Oh Barbara, your hair does look lovely. That's handy, only having to go next door. it'll be interesting to find out how you get on with your nutribullet. Terrible news about the dogs home. 60 dogs lost. Not sure if I heard right but I think they said on the news that they'd arrested a 14 year old boy. Hope you enjoyed your takeaway.

Toni, good to hear you and Lucy are back home. Hope you have a lovely week. Well, apart from the bloods.

Elizabeth, good to hear you've had an easy day. Hope you are rested.

Hope you and Sue have a lovely weekend, Joan. How is Peppa?

Hi Snowball. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

My brother phoned the hospital today and was told dad had had something to eat and the physio had him walking a little so some improvement. I'm going tomorrow afternoon so looking forward to a lie-in in the morning. Just realised my house insurance runs out at midnight tonight so caught them just in time to renew before they close for the day. Phew. What if the house was broken in to in the early hours?

Have been thinking of you all and all you are going through but I have been a bit sad an Aunt has died and it is her funeral today ,she would have been 94 tomorrow ,I haven't been able to see her in over a year as she had shingles that just wouldn't clear up,I was advised not to visit as being on humira it wouldn't be good for me.Tomorrow I will be visiting the church where my sister is buried ,we are going away for a few days it would have been her birthday while we are away so we have some yellow flowers to take ,she loved yellow flowers of any sort.
We are going to Kent on a coach trip ,I'm really looking forward to the trip as we are going to Canterbury Cathedral and I have never been there before.
Have a good weekend everyone,my thoughts are with Trishers family. Mig

    Good morning everyone :)

Mig - sorry to hear about your Aunt bless her at least she isn't in pain now. I love Kent and and certain the trip will do you the world of good :)

Christine I wonder whether you renewed with a certain company who might send you a wee Oleg? Lucy has one on the way c/o a friend :)

I hope your Dad continues to improve bless him

Snowball (Julie) it is lovely to see 'old' friends and so sad to read about Trisher. Makes you realise life is too short doesn't it. Her husband was devoted wasn't he?

Barbara I was so very upset to hear about the dogs home. It was supposed to have been a teenage lad! I hope it was not deliberate else I fear for his future!

I well-remember our café parties! Those were the days weren't they?

Joan I hope you are getting on well? have a lovely weekend yourself :)

Elizabeth I hope you are well? No harm in having an easy day. I overdid it yesterday and am paying for it today - silly me!

    Hope to see you soon.

    love to you all

Oh dear, some very sad posts here since I last came on. So sorry to hear of those who are no longer with us.

Didn't come on yesterday as we were busy doing the front garden. Honestly, I make it sound as though we have acres but our two gardens (back and front) are the typical pocket handkerchief size. But OH packs them both with pots, climbers, and perennials in the border, it takes an age to shift everything. What with his crumbling spine and my RA etc (and I think I have lumbago too :o ) we are a right pair of old dodderers. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm 63 and he's 67. :? Perhaps my memory is going.

Pred and Leflunomide still working, I only have minimal itching some nights, and very often no itching at all. I just wish the scabs would clear up. :x I'm hoping that when I go to see the rheumy nurse she will have some information regarding what other meds I can have. And also find out the result of the Vascilitis blood test.

Barbara, I must have missed the photo of your hair. Must go and search it out - nope, can't find one.

Snowball - Julie, pleased to meet you and thank you for the treacle sponge and custard. Talking of food. our T**co are selling T**rys chocolate orange for £1 each. I bought 2. Would have bought more but couldn't manage them on the bus. I love chocolate orange.

Toni, no I didn't use that company. It was the one with E-confidence. Found them to be the cheapest although a little Oleg might have persuaded me if I'd thought about it.

Joan, I heard a company has stepped in to rebuild the dogs home for free. The young lad will never be allowed to forget what he did.

Barbara, what's all this fruit and veg in the fridge? Is it your bullet stuff? Have you tried it yet? I found a poem on FB made to look as if it was from one of the survivors at the dogs home. Made me cry. No, didn't get my lie-in. My body clock alarm is set and I can't change it no matter how hard I try. That must have been a bit scary for you knowing your GD was out that late and on her own till she met her friend. Glad they caught the tube ok.

I like the sound of your garden Kath, although it sounds as if you have quite a bit of work to do. My gardens are never ending but that's how I like it although not sure how long I'll be able to keep going. Good to hear you have a lot less itching now. Sorry if I sent you looking for Barbara's hair. She didn't post a picture. I was just pretending I could see it.

Been to see dad. He could hardly move in bed, although he had been up earlier. They have said he'll be there for at least 2-3 weeks before they reassess him. Thanks for asking.

Sorry to hear your news Mig. It will be nice for you to get away.

