I didn't get to post last night. Got too tired. Will try to catch up.
Marrianne, hope the vampires were gentle with you. 15 weeks till Xmas? It's on the same date every year but it always seems to creep up.
Barbara, you must be in Blackpool now. Hope you are having a lovely time.
Joan, hope you and Sue are having a good week.
Mig, my daughter and her husband went to Faulty Towers. They had such a laugh. Hope you do too.
Toady, wish they would leave the buses alone. Messes everyone up. Thanks for mentioning the post boxes. I hadn't heard about that. I very rarely send letters (so probably partly my fault) but I'll need to remember about that.
Hello Kath. Brilliant news about the cancellation. Hope the appointment goes well and you get some answers.
Dad has to go for blood tests, ECG, chest x-ray and more blood tests as his kidney function isn't so good. He's in a wheelchair for now till all that's done at least. My daughter has been talking to someone from her company in Singapore who is now keeping an eye open for jobs for her. My niece was supposed to come and cut my hair on Saturday but forgot to bring her scissors home. We rearranged for Monday night but her mum said she had to clear her bedroom ready for a new bed today. She said she'd come tonight but I'm still waiting. The salon is closed tomorrow so she won't be able to get her scissors. If she doesn't come by Thursday, I'll have to go in to the salon as my hair is getting a bit out of hand now.Christine0 -
Hello Kath Christine and anyone else who's in
Kath i hope you get a good result tomorrow. good of them to remember you.
Christine i hope you got your trim.

Hello joan I hope you have been having a good day today. It has not been so sunny but still nice, I have been in the garden or resting mostly.
I hope you got your hair done one way or other applerose. Have been meaning to ask how long Erin's hair is getting now.Fingers crossed your daughter's contact is useful, also that your Dad's tests go well though it is extra worry. Not too many separate appts I hope.
Will put the kettle on for Kath & anyone calling in. xx0 -
Hi Joan and Toady. No, still haven't had my hair done. My niece's salon is closed on a Wednesday so she couldn't get her scissors so it's either tomorrow or I think I'll go in to the salon on Friday. They are having a coffee morning for Macmillan Nurses so could do both things at once. Thanks for asking about Erin's hair. it's about 1/4 inch long now. Poor thing has been mistaken for a boy a few times now. She also tripped and bent her toe so is wearing a boot for a few weeks as they're not sure if she has broken it or not. I think dad does have separate appointments for each thing, some at the hospital and some at his GP's. Can't understand why they don't do it all at once at the hospital.
I saw VeRA, the Lancaster bomber, doing a test flight this morning and she left for Coningsby just after lunch. Our local secondary school is on a programme which is running once a week till Xmas. it shows the local schoolchildren as they leave primary school for big school. My GD and niece are both in the programme. Didn't see them in today's episode so maybe next time.
Very quiet tonight. Thanks for leaving the kettle on. I'll leave it for the next person.Christine0 -
Had a fantastic time at the matinee performance of the" Faulty Towers"the dining experience, great cast and food met some lovely people.Mig0
-
Where is everyone this morning ?shall just sit with a cup of coffee and relax.Mig0
-
Is quiet.. think I might have coffee as well.. maybe make myself a toasted sandwich.. see if there's any cake.
If I can stay awake I'll do some stocktaking & tidying while we're quiet.
Glad you enjoyed your matinee mig. Hope everyone else is doing ok today. x0 -
Hello Mig, Barbara, Toady, Christine, Joan, Elizabeth and Toni. Hope I've forgotten nobody.
Thanks Toady, cake and coffee for me too. Hope everyone is ok today.
Well, my rheumy has come up trumps. She has doubled my Leflunomide to 20mg and put me on Prednisolone 40mg (8 tablets a day). She has to speak to my oncologist about whether I can go back on Methotrexate or not, if not, which can she give me, as some of these drugs can cause a recurrence of breast cancer and I didn't know this. :? Anyway, she has a good selection, as well as MTX I might have Sulfa, Hydroxy, gold injections etc. I don't mind Sulfa as I've been on those before and was ok with them. She did offer me a steriod infusion as it would work quicker than tablets. But as that might not have happened before next week, I opted for the tablets and that way I would feel as though I was being pro-active instead of sitting waiting. Besides, the tabs might kick in by next week anyway.
