Barbara, have you cleaned out anything you don't need and defraged your computer. That might speed things up. How full is it with photos and documents? If it is nearly full, that will slow it down. I'm a great believer in your body telling you what it needs. How awful your cousin's being killed. I'm sure he'll have many happy memories though. I'm wishing for an Indian summer too. Don't feel as if I've had nearly enough time in the garden this year. I'd love a hedgehog but have only seen a couple on the way to the High Street that have been run over.

Mig, it rained here but it didn't bother me too much as I was in work all day. I've got plenty to be getting on with in the garden so hope we get some more nice weather soon.

I ended up working all day today. Usually have the afternoon off. My boss's mum told me not to work on Monday as my boss was still on holiday. My boss told me today, I could either put a day's holiday in or work extra hours today and next week to catch up. I need what holidays I've got left to go and visit my daughter. On the plus side, I've quite enjoyed just sitting watching tv this evening with a glass of wine and a few chocolates. :D

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hello all. Lovely to read all your posts,

Kath I hope you can get all this itching sorted but it is easier said than done. You have my sympathy as ever since coming back from Spain my itching has got orse. I thought I might have been bitten but we have been back nearly 2 weeks now and fresh places are now itching-even one ear. I was given a prescription for dry skin before I went away so must go collect that. I thought mtx was used in the treatment of cancer? It does say that people who have had cancer are more succeptable to nodular prurigo so there is probably a link.

I had issues with my laptop today so made a few changes and it seems okay now. yes XP is no longer supported so could be the problem.

I had to cancel my humira delivery for today as I haven't decided on which fridge to choose and I was advised to throw my last injection away as the temperature has been up-and-down.. The fridge with my fave layout doesn't have a temperature or door alarm, my fave fridge freezer doesn't defrost automatically  I'll make sure they take my current model away.

Applerose I'm fed up with your Sister! She has a cheek as she is going away on holiday AGAIN so she has no right to complain at you. If she cared that much she wouldn't be going away so much.

The rain has been welcome and the flowers are blooming.

Marianne I hope you are okay. Pop in anytime you feel the need. Its good to get things off your chest and nobody will be dragged down.

I'm guessing Toni has a lot going on supporting her Daughter with the purple Picc line amongst other things.

Glad you were able to go out for a birthday meal Joan.

Toady I missed you howling! I didn't even know there was a meteor shower or a full moon

Barbara hope you have a lovely time with the relative from SA. Bet you are looking forward to his visit.

I'm up later because the we all had a very long lie in so won't sleep for hours. Take care

I just lost my post too! My fault as I left it to go elsewhere and when I returned I as logged out but whe I logged back i the post disappeared.

Just welcoming Toni and Lucy back home and glad she got to eat toast and watch BB. I've not watched this series at all as I'm more into the athletics and trying to catch up onthe commonwealth games.

Why did you lose your temper Barbara? I'd like to say that's not like you but I expect you'll tell me otherwise  If its because of the keyboard I bought a new one and plug it into the laptop.

Fridge Freezer ordered. It was between a Bosch and an LG but the LG won in the end. At least I can spend time doing other things now.

Dying for a cuppa but must resist the cake and biccies.

Have been a bit tired could have slept on a washing line but just couldn't get off.I like playing majong on iPad even that didn't help.

Kath I thought mtx was used in the treatment of cancer? It does say that people who have had cancer are more succeptable to nodular prurigo so there is probably a link.

Elizabeth, MTX is used for chemo, but low doses are used for RA. I appreciate the information, I wasn't aware that have had cancer are more succeptable to NP!!

Mig, I hope the humira is doing its stuff. And I love your new smart shoes. :D Hostas like shade, but you have to make sure you put something down to deter slugs because they love them.

Toni, I hope Hilary Hick is performing well. Some of my friends had Herceptin, which is 18 infusions alongside chemo. They had a portacath put in.