Toni you prob don't have a chance to take it easy. Did you manage to see the CBB final? I didn't have time to follow the series apart from the occasional 10 mins here and there but saw the final result announced.

Well Christine I'm surprised your house insurance didn't auto renew. I'm usually trying to make sure they DON'T reinsure me! How was your Dad today? Were you able to help him with some food?

Kath glad your itching has calmed down. I managed to get my cream from the pharmacy but they only gave me one of my usual 5 meds; no sulfa, iron tabs, hydroxy or omneprezole. I'm going to have to ring the GP on Monday to find out why. I managed to buy some lovely plants, not sure what they are called, bright yellows and orange. I intend to plant them in one of the pots.

Barbara it is a worry GD arrived so late (£4.99 !! what a bargain!). It is sad about the dogs but so grateful that so much has been donated and raised to help with the surviving dogs to prevent anymore suffering.

Evening Joan. hope you are feeling well. The weather is turning so keep yourself warm.

I had the disabilities team round the other day and they did make a few noises about getting my Son into a respite place for a few hours with the aim of increasing it to (may be )overnight. At least they seemed interested in helping.

Lucy has been discharged from the hospital. I don't think there is any more they can do for her really so will just have to see how it goes.

I'm so tired and really thinking a nice lie-in tomorrow morning would be nice. So turn off your alarms please.

    Sssshhhh......
I am being quiet in the hope Elizabeth is still asleep :?
You are right I don't get much rest-time (like yourself), but we DID watch the BB final. You remembered that I am a fan
I do hope that the disabilities team can help and will help more over time. Here we used to have 'health' respite too, which has been stopped and the establishments sold so respite is less and less available.
I hope your Lucy gets more able to manage things as she gets older.

Christine - A wee Oleg would be wonderful wouldn't it? I love those creatures!!
I'm glad you saw your Dad yesterday and hope 'they' do a good job of helping him get as mobile as possible and as well as possible. The future can be sorted after that then.

KathT 63 and 67 is nothing! but with you both having health issues doing the garden must be hard work. Have you seen those planter bases with wheels? Maybe you can talk your husband into getting some of those so it is a bit easier to tidy away for the winter?
Chocolate oranges for a £1 eh? Now that sounds like a plan ;)

Hi Barbara :) How are you doing with your new super-duper juicer? I love ours and so does Lucy love the smoothies. Beware adding too much veg to start with as they don't taste great until you 'aquire' the taste!
Lucy's fav is blueberries, pear, apple red grape and cashew. She doesn't like banana so the cashew does the creaminiess and blueberries are excellent for helping with cancer I heard.
How old is eldest GD now Barbara? It is scary letting them go like that  My step-daughter goes to University today. Good job she's been away all week so I have had time to adjust to her being missing :(

    Hi Joan
We had a good day yesterday I hope you do today and did yesterday yourselves. I can feel it getting more Autumnal :( Mind you I can't wait until Peppa experiences snow for the first time!!

Right I must stop being so lazy!!

Toni thanks for the tips I did try it last night and put 50 percent spinach in the green color put me off... and was a bit strong ..I will try your recipe because I love bananas.. but my kidneys don't...I did grind down some almonds very impressed..yes its awful when they leave home..my eldest son did but the youngest didn't..he was an home bird and still is when they visit straight to the cupboards he goes..and now I worry about my GC ...

Hello Barbara, Christine, Toni, Toady, Joan, Elizabeth, sorry if I've missed anyone.

Barbara and Christine, glad you explained about the hair cut, I get confused very easily. Would like to see a photo though. :D

Toni I've often suggested planters on wheels, but OH is very set in his ways  and likes to look as though he's Superman even if he isn't.

(whispering) hope Elizabeth is having a good lie in today.

Just had to smile at the idea of Toni being lazy. Can't think of anyone LESS lazy. :D

Make the most of the decent weather, I read on facebook that another ex hurricane is on it's way from the US by next weekend.

Thank you for being so quiet. I had my lie in although I still feel tired.

I hate the windy weather because we have a couple of very tall trees next to the house but they survived last years storms (or was it this year)?

We have a juicer and I really don't like it. We also have a smaller mixer to make fruit shakes in. I throw the old bananas in there to mix with milk.

I think the respite will be instead of the current hours I receive. I cannot find a decent carer so its used only for a couple of things now, like the Wednesday after school club and holidays. So they have suggested they try to arrange places for him to attend with proper trained staff. I'm up for that. Trouble is there is a high demand but this the first time I've been offered the chance.

When Charlie came last week her face lit up when she saw a large box of pop tarts much to my surprise! She eats healthily and has a lovely figure so hope I don't ruin it. I passed on some of my old skinny clothes and shoes too as I'm never going to fit in them again! Glad they will be of use to her.

