Hey Airwave - you can count me in! Think this is a brilliant idea!!!

But Salamander, please don't feel alone and isolated on Monday - I too will be around on the forums on Monday and happy to answer posts.

I to would hate to think that anyone felt isolated, or not able to talk about how they are feeling, like you say tilly we are always here for one another.

    Hello,

I can see that in theory this sounds like a good plan but I'm afraid I have to agree with what Salamander has said.

I have a pretty major appointment on Tuesday which could potentially be life changing and I am sure that by Monday I will be in a bit of a wobble about it, and knowing that I am meant to be smiling and putting a brave face on it just adds to the pressure. I pretend that I am 'fine' every single day and am known for smiling all the time (however much pain I am in) but being able to come on this forum and say how I really feel, tears and all, is a huge emotional relief.

I am sorry if I have misunderstood but just thought that I would add my tuppence worth.

Hope you are all having a good Saturday

Thanks for the reassurance! Feeling particularly fragile at the moment and being 'fine' is taking it's toll! I had tears in my eyes twice at work today when I was talking to people - slightly embarrassing!

    Dear stlucia

These sort of scenarios have already been sorted out earlier, in this thread, because of course not everyone will be able to be smiley and so on. There are many reasons where this may not be at all possible.

We shall be looking out for each other as we do every day and helping those that need support.

Should you need reassurance or help anytime, we will be there for you :)

    Love

I know full-well that Monday will be a rubbish day, I see no reason why it should be different from all the others, but I will still be here, posting away and trying to help those who are not feeling so good. I will, however, make an effort to do something for me, to remind me that my life is not all about arthritis. Thank you airwave, for reminding me that I am more than this disease. DD

I will be around to support you St. Lu. and thanks for supporting my stance too. What op are you having on Tuesday? Send me a message if you don't want to put it in the public domain.

I'm sorry the rest of you don't get my point. My life isn't all about arthritis but this is an arthritis forum,
that's the point of it, to talk about arthritis and related issues. As I said, I don't think think challenges to coming on here and talking freely should be posted on the Living with Arthritis forum. Would have been better on Chit-Chat.

For me, Monday is very important way of combatting arther.

You don't have to stop posting about arther or chatting to each other and if you do nothing else than look up from your screens for a few seconds and think of us doing something different, then arther has been beaten for a few seconds, for us and for yourselves.

As in all things, join in at your own level or just wish us well.

    8)Its a grin, honest!

I do wish you well Airwave but think this is a personal challenge that should be posted on the Chit-Chat forum. I refer back to my other points.

This is a very relevant way of combatting 'living with arther', its understandably, not for everyone.

No-one is asking that of you. One of the best features of the LWA forum is that is is a place where we can come to weep and wail and gnash our teeth, it is a safe place to let it all out, the anger, the confusion, the frustration, the irritation, knowing that the 'audience' will understand. As a result it is a hugely supportive forum for us all to use. Indeed many just come here to rant and rave, gather loads of support then disappear again. Fair dos. That is exactly why it is here.

The problem, as I see it, is that there is no balance. We need at least one positive place, on this forum, to put good news, or what ranks as good news to us! Admittedly, good news is nowhere near as interesting as the continuing in-depth debates that run on and on here, but we do need a different perspective on it all. We do need to be reminded that sometimes, occasionally, arthritis isn't the winner. Is that really such a bad thing?

In my life I don't let arthritis in from 6.15am until 6pm, I fight it everyday at work. I feel really patronized being told to look up from my screen for a few minutes to not think about arthritis. The small amount of time I talk about arthritis is when I need to let off steam.. That's brilliant you want to think about other things on Monday and I hope it helps you, but for me I spend little time letting it in all day that in order to stay emotionally okay I need to be able to say how I feel. Me too St Lucia. I shall continue as I always do on Monday. I have to suppress my feelings for the comfort of others all the time and I am not going to do it here.
There is a reason to be cheeful thread, a smile today thread for those things.

    Hi airwave

I think this is a great idea and I'm backing you all the way :D

and I believe that most of the dissenters are, as DD says , missing the point of this. I believe that this is obviously important to you, and for that reason alone I will willingly lend my support.

Im not missing the point. Airwave suggested we avoid mentioning anything negative about arthritis on Monday. But I agree with the 'dissenters'. You cannot shut up to keep somebody else happy. Tell it like it is if you need to.

I'm sorry to see such mixed feelings on this thread. Although I do understand which I why I thought it best to qualify with a disclaimer. Of course I'll still be here if anyone needs support but I also think it's important to support airwave' s way of dealing with Arthur as well.

I hope everyone has a happy Monday and is feeling good. That's not meant to slight anyone, I do sincerely hope that everyone is ok today, as I hope every other day. My niggles are no worse today than usual so I won't be needing to rant. I'm here today to see how everyone else is doing and to offer support where I can.

Happy Monday everyone. I hope something magical happens for each and everyone of us.

    Happy Monday my Friends!

Yep, I am trying to think positive. Went to take my half a zillion pills this morning and was about to freak out as stupidly have run out of my steriods!!!!!

Since 8am I have been trying to call my GP to arrange more pills however for the last 2.5 hours constant engaged tone. HOWEVER, as it is Positve Monday I am still thinking that I shall POSITIVELY get through to them AND that I won't receive a lecture from the Rottweiler of a receptionist that I should be more organised haha!

    Keep smiling, Carol
