    Hello everyone :)

Barbara remember ages ago I was convinced your thyroid might be playing up because you had some of my ex MIL's symptoms. Well at least they can keep an eye now.

KathT I have no idea how you survive all those forums!!! Social media can swallow chunks of your life.

Elizabeth I hope you have seen Lucy made her prom :) I also hope you have 'turned the corner' and the BP is not caused by OH.

Marrianne I am glad you enjoyed the radio show so much - maybe it helped you get through the washer-woman activities

Christine I am so glad you are loving your book :) Reading has kept me sane over the years. That Hotel fire does sound suss I think :?

Joan I am sure Sue's swelling will go down in time, but am glad she has painkillers bless her :(

Hello to everyone else I probably missed

    love

Feeling sick and headachy again, also left leg giving me lots of pain.

I did see the lovely pics Toni. I'm so pleased she was able to make it. As I said before my boy did not want to go to his Prom, he's just happy playing on his computer!

We had rain last night and yep it saves watering the plants.

Does anyone know if you should have a BP test after a blood test? Somewhere in my head I think a blood test can raise BP and its best not to do them on the same day.

As I'm not feeling well I'm going to sign off.

Hoping everyone has a lovely weekend.

    Love to Sue and Joan.

Stand by, I'm not in the best of tempers. Sorry in advance. :( After a really epic effort lately working out all my appointments etc, fitting things in, stewing my brain over dates & commitments & all that, I FINALLY (after yesterday's bloods), reached a long-awaited 'free bit'. Yay! I had all sorts planned, maybe see a friend this weekend after months, potter in garden, do some nice little things I'd saved up. But, OF COURSE, that would never do, so by the evening I broke a tooth and all that has gone out of the window. My free bit lasted about 6 hours. Now everything has to be undone & rearranged, with the effect that although 5 mins ago we were in June & I was in hand, now it will be the end of August before I turn round twice, and all hope of getting ahead gone, just in time to meet the next list of things I don't want to do. :( May as well call it Christmas and have done. And this happens every year so I don't know why I'm even surprised.

I know no plans are guaranteed, and things crop up, but why DOES this always happen like clockwork? I'm just so disappointed.. Even complaining is pointless, because what happens then? Yep, you get something else just to show you when you were 'well off'.

Sorry not to reply to everyone else properly but I'm going to have to regroup, sulk, have a cry, and do the 'get up and drag yourself through one more chore' thing. In itself it's no big deal, it's just the stupid ripple effect it has.

I will be back when I've taken a hold of myself.

Love to everyone & no sympathy warranted but a hot sweet tea won't go amiss. xx

Hope you feel better soon TK, & Joan hope sue's swelling will go down quickly now. x

    Hello all
Well the weather turned out glorious :D it said rain for the day..
Elizabeth so sorry you are feeling poorly you do need a good break from everything...I do hope you feel better soon .. x
Oh Toady this is not right...don't you just love a break from all appointments..then something comes along to spoil it..have you get a dentist or shouldn't I ask... you scream and shout all you want we don't mind...wish I could help more but knowing me I will say the wrong thing... I just hope you can fit some nice things in....
Joan I loved westlife..how lovely that you got to meet another fan , I never got to a concert :(
Kath the tinternet is good for talking to people..I am using it more and more...but I wouldn't mind a bit of a life..... friends don't seem to want to know when you have to walk very slow...
I have just been sat in the garden and the little boy next door is 9 next weekend..and he has invited me to his party..they have a bouncy castle coming...so I asked could I go on but they would have to help me...and his little sister 7 pipes up what about the safety you could sue us.... what has it come to..a cuppa and one for Toady and we can have a chat...and Christine if she pops in...

Thanks barbara, very kind (sniff) I'll be fine when I've got my head round it & (hopefully) got it over with asap.. & without throwing everything out too far.. don't know what will be involved yet, can't ring til Mon., but yes I do have a dentist thankfully & always been good though I haven't been lately. Got to be grateful there are such things and we aren't in the middle ages with no handy dentists. Can't grumble anyway really, as there are worse times for it to happen in a lot of ways; it's just that as you say, we don't get much of a life to ourselves & it's just another slice off what little there is. Probably get bitten by a rabid poodle on the way back & then I will have something to complain about.

Hope your next bloods go ok & I'm sorry you had to have one of 'those' phone calls back.. ugh.. :( thanks again for the tea & chat, there is no right thing to say to a grumpy toad by the way, they soon rebound, it usually doesn't take long. :) Talking of which, the bouncy castle would be a bit too much rebounding  but nice to get the party invitation lol.. if there are any buns with icing & 100s & 1000s & silver balls, sneak us some. :D 7 year-old health & safety officers, oh dear.. someone has seen too many ads for 'accidents that weren't your fault'.