I am glad you managed to find time to watch CBB Toni. i like to sit with Lucy and watch things. We actually enjoyed watching Match of the day together last season :) .

Barbara my girls went through a late night in London stage. It used to terrify me! Glad she is safely home now though ad she will have had a fantastic time. I remember going all over the place late at night so I shouldn't worry.

I got some vouchers for Waitrose so going to do a stock up of all the things I like but Monday got to chase my meds and I'm sure there was something else!

Take care all, Joan keep safe and have a lovely Sunday.

Toni my eldest GD is 17 next week...since her and 2 friends went round the country fallowing a band she has got confident ..but not over confident she learned a lot ..especially the things that went wrong..like missing the coach
The baby has just been with mum and dad and her sister..she is still rearranging the ornaments.. I love her coming to sit on my knee while I put games on my phone for her :D
I have just looked at insurance again ..my son and his partner want us to go to Spain for a week...now they have offer surgery..its gone up..even more and 2 company's wont insure me  oh well will have to have a think..see you all tomorrow xxxxx

I get some free travel insurance with my bank Barbara. However it costs extra to add pre-existing health conditions so I just left it.

Is GD still there? Sorry thought she was safe home but that would have been a fast turnaround.

Toady has gone AWOL again! Hopefully she'd just catching up and not ill.

Sleep well all, I'm yawning despite my lie-in so hoping my Son will allow to go upstairs soon. Usually 9pm is the limit so less than an hour to go. Did I tell you I actually dozed off while sitting up at the table last week!!

Elizabeth, I'm glad the insurance doesn't auto-renew. It gives me the chance to phone round, although in reality I never get round to doing that. Glad you got your lie in. My body alarm rarely allows me to. I remember you telling us about the trees last time it was windy. Dad has his meals before visiting time so by the time I get there it's usually been removed. Although the other day, it looked as if it had been lying there for a while, not very appetizing by then. I hear quite often that people don't get all there meds at once and often have to go back later to get the rest. Lovely bright colours for you plant pots. Hope you get the help you need from the disabilities team and that Lucy feels better soon.

Toni, you mentioned those plant pot wheels. I think I need to invest in some. Just moved a couple so I could cut the grass. Starting to feel rather heavy now. Didn't think of putting cashews in a smoothie. Must try it.

Barbara, I think maybe I would find the spinach a bit strong. I do like carrots in a smoothie though. It is terrible the insurance going up like that. It's not our fault we need surgery or we are not 100% fit. Did your GD get home again ok?

Kath, I had to move some plant pots in the garden today. I bent right down to get hold of them and when I was putting them down. I was hoping none of the neighbours were watching as I thought I must look like a weigh lifter.

Got a message from my sister this afternoon. Apparently she had to take her GS to a party at teatime and my other sister's husband is working so they couldn't visit dad so would I get my son to take me. He was busy with work but took an hour out to take me. All 4 men in the room were out for the count when we got there so we went for a wander round the hospital for half an hour but the coffee shop and the little shops were shut. Dad was much more chatty and we even had a laugh when my son used the buttons to adjust the back of the bed.

Just watching Russell Howard interviewing a man who climbs skyscrapers without a harness. It showed him climbing and it sent a huge shiver through my whole body. :? Must get to bed now. Can't keep my eyes open. Hope everyone has a good night's sleep.

Thank you TK - I'm fine! :) - just the usual (tired & disorganised), but that's not new, so I'm my normal toady self or what passes for it. :D Eb*y was down this morning (that showed me where a good bit of my time goes, I really noticed not being to log in  though I am selling as well as buying honest), so I did sit in here & dawdle over a coffee and catch up. If I'm not around I'm 99% percent likely to be ok, as if I feel worse I will probably be in here whining about it  Sorry you are feeling tired too, hope you get a good night and catch up on yourself, seem to be having a busy time.. visits & so forth.. and if Lucy has been not so good lately (you said she wasn't 100% towards the end of Aug even though the meds are doing.. something.. must be enough to let the docs sign her off, I presume, anyway). Hope you will be in line for some of the respite opportunities you mention for your son.

The cranky old pc is also holding me up a bit getting online as sometimes I can't face prodding it into working, I put a bid in on a laptop last night but was pipped :( I was a probably a bit too stingy with my bid which I now regret.

More windy weather may be coming our way Kath? Oh lordy. Not too loud & fierce I hope, had enough of all that 'whoo-ooing' last time round. Hope all your many garden pots don't go over! Have just bought some fence paint so with my luck the fences will come down just after. It may be wise of me to put that job off. So glad you are still much less itchy! :D

Hello to snowball, lovely to meet you, it was very nice to come in and be offered treacle sponge! Especially as everyone is talking about healthy things like fruit & veg and juicers. I don't think a nutribu**et would be very impressed if I tried offering it what I have in that line at the moment, a couple of elderly apples & carrots, lettuce and some frozen peas, it would probably spit it back out at me in disgust :? online shopping time overdue for me, and I'm getting down to the un-fresh things. If Kath would like to toss a choc orange my way.. oh, doesn't that count.. pity.

