The cafe has been busy (but no Toady):(. Thank goodness Toni gave it a clean.
I like celebratory BB. I can really get into that! Now who have we got this year? Last year was mad. I'm no fan of Jim Davidson but one person had it in for him and kept picking fights. I don't like that sort of behaviour.
Well Fridge/freezer has arrived and also my 2 new kitchen chairs. Both lorries turned up exactly the same time  and neither parked over our drive as specifiedI have a lovely new rug too. It didn't look right in the front room where I planned to put it as it is so busy with loads of books. Too much going on in that room for my liking so I put it in my bedroom where everything is hidden behind sliding wardrobe doors and it looks lovely.
Fatsias can fill a shady corner beautifully. They are a bit like laurel though and need regular cutting otherwise they can take over. I got the impression that Mig had a large space to fill, replacing a lilac. I also like Vinca major too but they are more like ground cover.
Frank Lampard has just moved to play for man city-up your way Barbara. No the holidays have dragged by for me. I cannot believe we have only been back from Spain a fortnight. Anyway respite day tomorrow and he is off to play golf for the first time. I hope your windows are nice and sparkly now.
Applerose I like to see books in a house and hate to part with any. We had take-away too, KFC and I was very good and only had one piece of chicken and 1/4 bag of chips and that filled me. My diet is going very well but I have to eat small amounts to make any difference. However I have just had a few squares of chocolate as a treat.
Joan I'm glad you are getting your house all spruced up.
Hope Marianne is feeling okay. I shall put the kettle on for those missing and hope they feel able to pop in.
Love to you all

Barbara, I've been able to cut back on books because I have an e-reader now so can download borrowed books to read and I always look up recipes on the internet. Couldn't bring myself to throw them all out though. I dread to think how much I've spent on them. My youngest GD likes her sleep. Normally, she starts to get grumpy so they give her blanky and she puts her head down on it and off to sleep she goes. She has two 10 minute naps a day, goes to bed about 5.30 and wakes up at 6.30 and plays in her cot till someone goes in for her. She slept through right from day one. Amazing. She was grumpy the other day because they'd gone out so she didn't get her naps. My second youngest GD used to be up half the night until she got to a year old. Now she takes herself off up to bed for an afternoon nap and in the evening. My youngest GS doesn't need an afternoon nap now and would rather not go to bed at night. Too many things to do.
How lucky to see Frank Lampard and Christine Blakely as well as Ant and Dec. I can't see through my living room or kitchen windows. Both badly steamed up inside.
Joan, sounds as if your painting is nearly finished. Hope you are able to get in and out of the house if you need to.
Kath, I have seen huge fatsias in public gardens/parks. I've kept mine in a pot. Was thinking of putting it in the ground as I didn't think they grew very quickly but, from what you say, maybe they do. I was offered methx but told to have a good think about it first. When I went back, my rheumie had changed his mind about giving me it. It does sound as if it can have some bad side effects. The poor nurse. it must have scared her. And the poor man when he realised what he'd done.
Elizabeth, ooow, nice new things. Glad you found the right place for your rug. You too are saying that fatsias can take over. Guess mine is staying in it's pot. Might let it have the next size up though. Is the vinca the one with blue/purle flowers? Hope your son enjoys the golf and you manage to have a peaceful day. One piece of chicken and 1/4 bag of chips? You are good. I would have to eat it all. I think you need a treat now and again when you're dieting. Otherwise it is more difficult to stick to it. Thanks for putting the kettle on.
Managed a full night's sleep last night so managed a full day's work without feeling tired. My boss wants someone to do some gardening, just weeding and cutting back, as his gardener's wife is ill and he can't get there for a few months. I'm thinking of saying I'll do it. Just trying to decide if I could manage it.Christine0 -
Hi all, busy the last few days I see.. I will catch back up and pop in in the next couple of days,
everyone seems to be doing fairly well, nice of TK to ask after me I must say.. I'm ok just too much to do & not enough energy & time to fit things in sensibly (well discipline as well, I daresay, don't seem to have any of that.) Back soon, hope everyone has a good night, will be watching celeb BB also, on +1, time well spent I don't suppose! but ah well.
I will take advantage of that kettle 'someone' kindly left on, and admire the shiny surfaces.xxx.