Barbara, computer are ok when they work well - a d****d nuisance when they don't

Joan, we live in HA home too. It used to be a council house until the council sold all housing stock off. It seems to be happening everywhere.

Only 23 days until September 8th - and counting.

Elizabeth, I find it difficult to get what I want in kitchen white goods. They all seem to have some good points and some bad points. Glad you got sorted with one. I don't mind my sister going away as she does need a break from dad. What upsets me is that I'm expected to drop everything at the last minute and fit round them when they aren't working and the fact that they don't tell me what's going on. Hope things are still going well for you at the moment. Cakes and biccies in the cafe are calorie and everything else free so help yourself.

Good to see you Toni. Glad you're both home again. No toast in the hospital? They always have some in the tv hospitals. I didn't even know BB was still on. I gave up watching it after the first few. Hope Hillary Hick behaves herself while she's living with you.

Barbara, it is very frustrating when you lose a post. Sorry about not letting you know about the chocs and wine. I'm thinking of possibly having ice cream tonight. Creme caramel flavour if you'd like some. I think you mentioned your keyboard before. Hope it starts behaving. I'm sure you can get some very cheap ones if it doesn't. Just spotted you there. You must have been able to smell my ice cream. Your GD certainly gets around. Ant and Dec? Fantastic.

Joan, I bought half of my house through a housing association. They own the other half. The problem with that is I have to do all the repairs, painting etc myself. Hope you are having a good weekend.

Mig, your shoes do look comfy. Can we play hangman as I can't guess where you got them from? Aquilegia or campanula or bleeding hearts I think grow well in shade. I've got cyclamen under a hedge which are doing very well. Hope you get some sleep tonight.

Kath, hostas are another plant I like but, as you say, you need to deter slugs. I don't have much hosta left despite putting a few slug pellets under it.

Having another evening relaxing. Spending the day on my own with dad is very wearing. It's getting difficult to have a conversation with him as his mind jumps from one thing to another but he continues as if it's only about one subject. Never mind, I've got ice cream to cheer me up. If anyone would like some, speak up now. it won't take me long to eat all of it.

    Hi Kath,

I'd imagine it would be something to do with the immune system making you more succeptable.

strange they have no toast in hospital. I remember when my Lucy was born I must have eaten a whole loaf! Just briefly though as I was really ill after that and lost 2 stone in 8 weeks.

I like to read all of the reviews on white goods Applerose but it can do your head in. My last fridge and freezer were chosen because they looked good and luckily they turned out to be a good choice, although I decided against buying the same model as replacement. I was meant to get a dishwasher too but I can wait.

I couldn't guess where Mig got her shoes from either! Ah yes I know now! 2 words Applerose. I'm going to buy my Son some shoes from their catalogue as he can't do laces and has very wide feet. Its getting really difficult to get suitable shoes for him.

I had a bleeding heart, just the one. they are beautiful colours, even the leaves and stem. My fave for a shady spot would be a fatsia Japonica with its beautiful glossy leaves.

Barbara you need a large notice....buy food online :D

Good evening Joan. Hope all is well,

    Elizabeth xxxxx

    Ooooh good choice Elizabeth ;)

Nope no toast :( Apparently a HCO (health care assistant) caused a fire a while back so we all lost out :(

I can't imagine Barbara loosing her temper either :?

Mig I am so pleased that you have some really comfy shoes :) Best buy several pairs in

Christine sounds very hard work with your Dad now :( Bless him. You relax and unwind while you can. BB finished on Friday night and had a most unsatisfactory winner in our opinion. The celebrity version starts tomorrow.

Wow Barbara imagine meeting Ant and Dec :) One of Lucy's chemo-crew went last weekend too and had a great time.

KathT Lucy had Intrathecal MTX and also IV during some phases. The one before her prom had been that (with aspariginase and vincristine too). It was what cause her to be in with serious vomiting too :( We actively considered a portacath, because you can swim with them in being under the skin, BUT  it means a 'needle' every blood test
Are you away on Sept 8th?