Glad you got your haircut Barbara, and that your GD made her trip safe & sound. Mind the strong juicing concoctions  hope you come up with a blend you like.

Toni, you have been overdoing things too, tut - oh well no good me saying that, pot & kettle.. I have returned to clearing my back room, and found an old mouse nest I had no idea was there  Resourceful little mousie had got in behind a low shelf of books, obviously thought it looked like home sweet home, & set to chewing. Beautiful little nest it was too, I don't begrudge him the paper. Long gone (I hope) presume made a run for outdoors. Ok I'm making my house sound awful aren't I, but do you all go behind every shelf of books regularly.. these were ones I was waiting to sort out as prob unwanted too, so mr mouse has 'helped'. No idea why I didn't hear any scuffling though.

Who was waiting for new neighbours, was it Kath.. hope it works out.. mine have been away for a fortnight and even though they are v quiet it makes such a difference, after a while I find I'm sort of expanding if you know what I mean, just knowing no-one can hear you so much as sneeze or run the hoover or whatever. Shame it can't last.

Applerose, glad to hear your Dad had picked up a little even if it is ups & downs & seems set to be a stay of weeks rather than days. I will catch up with your news over tea at some point. Do love your anecdotes of busdrivers good & bad, unsuitably clad young girlies and neighbours goings-on, more please. :)

Well I'm going to put a supper kettle on, so see you all anon.

Mig I'm sorry to hear about your aunt, and to read the sad news about Trisher too, as I am in the cafe I will pay my respects with a quiet little sit.

Love to joan - and to marrianne and any absentees.. 'night everyone & sleep well xx.

applerose have just seen your update, glad your Dad has had another little upturn. :) Hope you get a good night's sleep.

Hello Elizabeth Toady Christine Mig Barbara and anyone else i missed.

Hi all.. time for a coffee & chat.. :) was up til the early hours chasing a spider round the bedroom :o one of my epic battles, trying not to lose it (downstairs is one thing, upstairs? 2 feet from where I'm sleeping? I don't think so!) All ended well & he went out the window & I got some kip. Had to have a cup of tea after that hope I didn't disturb anyone at gone 2.

Dull today & there must have been a bit of rain in the night. Reasonably warm though so will try & get a few things done. I wanted to list something on freecycle but the site had changed & my old login didn't work, so had to start over; as a new member I expected my posts to be moderated but it's been 10 days so far & nothing. Annoying, & a bit confused, as I thought freecycle turned into freegle at one point, now there seem to be both? :? Another laptop to maybe bid on this evening so I'll have to work out my max bid better. Hard isn't it barbara. Thing is if you are outbid by 50p or £1, you think well I would have gone up that much myself; but you have to set some sort of figure in your head. I always want to know the winning bidders max, then if it was well over mine, I would feel better. Tell you if I'm lucky. Sorry to hear the insurance co's want to sting you for cover  and I meant to say I hope you reach a decision about the best way to proceed, with your hip & appts, & what your plan is, not easy. :? Glad you have time to chew it all over properly.

Glad things went as well as can be mig and all the best for your trip. Well done to your daughter, ooh, messy!! I'm sure when you look in you will not find us up to anything.

Hello joan, thanks for the good wishes, it does not feel like a Monday to me today. Hope you have a good day. xx

Hello all, hope everyone is feeling pretty ok today.

Had my Leflunomide blood test this morning ready for next weeks rheumy nurse appointment. Also made flu jab appointment. October 15 at 2.15. Took the blood from veins in my hand again, as the one in the crook of my right arm is inaccessible due to the fact that my elbow is permanently bent. Can't use my left arm as I've had lymph nodes removed and am at risk of Lymphoedema, so I wear a silicon band saying "This arm, no blood pressure, no needles" Bit of a nuisance, but better safe than sorry.

Bought in a few Chocolate oranges for those who like them. I sat and scoffed a whole one yesterday :o just call me piglet

Mig, we had the music to Amazing Grace to walk out to at my mum's funeral. Her name was Grace, and my sister and dad wanted it. Although dad only wanted the music as he thinks the man who wrote it used the wrong words.  Right dad.

Toady, we watched Countryfile weather and no mention of said ex hurricane, so I don't know where the amateur Derbyshire weatherman got THAT idea from. Hope he's wrong. :?

Christine the weight lifter - my worry would be splitting my trousers when bending. :o

Someone was still waiting for meds to be delivered. I rang in a prescription on Thursday, they said it will be delivered today - bit optimistic I thought and guess what, it hasn't arrived.