Elizabeth..sot hat was why frank was going into the posh hotel..glad you have found a place for your new rug dont they just brighten up a room...says me that got rid of mine..glad your kitchen things turned up at the same time saves you waiting for them
Christine..the baby will fight to the end not to miss anything..she was very good when born and slept through but now shes older..you can only give the gardening a go see how you feel..hope they make it worth it for you...
Toady good to see you around only to know that you are doing okish..I hope..apart form meeting yourself coming backI used to be so organized but like you things are put off..never mind I am sure it will come together .. :? says me..

Early for me, so I will put the 'twelveses' on.. or whatever it will be by the time I finish, it's post-mtx day so bear with me I am slow and bits aren't working well, like barbara's laptop.
I am sitting choosing paint colours to order testers, I have got a selection of 12 so far including crispy crumble, elderflower tea, and biscuit crunch.. yes they are paint colours I'm not reading the cafe menu by mistake  I will have to narrow it down a bit from that, or me that can't make a decision out of 2 of something will have no chance. :?
Glad to hear TK's fridge is in and hope it is settlingooh, sliding bedroom doors, how nice.. beats untidy clothes rails  I love having books around too (partly why i haven't gone in for kindles etc) but haven't the ideal place for them; when I get my fantasy house I will get the bookshelves of my dreams
and lovely timber windows, I am resisting replacement upvc but one day I will be forced to cave in I expect.. blah.. mine are beyond painting up nicely like joan's. Hope they finish the work well and have done a good job.
Lots going on with applerose, collapsing bookcases, sinister chopping noises in the garden, and that nearly-out-of-the-window moment (I think a lot of us get that urge to jump thing  it's quite common I believe. Have never been anywhere really high like the Eiffel Tower but I bet I would get it up there). Have a huge, huge envy for people with good heads, that can do extreme climbing &c.. in my next life I am definitely coming back as someone with fantastic balance. Ok a cat will do.Hope the gardening goes ok if you do decide to agree to take it on.
Hope mig can decide on some plants too.Gardening has not gone as planned this year but I am slowly getting some salad if nothing else. Have had 2 separate goes at getting ranunculus bulbs to grow but they don't seem happy, in the ground or in pots so I don't know if they are difficult or it's me, if anyone has any tips. Nice shoes, it took me as long as everyone else to twig the brand.
Roll on Kath's appt & hope it's useful. Not bored at all hearing about your pc & tech setup, I always like to hear what people have got.. what they use & how they use it.. still have a pc with XP on myself, about which I should really do.. er.. something.. :? Amazes me how many people sell tech on "wellknown auction site" pushing 'has fresh install of windows xp' as if that is somehow a good thing and a selling point.. well not really.
My 'buyer collect' item ended for opening price with 1 bidder, after umpteen watchers, 100s of views, & various questions, some silly some cheeky, all the usuals. That's selling for you.At least the buyer isn't coming til the end of the week, so more tidying up time.
Well I was putting the kettle on wasn't I.. then back to the jobs.. yes we need a holiday barbara, summer creeping well on & I've spent too much of it indoors. I'll go & clean my upstairs windows if you will, it's on the list.Glad your GD saw Ant & Dec, they will be back on soon with 'I'm a Celeb' I suppose, lord knows who they will put in, if it is the leftovers that CBB didn't want then it will be a motley lot.. good gracious. :?
Tea for anyone passing, love to marrianne & all currently missing.. hope bubbles is alright.. love to Frog too. xx0 -
Hello everyone, hope things are going well for you.
Toady, I think I've sorted the gammy PC out finally. I ran antimalwarebytes, a free program from Fil* hip** and it cleared over 160 issues.I'd removed a lot of software, even the Chr**e browser, so ended up using IE. It was ok, but sooooooo slow. Now I've reinstalled Chr**e again and fingers crossed, all is ok again. Thanks for making the tea, think I'll just have a couple of Ric* Te* biscuits with a cup.
Christine, aren't e-readers great. I used to have a Ko*o but it had a fault. But now I use my iPa* which has a reader on it. It also takes PDFs, and I have loads of health booklets in there - quite a lot from Arthritis Care. Yes, MTX does have nasty side effects. Liver damage for one. When I used to take it alongside my Leflunomide, my GP and nurses were scared of me.
Elizabeth, I'm glad your fridge/freezer arrived, and I bet your new rug looks lovely in your bedroom.

