Hello Toady, mig, barbara, Elizabeth, Joan Christine, Mr pickwick (or is it Fred?)

I had a reasonably good day yesterday, but today not so good. I'm feeling absolutely exhausted. I don't know if it's fatigue from RA or Sjogren's, or just lack of sleep in general. I wake up in pain and can hardly move first thing. I'm only taking 10mg Leflunomide at the moment, but don't want to bother the rheumy until I've seen the Dermatologist again.

Christine, thanks for offering to send me your physio, but I'm not sure I could cope with him at the moment.

mig, have you saved any of the chicken, roasties and cauliflower cheese, just reading about it has made me hungry - yummy.

Elizabeth, congratulations to your clever daughter.

Toady, do your council charge for taking household waste away. Ours do. Well, we can have six items per year collected free - either all at once, or over 2 collections. Anything over that we have to pay - £22.70 for up to 6 extra bulky items, or £14.48 for an extra 3 white goods.

Barbara, I can't swim at all and it's one of the things I regret. Terrified of water that comes past my ankles. so I really envy you Joan for you hydro sessions. Especially in this hot weather.

I bought two more pairs of flight socks on Tuesday and I've always got my 'lovely' bottle green thigh high ones the hospital gave me when I had my surgery two years ago. Think I might save those for winter, to keep me extra warm - that's if I can stand being warm by then. Hope so.

    Take care everyone. xx

Hi Mig. There you are. Happy new laptop. I'm sure you'll soon get used to it.

Joan, sorry to hear that Sue is in hospital. Hope she gets home soon.

Barbara, that is a big flag. Yes, I thought the pie sounded good. Pity about the potato. Do you think you might have hayfever if the cough is still with you? Just a thought. Lovely, finding a new skirt.

Kath, I think Mr Pickwick seemed to have got most votes. I must ask him what he thinks. Sorry you are feeling so fatigued and in pain at the moment. Is it very long before you see the dermatologist? We pay the council £10 for 3 items and a bit more if they are extra big. As far as I know, we can call them out as often as we want. The only time I ever swam properly was on holiday in Jamaica after I'd had 2 cans of Red Stripe lager. Then I could do back stroke, front crawl or breast stroke. Otherwise I'm terrified of the water and have only managed about 2 strokes at a time.

Well that's 3 days running I've worn a light rain coat to go to work because it was cloudy and not so warm and 3 days running it's been sunny and red hot by the time I got there. Still no rain. And the forecast looks good for the next few days. :D I bought a hose pipe reel from Ald* yesterday. It was supposed to clip together but some parts went together then fell apart and other parts just didn't fit so I took it back today and bought some plastic clogs. I find them so comfy. Wish they did them in proper shoe colours instead of pink or purple.

It was on the news yesterday that they were thinking of stopping 14 and under from buying cigarettes. I thought you needed to be 18 to smoke now. I did a bit of research and found that you need to be 18 to buy cigarettes, 16 to smoke them in public but there is no lower limit to smoke them in private. That shocked me.

    Afternoon all
Kath its there is nothing worse than having a good day then the next knocks us for 6..such a blinking shame...I still have my socks from my THR .but thank goodness I dont need them like you do...is it the .Sjogrens that cause the cold...
Joan I am sure Sue understands it must be so hard wanting to come home but there is no way you could manage...hopefully you will get some help...fingers crossed for you both ..
Christine I have had a few people say is it the pollen...it is all in my sinuses has well never had anything like it... :? never mind it takes my mind off my joints... It is my pet hate when things don't fit properly..its annoying having to go back..at least you treated yourself ..you be colorful it will brighten your day :D its been the same here very humid but cloudy..today is a little cooler and is trying to rain
I have got a letter today a cop of the one the Rheumy has sent to my GP, it says ..I have some form of inflammatory arthritis,,and have had it since being 12 years old bu then the gym kept id at bay till my hips went
I really struggled when young bit it was put down to growing pain...so we shall now see what the results of the scans and blood show :o
I hope all that are missing are not suffering to much...we are laying two pieces of turf in the garden..well OH is...see you all later xxxx

Joan, it's good that Sue can get in to her wheelchair, even if she does need help. Hope they can get things sorted for her.

Barbara, they have been saying the pollen levels have been really high for a while but they are a bit lower now. My eyes were very blurry and I didn't know if it was the eye gel shrinking, the drops they put in at the hospital lasting a long time or hayfever. They are a bit better now so guess it was hayfever. Hope you get the results of your scans and bloods soon and get some answers. I remember being told that every ache and pain were growing pains. Did you get your turf down today?