Mig, I'm glad you enjoyed your Fawlty Towers Experience. Sounds great.
Christine, how exciting it must have been to see VeRA doing a test flight. My grandparents used to have a caravan in Tattersall in the 50/60s. Stayed there often and used to walk into Coningsby village. I used to like the one handed clock on the church tower. Is it still there?
Oh well, think I'll have some more cake - blame it on the steroids..."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Sounds like the good doctor P has come through for you Kath, well done ,we are lucky to have her. Mig0
-
Glad you enjoyed Faulty Towers Mig.
Mmmm, toasted sandwich sounds good Toady. Must pop in tomorrow lunch time for one.
Glad your appointment went well Kath. Hope you get the rest sorted out soon. I'm not an aeroplane person but yes, it was great to see her (3 times). Sorry, I don't even know where Coningsby is so can't help with the one-handed clock. Sounds interesting though.
Finally, got a message from my niece saying she had brought her scissors home tonight so she's just been and cut my hair. Think she took off more than she left but that is good. I feel so much lighter (hmmm, maybe should get weighed now).
Everyone seems to be eating cake. Is there any left for me please? And a cuppa, I think.Christine0 -
Yes mig, we certainly are. Although she wasn't very pleased with me. Said I should have rung to make an appointment sooner, as I am in rather a mess - her words.
Christine, a good hair cut makes you feel so much better. Glad you got it done."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Had a busy few days with the children returning to school .
I decided to do a tidy up and completetly messed up my ankle. I could not walk. Lovely Lucy made me tea and looked after me.
Dan is 15 today, and he chose a couple of presents but I also have one of those sensory light changing bubble tubes coming next week, plus a big cushion to sit on and a massage pillow and a chewy toy (he currently eats the metal from coke cans or the plastic lids of bottles so wanted an alternative).
Anyway I have wrapped his presents and baby no.2 is visiting tomorrow. I love to see her!
I'm so pleasd you got an earlier appointemnt Kath.I've just run out of Sulfa and have to wait a few days for my prescription but hope the meds help you. Was it a change you eeded or weren't you taking very much before?
Had great fun doing family tree this week for Lucy's homework as I found a page a relative had already started. There was loads of old Victorian photographs too.
I love Fawlty Towers, could watch it for ever.It just makes me laugh thinking about it. I made Lucy watch Blackadder the other day, the firing squad episode but she didn't find it funny. I think she is a bit young for that humour.
Let us know when your GD and Niece are on the TV Applerose. Lucy was in a very small clip last year, a programme about Autism of all things but not connected to her Brother!I watched half of the episode before I realised it was their school!
starving so must et something to eat and then I'm going to watch a proramme somebody has linked on Facebook for me.
Take care all

Hello everyone.. just stopping for a cup of tea, seems to be dropping darl early this evening, oh deary dear..
Welcome back barbara, has been rather quietglad you had a good trip & such good weather, been a really nice little spell these past few days, grateful for it here. Don't do all your sorting out at once, remember pacing.. (blah  )
Happy birthday to Dan TKhope all goes well & for tomorrow's visit. Family tree stuff sounds great, is there much stuff there that you hadn't seen before & new info? Mind yourself when tidying up - annoying when you just want to 'get at' stuff though isn't it.
Glad you had a good appointment Katheven if you were tutted at (I've had that myself, though I think tutting would be putting it mildly when I was being naughty & jibbing at taking meds) - hope the steroid tabs are ok, have to say I had an infusion & it was worse than useless, so wouldn't be my first choice either. Just a matter of waiting to see if you can have the mtx then. Plenty of cake in the meantime if you find it to be of medicinal benefit.
Nice haircut applerose.Sorry to hear Erin has a suspect broken toe. I did something similar once & they didn't want to do anything about it, mine must have been simpler. Hope it mends quickly.