Glad you are gaining on your pc Kath
I like malwarebytes too and free is always good (thought the paid version has more features as per usual) - not all of the issues it finds are the worst sort are they, probably the same with your 160+, but the more it can tidy up the better.. not surprising IE was adding to your slowness, it's not a good combo now, with xp, is it. I do still have it on my machine because one day I will have to combine the IE favourites with my current firefox ones, and the ones I had when I used chrome, and it makes my head spin to think of sorting them.. way too many. I tend to bookmark pages rather than sites and they just spiral out of control because once I put something in a subfolder it gets a bit lost so it's pretty much one looong list. Did you really scare your nurses on mtx
wow, that's a not altogether bad side effect; mind you, I do my best to be scary on my own account.
Glad you had some tea, I meant to say, tea & a plain bic sounds like the right thing to offer applerose after the overeatingmaybe hide the cake for a day or two.
Sorry the sore mouth has returned joan, I'm sure antibio's are the last thing you want now. When the fortnight is up maybe you can see your own doctor again?
Forgot about the bank hol coming up again so bear it in mind anyone with appts to book.
More tea & some sort of belated lunch I suppose. x0 -
Evening all
What a lovely day they said it was going to be a bad week.. :?
Poor Joan so sorry your mouth is sore again, and it had just cleared up..I hope the ABs work for you
Toady..think I will have a look at this malwarebytes there is something going on with this laptop..
Kath the MTX sounds scary...the poor nurse think I would have had a breakdown.. not long now count in weeks its shorter... :? glad you got the pc sorted
It our anniversary on the 23rd just remembered..and its 45 years..blinking ekjust asked him as he organized something..well you do all that he says..
I have made..well my GD has lemon cupcakes they are lovely..so will put the kettle onLove

Barbara, that must be so annoying with your space bar not working properly. Glad you got some ironing done. Hope you manage to find somewhere to go to celebrate your anniversary.
Toady, what are you going to paint? I did a basic design course quite a few years ago and, when I put a mood board together, the tutor said there was enough for 2 or 3 rooms. I just couldn't decide what I wanted. I've been on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. So glad the rest was closed off. I still couldn't go near the edge though. I did nearly jump off a tower on Durham Cathedral. Had to shout my husband back to grab hold of me. I'd love to climb a mountain or jump out of an aeroplane. If I see an interesting page, I always bookmark it to look at later then forget about it so I have a great long list too. Hope you got your windows done.
I have a Nook e-reader Kath. It's been great till a couple of weeks ago. Now it freezes up when I wake it up and won't let me unlock it. If I do get it unlocked, the touch screen doesn't work. Glad you've sorted your pc out.
Joan, not a sore mouth again. Hope the antibiotics work quickly.
Was going to have a cuppa and a slice of cake but I can't find any. Did you hide it Toady? I'll just have the cuppa then.Christine0 -
Hi all, Sorry not been around today sorting shed out ,how can one shed hold so much junk, son has taken it to the dump.
Guess none of us will be around much tomorrow, let's hope we are back up and running smoothly in the evening.Take care all. Mig0 -
Just thought I'd post a quickie before we close down for the night. Good job Toni gave the cafe a good clean the other day.
I'll just shift this couple of cobwebs that have reappeared overnight.
Hope everyone is well and won't get any withdrawal symptoms while the cafe has a break.
Toady, you don't scare me. But you do make me laugh.
Mig, from experience, it won't take long to refill your shed again.
Christine, what a pain for you not being able to get into your Nook reader. :?
Barbara, it's ok the nurse being scared but I'm the one who was taking it. I used to get bruises whenever I'd injected. But still want to get back on it.
Joan, oh no, not a sore mouth again. Hope it doesn't last as long as the last one did. xx
Well, I guess we will have to wait and see if the changeover was successful tomorrow."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