It was supposed to be my GS's school sports day this afternoon at 1.15. it started raining at 12.45 so it was called off and rearranged for a fortnight's time. The school fete is on Sunday so fingers crossed, although the forecast is for more rain. I got a parcel yesterday. No idea what it was. When I opened it, inside was a bottle of washing up liquid. :?

Hope everyone who hasn't been in is doing ok.

Hello Barbara Christine Toni and anyone else who's in.
i hope you all have a good weekend with not too much pain.
sue went to another ward where she can have physio. she asked if you could have side rails on her bed the nurse said you must promise not to climb through them( she has not walked for 30 years) so she had to sign a lot of paper.

Hello everyone :) barbara, TK, applerose, mig, joan, Kath & toni. Just having a catch-up.

Barbara my council tip things went on Weds :D so they weren't there long, & before all this rain, great timing. I'm right there with your mother's way of thinking, I really did consider covering the sofa up but couldn't think of a good way that wouldn't just draw more attention. But I was very tempted.

Kath yes they do charge here, a min charge for up to 5 items (once you get them to define an item) but no free collections, that would be fabulous! & would have helped a lot over the last few years. Never mind, if I was prepared to ask people I know with vans for help then I could avoid paying.. but I'm not, so there we are. Hope the socks are doing their thing but sorry you are feeling up/down, it's sooo frustrating. :(

Joan I was very sorry to read about Sue, too :( I hope it will turn out to be a mild sprain and heal quickly. Glad she is being able to have some physio on the other ward & hope to hear she's doing well. x

Hope the laptop is behaving mig. Even though I've had one for a while I have a fondness for my old pc somehow. At least you had good use of your old one, I've heard so many people with tales that they got given computers because someone was about to throw a perfectly good one on the skip. It staggers me that someone would do that but sadly we are just such an appallingly wasteful society.

Pity about your gs's sports day applerose (though I would have thanked the weather in his place, school sports, ugh..) but hope it's better tomorrow for the fete. You may not need your hosepipe reel for a bit but it might not be nice enough for the clogs either.. maybe an odd look with a raincoat! It is odd weather to dress for. Hope your eyes keep improving & it is mostly weather/pollen related. Your council is cheap too, compared with mine.

TK I don't suppose the football has been all you would have like it to be (unless you're watching it just in the spirit of the game rather than 'are we winning'); glad to hear 'all's quiet' anyway. Well done to your daughter and make sure you tell your hairdresser - I should make a lot of the MA and hopefully that will teach her to be sniffy!

Toni hope the spare room is not getting the better of you.. I tend to just look at mine and back out again.. if you have made a start, perhaps it will know you mean business and you'll get the upper hand! So glad to read your good news. :D I have been slacking in the garden so to show I have actually grown something, here is my herb dept indoors..

    basils_zpsed1beeb7.jpg
Red basil, green basil, lime basil & thai basil (finally) :D and rosemary & lemongrass. No chives or parsley yet. Still, that's plenty of basil if barbara would like to make more soup... now it's a bit chilly.. assuming the sugar ever comes out of all the pans. It's nice that she wants to cook with you. Hope the cake was a triumph in the end. :D Glad to hear you had some affirmation of having inflammatory arthritis (well not glad exactly but you know what I mean) & I hope the scans etc are helpful when you get them. Then we must get the cough to go.

Will enjoy making some tea in the nice shiny kitchen :) xx

Good to see you Toni. I start lots of things and they don't go any further. Ooh, we can see through the windows again. Thank you.

Joan, I guess the hospital have to cover themselves although why would Sue want to climb through the side rail. Hope the physio helps her.

Barbara, how lovely of your GD making a cake for her friend. I'm sure the pans will be ok till later if you've soaked them.

Bet you're relieved that your things have been taken by the council now Toady. My sister got a new laptop and 6 months later sold it and bought a tablet. I'm sure she must have lost quite a bit of money. My eyes have been less blurry for a couple of days while the pollen count was low but a bit worse today. Your seedlings are coming along nicely. I have 2 basil plants I bought nearly 2 years ago but they are looking very long and thin. Haven't tried growing them from seed.