Hope marrianne is doing ok & TK feels better.. wishing everyone a good Sunday.. Kath the internet eats time, sometimes think it ought to work a bit like on a gas meter, get a token for when you've done your chores first  and then you could only stay on for a set time. Mind you that's more or less what dial-up used to be, as it was so expensive.

    night all, toady xx

Toni, I bet Lucy is still buzzing and chatting about last night.

Barbara, hope you got some more strawberries today. Won't be long till your potatoes are ready now. How lovely to be invited to the party. Funny how even kids know about sueing. Thank you for the cuppa.

Elizabeth, your headache is back. Hope it's gone when you wake up tomorrow.

Toady, sorry things aren't going to plan. It's awful when you think you're getting ahead to find yourself behind again. Passes Toady a hot sweet tea and your choice of cake if that will help. Fingers crossed tomorrow will seem brighter.

Joan that was good meeting someone to go to the show with. Hope you are having a good weekend.

My sister, who cares for my dad, sent me a message saying they had arranged for someone to come and cut down all dad's overgrown trees and bushes and tidy up his garden and she wanted everyone to chip in to pay for it. I thought that was a good idea. She was going to be out so asked me to put it in an envelope and post it through her door. I asked my other sister if she had brought her money and she said no, she was taking it over tomorrow or Monday. I know she can't do that as she has no way of getting there tomorrow and she's working on Monday. With all of the other carry on money wise, I feel she's not chipping in for some reason. I'm still not getting told anything that's going on with dad. I only find out if dad mentions anything. He told me that my sister had changed his bank account to another bank and he'd had alarms put around the house in case he leaves the cooker on or needs the heating on. Sorry about the rant.

Hope tomorrow is a good one for everyone.

Morning all the sun is shinning :D
Toady ,I hope today is a much better one suppose it couldn't get any worse.. sorry I am touching my head ..WOOD :? has for being in the dark ages ..that is were we are not sure about the rest of the country..but a few years ago most of our dentist went private...so if you missed one 6 monthly appointment you were struck off and they didn't warn us.. this last time it took me two years to find an NHS one..but I hate going twice a year and have my teeth scraped and such oops Sunday morning and I am ranting...anyhow Toady hope they can fix it quite easily.. :)
Christine..this is so familiar to me...I cared for my mum then my dad many years later...then my brother left his wife and moved in with him..at first I was so glad of a break but found out dads money was going in the pub...not my dad but my brother..it was an awful time of falling out..it ended up with me being really poorly..anyhow a few years after dad died ..I made up with my brother...then ended up caring for him..sorry I am maudlin... right back to you... I think you should all have another talk ans set some rules between you, not easy I know..good luck :) well everyone's in bed here..one GC and one hubby.. so I am sat here having a cuppa..then will water my garden..get ready the heavens will open now..
hope you all have a goodish day..xxxxxxx

Just popping in for some breakfast while I decide what to do today. Sunshine and showers has been forecast. Sorry for the moaning last night. It just gets to me now and again but I'm ok this morning.

Barbara, the dentist I had gone to for many years went private and it took me quite a while to find another good one. I was going to her every 6 months but I phoned up recently because I thought I was due a check-up and was told it's every 12 months now. I wonder if it's because they have all the people who have left their dentist when they went private and don't have so much time now. I would ask that the family sit and talk again, as we have before, but my sisters aren't interested. One sister says everything should be decided by the one who cares for dad and they won't talk to my brother at all. I find it easier at the moment to let it go over my head rather than risk falling out with my sisters altogether. I'm glad you made up with your brother. Enjoy the peace before everyone gets up.

Hope Elizabeth and Toady and Sue are feeling better this morning.

Hello Toni, Barbara, Toady, Christine, mig, Joan, Elizabeth - and whoever I've forgotten.

Toni, can you come and do our housework for us. I'm no good and OH is just kn*****ing himself doing it all. You would be ideal.

On the subject of OH, you have to laugh. I use a walking stick and I'm very wobbly and prone to fall, so he doesn't like me 'out' by myself, especially if it involves buses. The reason being that if I have a fall, he will be there to help me up. Problem being that most of the time he is about 6 yards ahead of me. When I mentioned that he wouldn't know if I'd fallen from that distance, he just said: "Yes I would because I wouldn't hear your stick tapping along but I would hear the thud when you landed! Charming! He does look after me though.