I hadn't a clue the forum was down today.. I knew it was imminent till I tried to get in...
Toady sorry I didn't get to clean my windows..but got some ironing done..hope you got the paint sorted I am useless with colour ..so all my house is magnolia..
and white of course...
Kath I hope they can help at your appointment and hopefully they might give you the MTX back or am I getting mixed up again and you cant have it...sorry its one of those days :?
Mig glad you got your shed sorted..we knocked ours down and then all the junk is now in the garage
Christine my OH wont have a reader he loves the feel of books..so we are stuck with them..and I was the one that got him into charity shops so he buys loads...sorry there was no cake not a clue who had it...
Joan..I hope your mouth is getting better.there is a spry you can get thats good but I have forgotten the name I am sure the chemist will know
Hope everyone's doing okish...still don't know if Marrianne got a new washer..will see you all tomorrow...xxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Mig, glad you got your shed cleared out. Bet you feel better for it.
Kath, cobwebs do have a habit of doing that, don't they?
Barbara, I love the feel of books too but started to find them a bit heavy when I was lying down in bed reading them. I accidentally ordered two e-readers and offered one to my DIL's mum but she didn't want it as she liked books and felt she was helping charities by buying them there. That problem you had with your space bar, is it catching. Mine is sticking now and so is my 'e'. Have to hit them hard.
I know the site was due to be down today sometime. I've only just come in so not sure if it's been done or if it's overnight tonight.Christine0 -
Morning all
Christine.oh no not you with a sticky keyboard...and certain letters not working..then you have to go back and put them in  I type looking down then when I have done have to put spaces in...
I have the same prob with books in bed ..I have OA in my thumbs ...are the readers lighter to hold suppose you don't need to hold the pages back
My eldest GD will be picking up her exams results today..so annoying that they have been caught up in the changes that have downgraded lots of people whey cant they leave things a lone.. but suppose she is one of many...
Today we still have our middle GD here ..mustn't bee any celebs in town..
OH working..and I am meeting my friend for coffeewill have to be a taxi there are no buses nearby..hope you all have a goodish day xxxx

Barbara, my keys seem ok tonight. Maybe I have broken up all the crumbs under them.
I find my e-reader light and you can hold it with one hand although I got a hard cover to protect it so it's a bit like having 2 pages. Hope your GD got good results. Hope you enjoyed your time with your friend.
Joan, glad you got your antibios. Hopefully, they'll kick in soon.
They've started clearing the field near me ready for building. What a noise they are making. I feel sorry for the people who live right next to it. I was walking to work this morning and saw a pigeon sitting on a high fence looking at me. As I looked at it, it turned away. When I turned away, it looked back. Probably my imagination but it was very funny at the time.Christine0 -
Morning all
Joan glad you got the meds from the chemist we get that regular can you come back for the rest of them or we will have these in tomorrow..did try the delivery but even that got messed up..hope your mouth is feeling a bit better
Christine..thanks for the info on the reader...I might well try one..my GD did better than she thought..especially in English and maths I told her these are the important ones..so they have started building on the field..its awful how every bit of greenery is being built on..and no stopping them  we have been to many a meeting all for nothing..we have fields at the front and back so I worry they will be next and we have lived here for 40 years
Our anniversary tomos 45 years not a clue what we are doing..my GD says its Sapphire...that will do....I enjoy meeting my friend yesterday, she has Parkinson but is doing well on her meds, what a pair we were in the cafe..I was trying to help her get up and she was helping me..
Today I am window cleaning honest... :? xxxxxxLove

Hello Barbara, Mig, Toady, Christine, Joan and anyone else I haven't noticed.
Barbara, my chemist is pretty good with my prescriptions. It's the GP that sometimes gets it wrong!! I ring and order what I need, they sort it, and then deliver it. Sometimes it doesn't always arrive together, but mostly it does. I've rung an order in this morning - 8 items and that's not everything on the list.
Joan, glad you got your antibiotics, hope they work quicker than last time. Not nice having a sore mouth.
Christine, couldn't help but laugh at your 'pigeon' experience. Perhaps he was hoping you might feed him.
No news from me today. Except that last night I folded my duvet in half and pulled it up over my shoulders to keep warm, but left my legs uncovered so they wouldn't get too warm and start itching. It worked."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

