Hello Christine, Barbara, Toady, Mig, Elizabeth and anyone I've missed.

Brrr, been cold all day. Gross information alert. Apologies in advance:

Christine, I'm afraid just rubbing won't give me any relief. Sometimes even scratching doesn't. Those of us with NP sometimes scratch for several hours at a time, it is so intense. Many of us try to get the nodules out. I squeeze mine between the nails of my forefinger and thumb and pull them out. It takes some doing. Others gouge them out with either tweezers or a needle. The pain of doing this is far better than the awful itching! It as been described as inhumane. I liken it to having a nest of ants inside each nodule, and I - like others - have almost 100 nodules. :( For anyone interested in finding out more, here is a link to a NP website. Be warned, this is the gallery page and the photos are NOT nice.

    Evening all
Toady sorry you are not feeling to good on your meds, hopefully things will get better on them..hope you managed a nap this afternoon..this hoover things is crackers ..especially if they are like mine and very rarely get used...
Kath I looked at the pics how awful for you, and I know when I was having my hip replaced one of the nurses had it..I hadn't a clue what it was...itching is bad enough..without it being so sore..I hope you can get some help with it..
went out today..but only did half hour...I see my hip man on Friday and think it is getting near to having this other hip done. good news though my son left his tablet at an hotel..and when he got back realised it was missing...traced it to the midlands somewhere..through the locations...so he thought he wouldn't see it again anyway the hotel rang ..it had been given in...very strange..but he is pleased... had loads of pics on of his step daughter and the baby..they had gone to dropbox but he didn't like the thoughts of others looking at them..now I am rambling... see you all tomorrow..xxxxx

Barbara, I bought a juicer a while back but hardly used it as I prefer the whole fruit or veg and you get all of the fibre but a lot of people like them and it is supposed to be helpful for losing weight. Emerald green bridesmais dresses sound lovely. They can't have been that unlucky if you are still together. So you think it's nearly time for another new hip. How are you feeling about it? Are you ready? Glad your son got his tablet back. That was lucky. My daughter left her husband's tablet in an apartment in Spain. The cleaners who went in straight after they left said they hadn't seen it.

Toady, hope the bad night was just a one off and not the mxt pen. Grumpy can be at times but no-one seems to take much notice. Yes it takes someone very brave and caring to look after people so seriously ill. Not something I could do either. I heard about the hoovers being banned but I have no idea why.

Kath, I had a look at the NP site. My goodness, I don't think I could cope with that. I really hope you can get some help soon.

Oh no, my son-in-law has nominated me for the ice bucket challenge. Not sure I want to do it. Everyone else has already done it so no-one left to nominate ............ unless any of you wouldn't mind me nominating you. (In case anyone hasn't heard about it, it started in the US. You have to either donate to ALS (motor neurone disease) or pour a bucket of ice water over your head. Then you have to post a video of it on facebook.)

    Hello everyone,

Phew, I was a bit anxious about my last post being a bit more than you could cope with. Thank you for your understanding. I'm so glad I don't work, I wouldn't be able to cope with that, poor nurse. :o

Barbara and Toady, no ice challenge for me, so hoping nobody puts my name forward. Found this on Wik***dia: "The challenge dares nominated participants to be filmed having a bucket of ice water poured on their heads and challenging others to do the same. A common stipulation is that nominated people have 24 hours to comply or forfeit by way of a charitable financial donation" :?

Hope everyone is feeling not too bad. x

I'm not feeling brill today but must soldier on. Final day of my 6 days of respite is tomorrow so have a few things I MUST do.

Barbara, I don't have to do the challenge. I think almost everyone has done it now so it'll probably die out. My son-in-law will probably be watching out for me doing it though. You might be best seeing about your back first then decide about your hip. My boss and his family came home last week so things are almost back to normal. Actually finished the ironing today. Normally there is always a pile to do. Hope you enjoyed your time with your niece. I'm the same, always say there's nothing to do or I can manage it when anyone offers help. Although I have asked my son to chop my hedge down to a more manageable height and to fix my door that the dog dug a hole in. Think he keeps forgetting about them.

Kath, you did warn us about your post so it was up to us to decide whether to look or not. I think it's a good idea to find out about things like that to make us more aware of other people's conditions. I knew nothing about it. Most people I know have done the ice bucket challenge. Not certain I'll do it but, I think now people know I've been nominated, they'll be watching out for my video.