Hello to mig & everyone not posting today yet, joan & marrianne & those reading. xx0 -
Sorry to hear you've hurt your ankle Elizabeth. Hope you've been able to rest it. That was good of Lucy to look after you. Happy birthday Dan. I've got a bubble lamp in the loft. I loved it but got a bit feed up and put it up there. Keep meaning to get it back out again. What luck finding the relative's page and the photos. So your Lucy is a film star too. Seems like fun for them.
Glad you had such a lovely time Barbara. Sounds as if they looked after you well. Pity you're having payback but bet you think it was worth it.
Thanks Toady. My GD broke a bone in her foot and they only gave her a boot to wear too.
Went in to B*yes today as the sale had started. And I found a red bath mat and pedestal set. I got a bath mat from Asd* a couple of years ago but have never found a pedestal mat so pleased with that. Also got a new shower curtain with owls on from Ald*.
Hope you all have a good weekend.Christine0 -

Itching is diminishing
pain has all but gone.
I'm feeling rather better,
I don't think it will be long
Before I'm back to normal -
that's if I ever was!
So this tiredness that I feel
will no longer make me cross.
Hello Barbara, Joan, Christine, Toady, Elizabeth and whoever is sitting in the corner.
Oh dear, sounds as though various people have problems with ankles or feet being injured. Hope all recover soon.
Glad to hear you had a good break Barbara. I think one week is long enough, as any longer can get a bit too much - and think of all that washing when you get home.
Elizabeth, I hope you get your Sulfa soon. I was originally on 25ml Methotrexate injections with one 10mg Leflunomide. All went well for about 5 years, then I got cancer and needed chemo so had to stop the Methotrexate. Still took the Leflunomide though. I felt so well when the chemo finished, that my rheumy left me alone to see how I got on just with 10mg Leflunomide. That obviously didn't work for long, hence the need to start the steroids for a while. I don't mind Sulfa, when I had it before it worked very well, so if methotrexate is a no no, there's other choices she can give me.
Oh the hungry munchies have kicked in now, so I'm off to sit by the window and scoff ginger biscuits with a nice cuppa."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

*sniff* ginger bics.. don't mind if I do, Kath.
Will go nicely after the coffee I had with joan earlier.
I'm glad the horrid itching
Is not so very much
Let's hope it goes completely
and you kick it into touch
Yes well. :oops:Pleased you're getting some benefit! & that you have a few options open to you.
Thanks so much for the rock barbarawhat lovely flavours! Perfect on a nice sunny day. Just been in the garden, my lateish salads seem to like this weather, my amaranth greens have come up in barely a couple of days. Spinach on way up & hopefully will not get nommed by anything before me. Think I could do with a little coldframe of some sort for when it's too hot in the greenhouse, just to give things a bit of protection.
Glad you got some bargains applerose. I have seen owls on quite a few things they are obviously very 'in' at the moment. Never had a lava lamp as the 70s (or 60s) were not my thing but a lot of things from round then have come around again lately, fashion, decor etc.. all that orange green & brown.. ooh not for me really.
I fell off a horse once on a school holidaynever went on one again although that wasn't the reason, just didn't particularly get the opportunity. Lucky I didn't break anything really, I know health&safety gets a bad press but we were phenomenally unsupervised at times when I look back.

Joan, hope you and Sue are enjoying your weekend and the weather is good for you. it's been raining here.
Barbara, dad seemed a bit better today but kept nodding off. He's hardly eaten anything since last week. His stomach was growling all the time but he said it wasn't him. More tests next week then, hopefully, we'll find out what's going on. Thank you for the rock. I'll have it while I watch the X Factor. So you're off again in 2 weeks. Where are you going? Hope you get rested over this weekend.
Like the poem Kath. Very good. Hope you are nearly back to normal.
And Toady is doing poems too. Hope I don't have to. Not very good at it. Glad your salads are doing well. I've got a bit of straggly lettuce on my windowsill. I've seen owls on birthday cards. There are some lovely ones. I had all the browns and oranges way back. Loved it then but not any more.