I'm really pleased report my Son got the required 6 B's to continue onto 6th form. He only got D for computing and this could be an issue. I'd like him to continue with maths but he didn't want to. He got a D for science but he was always so good at this subject as a child and don't know why he couldn't this for his later years.
He has speech and language issues and has a diagnosis of ASD so I think he has done really well. He's nothing compared to my 2nd So though!
Well done to your GD Barbara and big congratulations on your Sapphire wedding anniversary.
I have malwarebytes too. It is used for clearing any threats but you would need a different anti virus to run alongside it.
Kath I also have items missing from my prescription list. There's no omneprazole nor plaquenil listed so they have to put an extra note on for the GP.
I recently saw a review for a new Nook e-reader with a better light so you can read at night. I don't own an e reader yet but find my thumbs hurting after a few pages so will have to consider one.
What a shame they are building on the fields Applerose.
Glad you finally got your meds Joan, I'm sure it was worth the wait.
Well my diet is going well. I'm now down to my pre-Christmas weight.
Didn't realise the site was down but then I had other things going on yesterday.
Take care all,

Afternoon all Kath glad the legs are keeping cool..still lovely weather here and nothing but rain was forecast  my GP is a pain when it comes to meds..my patches I have had for over a year now but still not on repeat..so I put a note in and they ignore it so OH has to check or go back..oops sorry a rant...
Elizabeth thankyou...and good on your son for doing so well in his exams with all he has going on , just goes to show whet can be done, my GD got a couple of Ds in science her mum talked her into taking 3 so she found it really hard..but got a B in her Art which she loves..and a B in Maths she didn't expect this...
also a pass in food technology and she didn't expect to do ok in that..bet they are glad to have that over with ...I have been sat in the garden watching the butterflies..there are more now than a few weeks ago when it was hot..hope everyones doing okish

Is she staying on for 6th form Barbara? #
It is a nuisance having to keep asking for meds that should be on repeat isn't it?
No sunshine here but still lovely and calm and autumnal.

Barbara, there are quite a lot of e-readers to choose from. Mine was only £30 and is basic. Some have a light on them and some are easier to read than others. Well done to your GD doing better than she thought. It's awful isn't it, living there for so long to have it all changed. Hope you have a good day tomorrow whatever you decide to do. It's good that you and your friend can laugh about helping each other. Are your windows sparkling now? Mine are not.
Kath, the pigeon was funny. Something similar happened with a dog today. It was a boxer. He was standing with his back to me and looked round at me, turned away and back then blinked seeming to do a double take.Glad the duvet folding helped keep you warm and helped with the itching.
Elizabeth, congratulations to your son. He did really well. With an e-reader, you still have to either tap the screen or press the button at the side to change the page but you can use different fingers. You're at your pre-Xmas weight already. Well done you. Wish I could get my head round not eating rubbish but don't seem to be able to at the moment.
My boss's wife brought me a cuppa today while I was ironing. She said her son had found a house share for when he goes to uni so he'd be coming to ask me to show him how to iron and use the washing machine. Ermmm, isn't that his parents job? :?
There's a consultation going on at the moment to build a health and fitness centre at the edge of our town. If it goes ahead, it will be on the old golf driving range. We've been asking for a swimming pool for as long as I can remember. We think it will be membership for the club but have been told we can get a reasonably priced day ticket for the pool.
Hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend.Christine0 -
Good morning everyone
Such good exam results in the café
I am really pleased for you all. Lucy did very well too considering that, at exam time, she was only awake for 2 hours a day!!
Anyway my biggest worry is stopping child benefit stopping hers because we haven't been able to sort out what she is doing next month!!! Nasty people there considering the law says they have to remain in education now till they are 18!!!
Actually that really isn't my biggest worry! Who cares about that lot in the grand scheme of things?
Barbara HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
a fantastic achievement!
I promise to try to catch up soon
love to you all and ((()))

Morning all
And thankyou Christine and Toni...
Toni like you say let the government worry about the benefits ... you concentrate on what is important ..I am amazed at what Lucy did...no wounder you are proud..hope you have a lovely weekend..
Elizabeth yes our GD is going to 6th form she could have stayed were she was they have a 6th form but she is moving and wants to do Art..and design I think..
Christine..I will have a look at these readers..I did borrow one off my GD but didn't have it for long...so your bosses mum whats you to show her GS how to wash and iron..yes its mums and dads job..my tow could do that when they left home and could knock up a meal...I remember my dad showing me how to iron...he was in the army...so had to be just so..think that is why I don't like ironing...
We have decided to to a tappas bar in town...one thing I love because I cant eat much so bits of everything is perfect..and the sun is shinning.. :DPS not got a card mind you I didnt get him one...
Hope you all have a good weekend...xxxxxxLove