Dad has been to a day centre for people with dementia. No idea how my sister got him there. He said he just sat there looking at the walls just the same as everyone else did and he could do that at home. Later he said there were several groups of people sat talking. My sister and I tried to convince him to try it again and there would probably be things going on. He just needed to get used to it but he wasn't convinced. Had to come home early from town today as there were pirates everywhere for Pirate Day. I was worried I'd be kidnapped and taken off to sea. My niece's son was dressed as a pirate with an eye patch and a hook.

    Morning all
Toady glad your household stuff was taken away..I am very interesting in the basil, I didn't know there were so many varieties, I might just it it a go growing my own the one I used was for the supermarket.. I have got a couple of herbs growing in my trough..but forget I have them  this cake made a real mess ..I let OH to clean the pans and I did the cooker..but it was all worth it she text to say her friend was crying when she saw it :D apparently the glass on top..ie sugar was for the breaking bad series..her friends loves it.Yes I have a sort of a diagnosis...just have to wait for the scan results..hope you are doing okish you don't say much. :)
Christine..the pirate day sounds interesting.. :D when does your niece have her hair shaves sorry I forget the date.. :? I use to take my dad to the hospice day center...suppose it would be different they didnt all have something to do with the brain..they would sit new people with certain ones that were chatty..wouldn't you think with dementia..they would try and mix the group ...get volunteers in to chat and such...listen me Mrs no it all
I am up early this morn we dropped on GD off and her sister 13 came back...she needs to get to the station for 9..she is going into Manchester to see if they can spot a boy band... :o heee to be young..
Right I will put the kettle on and get tyding up before Toni pops in..
    See you all later xxxxx

    Oh Bless them Barbara!!

Is it One direction?? Poor old Lucy has to come to my MIL's surprise 80th today :? We are fetching her, (she thinks), to my SIL's for the afternoon. All the oldies will be there plus many youngies so we can't risk staying long as Lucy is neutropenic.

Place looks tidy too....I will have a cuppa thanks c035.gif

Christine thank you for the compliment! It is brighter in here....wonder who has been writing rude words in the steam on the windows :?

Was it national 'talk like a pirate day' yesterday? Oo-arr me shipmates

Hi Toady I went back into the spare room yesterday afternoon! and did some more. It definitely realises I mean business :)

Your plants look really good. The only thing I managed have been my tomatoes and cucumbers this year which are in my messy greenhouse

Joan I must say I had to laugh at poor Sue's encounter with that nurse!! Really!!!! As if!! Mind you I expect it's 'risk assessment' and health and safety  Hope physio goes well for her.

    Love to you all

Excuse me everyone I'm feeling sick and have a headache so popping back to bed. Dan has gone out with his Dad to see the trains as they are retiring the C stock or something so its the last day.

Neighbours had a party so I had to miss the football and sit with Dan to keep an eye.It wasn't at its usual volume so they are trying.

Daughters fete was cancelled on Fri evening as heavy rain was forecast but its turned out loveley! Son's fete on Sat was a wash-out. The slide was too wet to use and the candy floss machine stopped working due to the rain. Ifeel really sorry for them as they are desperately trying to raise money for a mini bus.

Right off to rest, already had 6 neurofen (probably not helping with the sickness).

    E xxx

Joan had a laugh about your Sis being told not to go through the bars. Bless her bet she wishes she could. Hope she gets better soon.

    Hi all :)

Sorry to see you are feeling off colour TK, hope it passes soon. Such a shame about the fete, we're so dependent on the weather for anything except indoor things, it just spoils everything if it's wet - no comparison to a lovely day and as you say will affect fundraising. :( Hope Dan enjoys his train outing. Wish we had a station here. So sad how many lines were lost. A campaign to restore our branch line would be lovely but then again it's easy to say that & expect others to do the work. I looked up a C stock retirement article to read - interesting stuff. 8) A bit less noise, that's good news. :)

Talk like a pirate day is sometime in September, frog me hearty :D weevilly biscuits all round.. :? I have my antivirus set to 'pirate talk' lol :D Glad you are gaining on the spare room. Hope the 80th party goes to plan, & you can make a quick appearance & then excuse yourselves.
My herbs etc are the only upside of my gardening this year, the downside is my outdoor stuff which has mostly gone pear-shaped  I will go into gardening and catalogue all my disasters sometime.

Basil is easy barbara.. well green (sweet basil) is and I presume that's the main sort most people cook with but I suppose the others are ok.. don't actually know much about the cookery side. I like having it indoors, the smell as you said, lovely when you just disturb it even slightly. I think it's best grown new each year (so maybe that's why yours is a bit spindly applerose) but again I'm not that sure. Glad the cake was such a success, bet it was a lovely surprise. :D

Hope the fete is going ahead applerose, it's fine here but not quite trustworthy I'd say, may be ok with a bit of luck. Did you decide what plant to keep, out of the aloe vera. I have had some of my houseplants so long they are decades old :? so then I feel I can't get rid of them if I want to or not, they sort of have squatter's rights now.