Elizabeth, how frustrating to have 2 posts deleted. It's nice to know you are ok but don't feel you have to post. Hope you feel better in the morning and manage to get things done.

Joan, hope you and Sue are well and your mouth is continuing to improve.

Managed to clear some of the weeds and finished plants from the front garden at teatime. I have an orchid which is starting to flower. The buds have taken ages to grow but one of the flowers has been gradually opening over the last few hours. Another orchid has had tiny buds for about 6 months and they are not getting any bigger. Strange.

Kath dont you worry I didn't mind the pics one bit it helps us understand what you are talking about..I hadn't a clue..it must be awful to live with..itching is something I find hard because I cant get to half of them.. :o not long now :)
Elizabeth how frustrating..the baby lost my post the other day...I closed the laptop with the post on and opened it later to shoe here something and she seems to know what keys to press :? hope you got some rest on the respite day or is that today ...
Christine..glad you might not have to do the challenge ... so your boss is back ..bet it was nice and quiet while they were away..I don't know anything about orchids..apart from how lovely they are but I have had a few and they always die on me... I read about your juicers and wondered if you know anything about the nutribullet it blends the whole fruits and veg..I was watching them on a shopping channel
I had a lovely time with my niece..like I said she says do you need anything doing..n.. o I said..she works hard in a shop and I haven't the heart to get her doing jobs.. :)
I had better have a clean around while Toni's not been in..hope her and Lucy are doing ok...xxxxx

Hello you lovely cafe dwellers. Hope things aren't too bad for you. My left shoulder and arm are playing me up, and my right elbow and wrist. Now my knees have joined in the fun. Still, only 11 days to go.

Oh Elizabeth, I'm always doing that. I don't know whether to be cross with myself, or whoever/whatever distracted me. :?

Barbara, how is you son doing now? Hope all is well.

Joan, hope you are keeping well too.

I'm waiting for my prescription to arrive. They said yesterday but I think they forgot we've had a Bank Holiday. They're usually pretty good, but occasionally they slip up. :(

Unfortunately my Son has a habit of doing things twice! So if you drop an object he insists on dropping it, or a similar object, again so we get double the trouble. It is my fault for alerting him to my original mistake!

I've done well so far today and cleared up a few things I can't do when Son is around. I doubt I'll get a rest though.

I'm going to try and finish my online shopping. I have managed to buy a lovely shirt for my boy. He looked so nice in it so I need another.

Hope all is well with Toni and Lucy.

Sorry you are in pain Kath just hope your rheummy appointment can get you back on the mend.

Take care, will try and pop in later if I can,

    Elizabeth xx

Barbara, I don't know anything about the Nutribullet but I have heard that they are good. A few days in Blackpool sounds good. Hope the weather is good for you. Hope your hip appointment goes well.

Kath, it's like 'head, shoulders, knees and toes' isn't it? Only different things each day. At least you haven't long to wait now. Hope your prescription turned up today.

Elizabeth, glad you got a few things done today. Pity you couldn't get your feet up for a while. Did you manage to get your shopping done?

Joan it sounds as if you have done really well to keep walking. I'm sure the walker will help to make things easier for you.

We had one of the only 2 Lancaster bombers, which can still fly, land at out local airport last night. Thousands of people turned up today to see it. I was at work but went out in to the garden in the rain after I heard on the radio that it had just taken off to do a fly-past. Don't know what my boss thought of me standing in his garden in the rain. The bomber flew right over me and I managed to get a 2 second video of it. I'm not in the planes but it was wonderful to see it.

Hi all, a lightning visit, feeling a bit better (no more disturbed nights, just a bit tired & woolly) - out for bloods tomorrow so will be back after that at some point. :)

Am just packing a parcel that I need to take with me in the morning (who says I can't organise myself to do things ahead and at a sensible time ) so will have a last cuppa and lock up after me. I expect I am last in so it will be too late for me to give anyone nightmares by passing this on..

..after a mouse-free spell and just when I was thinking how nice it was that Tiddles seems to have slacked off hunting, this morning I found a rat on the front path. :o  :o Everyone who had been to the house up to that point (3 diff delivery/post people) must have seen it. O. M. G.