Got a message from my cousin saying she wants to come down from Scotland with her mum and another cousin wants to come up from Southampton with her mum for a girly weekend next month. I told them I'll be away one weekend and my daughter and her family will be staying another weekend. My sister has told them they can stay at my house so they've gone ahead and arranged it for the weekend my daughter will be here.
Can't remember if I told you but I was in the garden the other day and I could hear the 4 year old girl next door at the bedroom window. I looked up at her and she shouted, "My mum's grass is bigger than your grass." I was in stitches. Especially as her mum would be mortified if her grass was bigger than mine. Mine's usually about 6 inches tall and her mum keeps theirs about 1/4 inch.
One of the bus drivers today must have been in a bad mood. As everyone got on and showed their tickets, he yelled right, right, right. We thought he was going to open the doors and throw each person off.The next driver was asked by a lady if she had to pay for her 5 year old and he said, "You did say she was 4, didn't you? You don't need to pay for 4 year olds." There are some good ones. On the last bus, I looked out the window. There was a girl on the cycle path. She had a huge bosom and a low cut t-shirt. The path must have been very bumpy. My eyes nearly popped out so don't know what the lads on bikes going towards her thought.
Christine0 -
Charlie is coming today, in a minute in fact, and as the sun is shining and it is warm I think we will sit in the garden like last time. she wasn't feeling too good yesterday but I don't mind as I know how she feels.
Dan hid away all day and made me stay with him. As I had a a headache I was able to sleep in the bed while he watched the Simpsons.
Have left some birthday cake, it is a bit rich so go easy.
Will pop back soon for a proper chat.

Afternoon Elizabeth, Christine, Toady, Barbara, Mig, Joan, everyone in fact. Lovely and sunny here too.
Toady, love it. poems don't have to be long, don't have to rhyme, as long as they strike a chord with the reader. Only sorry I couldn't make that sound like one.
MMMmmm, birthday cake, don't mind if I do Elizabeth. Does it have marzipan? I love marzipan.
Christine, had to laugh at your neighbour's little girl. Don't know what she'd say if she lived next to us - no grass, just chippings. As for the girl on the bike  I sometimes wonder what they think they look like.
The ginger biscuits were gluten free, and made from oats. Very crumbly, sort of a cross between gingers and Abbey biscuits. Remember them? I'd buy them again, although not many to a packet, so get one while they last. As you can see, food is very much on my agenda today because of the steroids. But as long as they do their stuff, I can live with it.
Hope all are having a good weekend."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Elizabeth, what a shame Dan hid away on his birthday. At least you got to sleep. Hope you've had a good day with Charlie in the sun. I'll have a tiny piece of birthday cake with a cuppa. Thank you.
Oh, gluten free ginger biscuits, Kath. Don't mind if I do. You don't get much of anything gluten free in a packet and it still costs 3 times as much.
Barbara, how annoying losing a long post. It's a pity we can't click backspace to bring it back. I do seem to get rather confused these days. Think I need a new brain.
It's been a beautiful day here today too. Watched the Great North Run this morning. This is the 5th year I haven't done it but the first I haven't cried because I couldn't. Still got it in my mind that I will again one year. :? But it's £50 now to enter. Spent the afternoon sitting in my son's garden . Little Ruby had a big garden bucket full of water to play with. She had a whale of a time getting soaked.Christine0 -
Morning all
Another lovely morning here
Been thinking of Toni and Lucy and hope they get home very soon...so many ups and downs for them...
Christine you just think of what you achieved doing the great North run..that is brilliant and many people would never even attempt it..it is hard not being able to do things I feel for you..think this way running is not a great exercise..its the pounding ..much better to power walk or up what you do.. sorry if I have made things worse...
Glad your dad is being looked after..and Ruby ..don't they just love water..I love the idea of a bucket...bless..glad you had a lovely day with them..
We had 2 GC here yesterday...eldest and her sister the middle one..so now its very quiet..I decided not to go to the art class at night school..its was on the night my OH trains so I am going to out library there is one starting there in the day next week I think :?
Right I will have a clean around and make a cuppa if anyone wants one..see you later xxxxLove
