! DD

    Hi Toni,
It is a fascinating subject, but they only identify a 'trait' which are stronger in some and weaker in others, which goes to make up the wider gene pool and of course, this shows us a tendency towards these traits, we have so many others.

I just had this thought of a doctor standing looking at a queue of arthers awaiting an appointment and the thoughts going through his head........

Yes, we do get a lot more support from each other than aid from medication at times.

P.S. I did get back to sleep about 4am and then slept till 8. Pilloowwwww where art thou.....

I like the idea of DIY joint replacements. Venue: mellman's shed. Operating staff: delboy (probably doing anaesthetics, possible pernod), mell, robertis, joanlawson and livinglegend (reading instruction materials). Attending nurses: tillytop, skezier, speedalong and hileena, cos I reckon they'd be good at that. Ward staff, everyone else. Consultant: chrisov, a thoughtful and kind man. Tea ladies, frogmorton and me. Sorted. Get in! DD

I'll be ward manager cos I am a proper nursey type person and then I can delegate all jobs that need to be done. We also need ward clerk to take phone calls, do admin work. Any physios out there, OT's?

A virtual arthur ward, now this could go far....

    Hey you mad lot!

I'm in need of a wrist replacement...does that fall within your 'scope' of ops you are 'fit' to do? will you give me plenty of drugs?

Oh btw...you need more consultants....too many indians and not enough chiefs in your cyber hospital...ha ha!!

consultants should preferably have no bedside manner whatsoever and know absolutely nothing about arther or have any understanding of pain...