Hello Barbara, Toady, Marrianne, Joan, Christine, Elizabeth. Hope things are ok with you.

Marrianne, which poem do you mean? I notice there's another Kath who has posted a brilliant poem in the Chit Chat thread. If you mean that one, it's not me.

Toady, rats - urgh :? Years ago we lived two doors next to a stream and had a cat. She used to kill water voles and leave them on the patio. Sweet looking from the front (unlike a rat) but oh those awful looking tails. :(

Christine, it's just heads and shoulders for me. Can't manage the knees and toes. My back hurts too much. My prescription did arrive on Thursday, all except for one item which need re-authorizing by my GP. I don't understand how the system works?!?

Barbara, I'm glad they are keeping an eye on your son. But if he's like me, he will begin to feel anxious when the check up day arrives.

It keeps looking like it will rain here, then the sun comes back out. Wish it will make it one way or another. I think we might get rain eventually though as everything aches even more. :x I usually feel a bit better when it actually is raining.

Christine I would love to have seen the Lancaster..they say the noise id deafening..think I would have stood in the rain as well...I dontli8ke missing anything... :)
Talking of rats we had a factory knocked down around 10 years ago now..and all the rats went on the move..we could not believe them just walking through the gardens..they were everywhere and I was scared of going out..we ended up having the rat man in..they had got into the house by climbing up the ivy next door..anyhow he got rid but did say they will be back.. :o

O RECONDITIONED its cheap and cheerful does the job and only cost £50 i HAVE had all the washing machines over the years and have decided to just pay as little as possible as they all seem to conk on me after 2 years  Christine bet Lanc/fly past was a sight of greatness but it makes me think about the German Bombers flying past in daylight how it must have felt seeing dozens of them heading for the capital 2 weeks ago we saw one ...not a german.. flying low as we were crossing fields we joked they didnt drop bombs on Stoke as it looked bombed already but it certainly evoked a lot of feelings oh I am whittering now wishes to Toni Lucy Toady Elizabeth Joan Mig Teabag and hope not to leave anyone out that always makes me feel very sad Marrianne xx :)

Glad you are feeling a bit better now Toady. I always leave things like wrapping up parcels till the last minute. A rat? Hope you managed to get rid of it ok.

Hi Marrianne. Hope all is well with you. My boss's mum keeps telling me to try Arnica gel but I keep forgetting to get some. I need a new washing machine. Might look in to reconditioned ones. I did think of what it must have been like to see a lot of those planes flying over. Terrifying I should think.

Kath, it sounds like a right carry-on trying to get your medication, only getting some and having to wait for the rest. The weather has been the same here. The sun comes out and it's hot then it rains. By the time I get my coat on, it stops again. :?

Barbara, it was really good seeing the Lancaster go over. I saw it again today. It was supposed to set off to go to the midlands somewhere but, just after it flew over, smoke started coming out of one of it's 4 engines and it had to be shut off. Apparently, an oil leak. It's back in the hanger at our airport for repairs so might get to see it again. Fantastic sound as it goes over. That must have been scary seeing all those rats. You don't realise how many there are.

My daughter has just told me they have handed in their notice for the house they are renting. She finishes work in 4 weeks and her husband only needs to give 2 weeks notice and they will be going to live in Malaysia shortly afterwards. It's making me feel a bit sick as I don't know when I'll see them again after that. They don't have jobs or anywhere to live but my daughter has contacted a director in Singapore who belongs to the same company she works for now so fingers crossed.

washing machines tend to conk out on me after 2 years too, regardless of which brand I buy.

Rats.....years ago, before all the noise issues prevented him from going in the garden, two friends knocked on our door and said my Son was swinging a rat by its tail. Luckily it was dead.

Christine I saw the pic of the Lancaster spewing out smoke. What a shame. Why Malaysia? They are taking a gamble if they have't got jobs but then they obviously like a adventure and it is a beautiful country.

I'm up late but about to go up to bed. Glad you managed a good sleep yesterday Toady.

Barbara I always found my hip caused my back pain. It stopped after the THR although now the other hip aggravates my back.

Right off upstairs, will read my book for a few hours as my Son won't go to sleep for a long time.

Forgot to mention the cucumber is a little odd shaped I'm afraid!
