Fridays are always busy for me so that is why I was not on the forum. I leave the house at 7.45am and do not get home until around 11ish. Today I met my neighbour so was home by 12 noon. :D Then it is chores time! :) The tubs in the garden need to be watered a couple of times a day, for starters as we have no rain. The flowerbeds once a day! That is before the household chores :D

Lots of people seem to join and then do not post. Perhaps they never log in again or just read the threads but do not take part. Others use the helpline zone and then disappear. Some post for a day or so asking for advice from us, receive the advice and disappear. Many of the threads crop up time and time again. I used to reply to them but when not on the forum so much I take a back seat and let others answer. There are always peeps around to help others out.

In the summer months there is so much more to do, I find that anyway. I do not feel lonely and isolated so do not use the forum for that purpose. I like to try to help people when they ask questions.

When I was post op, I had more time sitting around so was on here much of the day :)

I usually call in a few times a day but if busy, only reply to a few posts.

I think it can be a good sign if people are not so much on the forum, it means that they have other interests in their life which is vital to keep sane and happy! They may be feeling much better so more able to get on with what they wish to do in their life. Unfortunately they may not be feeling so good either, but have no questions to ask and do not wish to be on the chitchat zone or feel up to helping anyone else out. Things good or bad crop up, which stops one calling in on here.

The private messaging was a good invention on the forum and I find that often I just use that facility if pushed for time.

 I am rambling a little here as I have had a happy, hectic day. I find it reassuring that I can call in on this site as much or as little as I wish, depending on what I am doing and how I am feeling and either try to help others out, or ask for advice and know that someone will usually reply.

    Night, night, all, :)

    Luv
    Elna x
The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

Yes, I do. It's like all things: effective for some, useless for others! I can test, and if I think it worthwhile then I refer people to an opticians that specialise in this field. So far, everyone that I have referred has benefitted. DD

I feel that, on the whole, the best posters are the ones who use the Forum sensibly. They ALWAYS offer support, but NEVER talk about things they are not totally familiar with. I, for example, as an OA sufferer, would never try to advise an RA sufferer, despite having learned a lot about the disease from being on the Forum.
However, I am always prepared to- and frequently do - help anyone within my own area of expertise. Others are the same.

The Chit Chat Forum is great fun, and is there for most people as and when they want to join in. I can go days without posting there, when life and work is very busy. Then, may get happily involved for days at a time. For some people, it`s a lifeline, and long may it be so.

Overall, I think most people give to, and take from the Forum, what they need, and surely, that is how it should be.......Ange.

Just a thought for others who have problems with reading and watching puters for any length of time. There are a few programs around that will read words out through speakers and you can also get ones that will type from your voice commands. I haven't needed too use them and don't have much info but they are around. You might need to select/copy/paste into another program but it can be done.

Might make coming on here a bit easier? I expect google will come up with a few leads. My old emac will do voice commands and its ancient, in computer terms, now.

Just a thought but could AC do a link from a program that will read out topics and type the replies for you from spoken commands? Even the blind and hard of hearing could use this then, with a bit of help. If AC read these they may pick up on it?

    8) Its a grin, honest!

Slightly larger text would help too - many around here do suffer from eye problems and it is quite small. (now, livinglegend will pop in and tell me how I can make it bigger - he is the fount of all knowledge!)

You do make an excellent point tho, airwave, voice activated stuff can be good. Screens do glare so, I have been known to put sun specs over my specs! It does take the edge off the white backgound.

May I enquire airwave, is you a he or a she? DD

    Hi Airwave,

You don't happen to know what ones read the messages for you do you? I know about the voice activated ones but they don't seem to tell you whats on the screen .... or at least not in my price range..... Cris x

    Hi DD an Del,

For mine its visual disturbance and too near so though I do have it on zoom.text size it doesn't make too much difference if they are blurring up its just close stuff, beyond the blur area I have really good vision...... x

I tend to agree with you dachshund, I suppose it's because I'm used to this site now that I don't want to explore others. I feel that I 'know' some people here now, it feels familiar and comfortable. I like being here. DD Oooh - nearly forgot - hope you are having a reasonable day.

Hi everyone - this has made a lot of people think?? I try to log on everyday unless I am unwell or have fatigue then I just cant concentrate on anything - even reading peoples messages!! I found this site when I was diagnosed and found out that there were no local support groups in cornwall!! I needed somewhere that I could go onto when ever I felt down or confussed or sad or frightened about what is happening to me!! I do find though - Im not sure how this will sound as everyone reads things differently!!! - but because I feel that I am still able to do certain things, like walking, housework on good days etc, then i feel I can not advise others who are having bad times?? I hope that makes sense!! I want to give hugs but sometimes am not sure how to write supportive comments if I have not experienced it as bad as others!! I really appreciate the advice everyone has given me - even the real truth on how bad it could get - and I know that someone is always there to help me!! Writing this makes me feel guilty for not being more supportive - I will try to give more hugs out if thats ok??!!!! I hope all that makes sense?? Sometimes I am unable to explain what I mean - again why I like this site cause I can feel embarrised but no one will see me go red!!!

You haven't been about much lately - studying or summat if I remember right. It's not difficult to offer support psyart, just let people know you care. It's not a competition here - we're all in very similar boats and we know how rough it can be. Just let people know you're thinking of them. I hope you are having a tolerable day. DD

I cant answer for everyone, but personaly I am still working full time, and to be honest I am so exhausted in the evenings all I can do is eat then go to bed!! At the moment I have come off the pred, and am really feeling it, all the pain is back despite the triple therapy. So thats one answer, I know its already been said. I agree also some people only come on to get answers for a specific problem. Anyway, as long as the forum is used and useful, thats the main thing. Take care all x :)

My apologies airwave, I'm obviously not yet recovered from my nearly 24 hours awake thing yesterday. And I don't usually peer at an animal's undercarriage!

BBQ? Where do you live? It's 10 degrees, dark and raining - oh, yeah, perfect barbie weather! DD

Sorry you are having such rotten weather DD. I live in the South, and I am so grateful as we have had lovely hot sunny days here. I'm always so much better in the sun, as I expect everyone else is. I do hope the sun shines for you very soon and you can throw off your cardigan. Love, Beth x

Down in the sun! Just been out on the balcony, doors still open, BBQ cooking, jacket pots, onions, tomatoes, horseshoe mushrooms and a flash fried steak, oh, and a bottle of Cote du Rhone 'villages' to help wash the food down! I might add 'and some strawberries and cream' but that would just make you jealous?