Don't mention dentists to me!! I haven't been for years. Last time I had an appointment I sat in the waiting room for 2 hours while they were getting loads of patients/customers signed up for private treatment. I walked out without being seen and didn't go back. Already lost 2 teeth and I'm sure there are others on their way out. :x

Oh yes Toaday, I remember 'pay as you go' internet. When our son lived at home we had to ration him and us to just a couple of hours in the evening (cheap rate) and the awful noise it would make while dialling up.

Well, as I've lost another 2lbs and the food here is calorie free, I'm helping myself to a large piece of cake and glass of full fat milk. Which reminds me - have any of you tried coconut water? Very refreshing. I buy cartons of it from T***o. It's name begins with F and there's a picture of a green (young) coconut on it. It also comes with pure fruit juice added, but I prefer the plain.

Christine it wasn't a moan you were just talking to fiends..I think you are right if it helps you stay clear of it all... apart from the visits that is :) yes the dentist were very sly in how they did it just waited for you to miss an appointment and you are out..I have a lovely Indian one now there are around 4 dentist and they are so lovely..that reminds me my appointment is next week I think
Kath men sorry I had to laugh..my OH is hard of hearing he says not...I said what would happen if we get broke in you wouldn't hear them I could be kidnapped...he smiled.. :o good for you losing the weight its not easy especially when you are not has mobile..I will go and have a look for the coconut milk..I used to love trying to open the, when we won one at the fair

Hello Joan, Barbara, Toady, everyone. Oh I wish there was a 'like' button on this forum. Joan, I'd definitely like your comment about the bus coming to your front door. Our nearest bus stop is about half a mile away, but as we have no car I have to try my best to manage it :( It's hard work, even with my stick. Hope you enjoyed your swim. :D

Barbara, I think most men have selective deafness. Mine keeps telling me I'm deaf (I am actually) but the times I've said something and later when questioned, he hasn't heard it.

It was lovely this morning, but now it's started to cloud over.

Spoke to dad on the 'phone last night, about tracing my mum's father's family. He said I won't be able to as his surname when born wasn't the same as when he married gran - he told me a bit of granddad's history and he sounds a bit of a rogue. If I do find anything, it should be interesting.

Toni, you've had to clean up in here again. We must try harder.

Well done on the weight loss Kath. I seem to be losing at about 1lb a month. Oh well, it could be worse, I could be putting it on still. I've not tried coconut water. Seems pretty expensive but maybe I should try it. I'm trying to do my family tree. I know maybe I shouldn't want to find any rogues but it would be a talking point, wouldn't it?

Barbara I'm sure your OH would come looking for you if you did disappear. More bloods? Hope your thyroid is ok. Did you enjoy your strawberries?

Hope you enjoyed your swim Joan. How good having the bus right to your door.

Been for physio today. :D I've got to continue with the exercises as before plus another 2. it's going to take 3/4 of an hour to do them so I'll need to get up earlier every morning. :?

Hi all, just a quick 'un.. not much progress re tooth as I've had to take an appt for next week, to see my 'own' dentist.. but on the plus side, they first gave me the impression it would be longer so that then didn't seem so bad, and at least I'm still on the books. And it won't be school hols so the place won't be full of kiddies (I was thinking, 'and the dentist won't be off for school hols' but their 'children' are probably well over 20 odd by now ).

So I am having to factor in stuff before and after, including doing some nicer stuff first, and boy does that go against the grain with me :? but ah well. I will pipe down about it now til it's over, & report back after. Thanks for the offers of tea etc. :) & I'll have a piece of cake with Kath, probably safer than a crunchy biscuit.

Family tree stuff is another way to lose chunks of time, especially going round in some of the circles I have trying to track down bits of missing info. Can be frustrating when you know the facts are out there but quite a lot is still not online, or won't be traceable because of the type of info they left off BMD records etc before certain dates. Hope you find some interesting history Kath, I've never found anyone very notable or gung-ho in my past so that explains a lot.

Hope your potatoes flower fully soon barbara :D I have a few peapods on my weedy little pea plants, I don't know what's up with them they were better last year. Weather is all a bit mixed, keep promising us showers here which we then don't get, but it does feel a bit rain overhead-y. Hope your bloods come back ok too & not too many more appts for you either, glad it wasn't full at the surgery anyway. A**i, eh, did you miss out your online shopping again or was that a top-up few bits. Hope you got something nice or bargains or both.