Joan I hope you and Sue and Peppa are having a good weekend too :D I think most councils are going for housing association which is really only because they don't have to maintain the houses anymore. So long as they do any repairs I don't think it matters.

    Right sleeves up....

Mig, I had a look at the website, thanks. Didn't realise they were all wide shoes. There are some nice ones but too wide for me. Notes on the phone are really handy. I keep bus times on mine. I did try a shopping list but never remembered to look at it.

Elizabeth, just over a year ago, I found a leaf from a fatsia lying on the pavement when I was out. I brought it home and stuck it in a pot of soil. Now it is about 2 feet high and has quite a few leaves on it.

Oops, we've let things slip again in here. Toni has had to clean up after us again. Guess you will be watching the celebrity BB now. The portacath sounds like a good idea but having so many needles doesn't.

How silly I am. I felt too tired to think about cooking yesterday and felt like a treat so I called in for fish and chips on the way home and ended up buying not one but two cream cakes. I ate all of them during the evening and had some ice cream. Well I paid for it. Felt really ill just before bed then woke up at 3 still feeling iffy. Nodded on and off till 8. I feel fine now but how stupid can a person be.

The night before last, I chopped up vegetables, potatoes and added them to some mince in the slow cooker. Switched it on and had a last cuppa before bed. When I took my cup through to the kitchen, I switched the kettle and microwave off at the wall as usual. Next morning, I went to box up some of the mince to take to dad's to find I had switched the slow cooker off too. Doh! I had to put it on the hob to cook it while I had breakfast.

Last night, I was sitting watching tv and suddenly heard what sounded like someone chopping with a big axe. I switched the tv sound off and went to investigate, hoping it wasn't my back gate they were chopping. My next door neighbour had some friends in the garden, all laughing hilariously. Today pictures have appeared. Looks like they were chopping wood for a garden stove. Frightened the life out of me.

At least life is eventful.

Joan, that was good that they asked you what you needed in the house so they could adapt it.

Barbara, I'm terrible for eating while I'm on the laptop so get crumbs under the keys. Hope you managed to clean yours. Just spoken to my son and my baby GD was grumpy all day because she was tired.

Mig, your mums sound very pretty. Hope you enjoyed your posh doughnuts.

Can't remember if I told you but I've got a full length bookcase full of books. I decided it was time to get rid of some of the books I'm not going to use, mainly cookery and gardening books. As I was moving the books the other day, all the shelves collapsed in a heap with all the books. I managed to put the bookcase back together this afternoon and have put more books in the porch, ready for one of the charities, than I've kept. Feeling pleased with that.

Hello Mig, Toni, Barbara, Elizabeth, Joan, Christine, hope you are all as well as you can be. Wow, I need my sunglasses on in here, it sparkles so much.

Barbara, and Toni you asked about September 8th. That's when I have an appointment with my rheumatologist. Can't say it's ever bothered me before, but I'm really looking forward to it. Probably because it holds the promise of possible relief from the dreaded itch. Plus, the pain in my left shoulder and elbow is also in my collarbone now. :x

Joan, sounds as though your painters will soon be finished. It's a job we no longer need as our HA fitted PVC windows and doors, although they still have to have the soffits and drainpipes painted as they haven't got round to changing them yet.

Christine, we also have a Fatsia, it only had 3 leaves when I bought it. At its tallest, it reached 4ft. OH keeps chopping it down as it is too close to the kitchen window! I wouldn't recommend one unless you have quite a large garden. They are a jungle plant and grow well beside a pond (or lake if you have one..lol).

Oh Toni, not surprise that Lucy was sick when on Methotrexate. It is a very harsh drug for chemo. I only had 25ml subcutaneous injections which was ok, but when I took tablets, I often felt nauseous and often had blackouts. One of the nurses on our chemo unit told me of an incident where a man having mtx grabbed her, pushed her into a store cupboard and locked them both in. It was the drug that affected him badly. He did apologise profusely afterwards - scary though.