Hope joan & sue are as well as can be, & others missing today, xx

Toni the bands are is it 5 seconds of summer..or 4 not sure they are Canadian I think..she went to a book sighing and got an hug..then there are the vamps..and Mc busted...not a clue who is there today but they soread the word on twitter...
I hope that you and Lucy enjoy your couple of hours at your MILs..like you say its not worth Lucy picking up some bug..but she has to get out now and then
Mig the meal sounds very nice has usual...very inventive you are ..or if its an recipe you are still clever :D
Elizabeth glad the neighbours are getting the point of being a little quieter..I hope you can get rid of that headache they are horrible when they linger..its such a shame when these school fetes are cancelled you couldn't make it up, today the weather here is glorious
Toady I will give Basil a go I use quite a lot of it..it puts flavour in my cooking  and it needs it... :| would you believe we have two stations the old one a little one on the estate not really a station but a stop off for the trains..but apparently they might be closing that one  its by far the nearest to us.
It is lovely outside and I have had an hour in the garden..not doing anything just sitting and listening to the birds :D and dreaming like you do...xxxxxx

Hello Joan, Barbara, Mig, Toady, I'm sure I've forgotten a few, but hello anyway.

Well we managed to get some washing out and dried before the heavens opened. Not complaining about the rain though as the garden was parched. It looks a bit jungly now. It's a good thing we no longer have grass or it would look even worse. We have those purply/grey coloured chippings. Grey when dry but look purple when it rains.

Hope you are all feeling reasonably well. I've tired myself out reading everyone's posts about jobs they are either doing or done.

Just laughing at the BBC 'advert' for Glastonbury where everyone says hello Glastonburrie and good old (young) Jake Bugg - a Nottingham lad through and through says "ello Gladstonberrair" It's a Nottingham thing!

Mig, my next dermatology appointment isn't until 13th August. I have a respiratory appointment at the City Hospital on 28th June. I must also make an appointment to see the good doctor P. I'm very stiff and painful first thing. Well, most of the day actually!!

Elizabeth, I hope you are feeling better after some rest.

Toni, I hope Lucy is doing well. Must go and read her update.

    Bye for now. x

Lovely your GD's friend liked the cake Barbara. It was very thoughtful of your GD to add the sugar top. My niece's head shave will be on 16th July. It's the Wednesday before they break up. On the Friday, her old primary school are having the annual picnic in the park so she is going along to help out. They are having a teddy bears picnic and they all pay to take their bears. This money will be donated as well. And our MP has sent her a card with the House of Commons logo on it wishing her well. You're right about mixing the chatty people with the newcomers at the day centre. Hopefully dad will try it again. Hope your GD managed to see the boy band.

Toni, I'm sure Lucy will be glad to get out of the house, even if it is only for a short while. Rude words on the windows? Now who was in here last night? I don't know about national pirate day but it could have been as there were rather a lot of pirates roaming round one of our towns.

Glad you got some washing out Kath. It seems much fresher doesn't it?

Mig, you have some good ideas with food. The broccoli sounds good.

Elizabeth hope you are feeling better by now. Glad your neighbours are keeping the noise down a bit. Hope it's enough. it is such a shame when the kids events get cancelled because of the rain. My GS's sports day was cancelled on Friday.

Toady, the fete did go ahead. it did threaten to rain but no more than a couple of drops. My GS had a beat the goalie. He collected the money and his friend was in goal. They made around £50. I am keeping one large and one medium aloe. I was going to give the others (about 15 small ones) to the school for the plant stall but they didn't have one. I know what you mean about house plants. I have 2 I bought as tiny plants about 22 years ago. One is huge and I have to keep cutting it back, the other has grown leggy and top heavy but I don't like to cut the top off in case I kill it off.

Joan, I hope you find Sue doing well when you go to see her.

Barbara, I agree. They often give awards to people who haven't really done much. Hope the tiredness doesn't last too long. It's good that it's helping your pain though. Hope the blood results turn out ok.

Just had to call the water board out again to unblock our drains. They were only here about a fortnight ago. Wish they could make them bigger but they said it would cost them thousands.

Hello to anyone else who calls in.
    Christine