Oh dear extra exercises applerose  does this count as a course or do you have to keep on til further notice. That takes a bit of discipline to stick to but when you are accountable to someone it's not easy to cheat either, is it. Hope he (and you) think they are helping, anyway. :)

Hope TK is feeling better, and marrianne is managing ok, glad your bus turned up nicely joan. We are losing one more per day to cover another axed route, so that they will at least have one, which is fair enough - it's all chipping away at the service though.

Christine...good for you getting up early to do the physio, or did you think twice about it..I'm afraid I was never good at keeping up with my exercises  I do my stretches but not the others...hope they help you ..hope work goes ok...
Toady..at least like you say you have an appointment...school holidays effects everything...so hopefully you will be in and out...not long...could the dentist be off to look after his GC.... oops sorry for that..yes forgot the online shopping again..think I am getting lazy...
Yes one flower on my potatoes...but I have had a quite a few strawberry's..but I am very inpatient and want them red all at once..I know what you mean about the family tree..I went back to 1700 s with my dads side...but my mums is just to the last census on line..did you know the Americans have access to the1930s records ..I would love to see those
Will see you all later hope you have a goodish day xxxx

Hello Barbara, Toady, Christine, and whoever else in in today.

It's quite warm here, but clouded over again. Feeling a bit fed up with my pharmacist. I rang in a repeat prescription last Monday. They said it would be delivered on Thursday - it actually arrived on Friday. Although two items were missing (blood pressure tablets and Adcal +D3) I asked the chappie delivering it when he thought it would arrive and he said probably Monday (yesterday). It didn't arrive yesterday and I only have one week's supply of Felodipine left. Rang up this morning to see if it will arrive today - no, we're a driver short but we can deliver it tomorrow! It had better arrive tomorrow!!

I still haven't got round to putting our garden photos on filebucket by the time I do, it will probably be winter.

Well, hoping you are all feeling reasonably well.

Toady, at least it won't be much longer before you get your tooth fixed. Glad you've got some peas. Mine didn't even germinate and I've put 2 lots in. Not sure how many sessions I'll have with the physio but I'm seeing him again ermmm, thought I'd written it in my diary. Think he said 31st. Have to check that. Yes, it is easier to get the exercises done when someone is keeping a check. He said he'd know if I didn't do them.

Barbara, I didn't get up any earlier this morning. Don't know if I could. I did do the exercises this afternoon though instead. Just about to go and do them again. You got back to 1700 with your tree? Fantastic. Wish I could get that far. Did you mention rhubarb crumble? Yummy.

Kath, that is terrible not getting your prescription when you expected it. Don't they realise people could run out because of that? Hope it does arrive tomorrow. I've taken photos before to put on here and forgotten then thought it was too late.

Only 1 tub of ice cream fell in my basket today. At least I've cut back. Fortunately, I got to work before it rained and it had stopped before I left. In between, it came down really heavy. At least I didn't have to water the garden.

Quiet so far.. will crank up the kettle and have a little of yesterday's crumble cold with some cream :)

Just waiting for the post.. 12 o'clock.. can you believe there was once a first and second post.. feel like I am not going to get much done today so I will have to creep up on a few jobs & see how I go. Weather not looking too bad so far.

Sorry your peas have let you down applerose, mine never get very tall & even less so this year but at least they came up. I read up on peas and they never sound too fussy, you get the impression they should be easy but mine don't seem to ever climb to a decent height in the first place.

I expect your strawberries will be just as well if they ripen in stages barbara then you can have some at a time instead of all at once. Unless you would like to make jam with them for the cafe. Looking forward to Kath's pics when/if they get here.. but I know how the time just goes..

No I didn't know the US records are accessible for the 1930s, there are times when that would have been handy for some of my relatives. I'm still trying to help a family friend with some of hers but with not much to go on unfortunately.

Right better go & hoover or wash something :? hope all that come in later are having an ok day & those not currently around. x

Had my sleep interrupted twice for appointments today but got my blood taken and BP is still high so to to see my GP next week.

Got so much to do but getting behind as usual....but did manage to buy cakes, yoghurts and some much needed stuff from B**ts. So I have got something done today!

Sorry to see Toady broke her tooth when she had hoped to get some time to do nice things and Applerose's family doing the usual. I expect its only you doing the contributing and I don't know how you could check to see if the others have paid their share.

Barbara I reckon you should go play on that bouncy castle, give them a letter absolving them of all fear of claims against them! How is your Son now? I haven't asked thought I'd give him time after the op to see how things go.

Hope you enjoy the swimming Joan.

Off to have a cuppa and sleep (respite day). Still need to phone in the tax credits and time is running out!
