Yes Bubbles, it is wrong to use a badge if they are able to easily walk. I've heard of thalassotherapy. Wasn't sure what it is and don't know of anywhere round here that does it. Don't worry about the ironing. It's not going anywhere. More's the pity, eh.

Barbara, good for you writing the letter. I hope they do take notice and get something done about it. I've reported a few repeat offenders and have noticed they park on their drives not. Not sure if they have been told or it's just coincidence. I've seen people just out of the High Street parking on the pavement on double yellow lines. The parking officer said they think that if they park on the pavement, they think the yellow lines don't count. Then they get a shock when he puts a ticket on their cars for 2 offences. Your poor OH, not knowing he's going to decorate. I love going round the garden centres when they have it all ready for Xmas.

Joan, how are you and Sue doing? Hope you have a good weekend.

Kath, I've only bought a £4 box of Qu*l*ty Street. I'm hoping it'll do Halloween, a visit from 2 cousins and 2 aunties for a weekend, my daughter, her husband and the grandkids staying for at least a few days and Xmas for myself. Do you think I am expecting too much?

I'm pleased to announce I have a new -itis. (Well I'm not really pleased about it. ) Posterior blepharitis of the eyes. After my episode when the eye gel in my right eye shrunk back in June, I had blurred vision. The optician suggested I get my eyes retested after the hayfever season in case that's what was causing it. There was a new optician and she was really thorough and found the cause. Apparently, there are glands in the eyelids which produce oil to keep the tears on the eyeball but mine are clogged up. I need to put a warm damp cloth on my eyes each night and use eyedrops. She reckons I'll always have it. At least I know now.

No more work for a week and a half. :D Off to my daughter's on Monday for a week. I've booked the train to get me to the airport 2 and 1/2 hours early after the train was diverted last time and I was dumped in the town centre and had to find my own way to the airport so I only caught the plane because it was delayed nearly an hour. It'll be good to see them again but I'm a bit sad too. My daughter has been posting their belongings on a selling site as they are getting rid of everything but what they can carry in suitcases. My son-in-law still hasn't heard if he's got the job in Australia yet but they are going anyway. :(

    Good morning everyone :)

Gosh Christine! I am glad there's no work for you and a rest, but a bit sad that they're packing up like that :(

I would be terribly upset too.

Now that eye malarkey I have heard about before - there's a lady on the forum who has it. She has to do her eyes twice a day. Hers were pouring all the time. I think she got her new 'itis' at the hospital eye department

    Hi KathT

I am busy worrying about folic acid for my Lucy....they haven't given her any and she's on weekly MTX now for her leukaemia, but then again she's had it IV and at even higher levels in the past so maybe not :?

I have jaw issues too sometimes. the worst time I thought it was tooth? ear? pain all over one Christmas and new year,(luckily I had a dentist appointment on 7th Jan), because one day just after New Year, I was cleaning my teeth and it clicked and I had an agonising pain resulting in my gob being stuck SHUT for a few weeks  I also dribbled and my tongue sort of didn't work

Dentist suggested taking anti-inflams at bed time to ensure I was relaxed in my sleep - apparently we can grit our teeth in pain causing pressure on our jaws.

There's a lass used to post on here is going to have a jaw replacement...she's had it years though and tried gum shields etc

Joan I hope you and Sue and the dogs are well and have a good weekend. No rain here so I hope they can have their walkies ok :)

Bubbles I hope the Dr can help you with that thirst. I hope things like diabetes have been/will be ruled out?

I hope you enjoyed your tennis :)
    a030.gif
Shove some ironing over here - I'll give you a hand

Elizabeth I am so glad your techie neighbour fixed your PCs :)

Did I miss your Lucy's birthday? If so I hope she had a lovely one n035.gif

I agree with you - if they want something big it has to be a combined birthday and Christmas pressie. Teaches them to value their possessions.

No idea what to get my Lucy for hers this year. She should be having driving lessons, but can't :(

Hi Barbara I hope you are well?

I used to love Tia Chi, but I don't really go out much now. Lucy and I have a yoga video which we do a version of together! She is doing other exercises for her core strength. Wonder if I can get a video? I used to love Chi Balls...have you heard of them? It's like Tia Chi with squishy balls that you hold and do things with.....like the Ti Chi movements  That was a great explanation! NOT!!!!

I hope the council take some notice of your complaint about parking. If not could you contact the local paper?

Love to you all and anyone I missed

Hello Toni, Barbara, Joan, Christine, Bubbles and anyone else who pops in.

Toni, the folic acid is to reduce the side effects of Methotrexate when given as either tablets or subcutaneous injections. Not sure if it's needed for chemo infusions. I've actually bought some to take until things get sorted out. Maybe you should check with either oncologist or chemo nurses. :?

Christine, I wouldn't waste QS on family. I hog them all myself. My favourites are the toffee penny and the other toffee one. It's a wonder I have any teeth left. Sorry to hear about your new 'itis' sounds pretty awful :x

Oh dear Joan, losing important files, especially photos is such a shame. We learned our lesson in the same way. Now we've gone overboard and have several 'cloud drives' to back things up on, as well as countless pendrives and external hard drives. OH has a piece of software he uses to speed the job up.

Feeling quite pleased today, we had several mixed members of the tit family down on the bird feeder, as well as a blackbird and the ubiquitous starlings and wood pigeons. Lovely. :D

    Oh Joan :(

That's awful sad :( I would be upset too. The ones at Cris' I might have some too if it helps??

Photos are priceless. We should all learn by your lesson and copy them to our memory sticks.

KathT I asked Dr Tim about Lucy and he said haematology don't usually give folic acid. I just googled it and it said "Folic acid may counteract the anti-cancer effects of methotrexate" so that'll be why then.

All those birds using your feeder I am so pleased for you. A photo opportunity methinks??

    Love

Oh yes Toni, we don't take it on the day we take MTX for that reason, I forgot that. Sorry  Also, we take much lower doses - mine will be 20mls. I think the highest dose for us is 27mls.

Oh Toni, that jaw problem sounds horrendous. I don't talk very much but I do like to eat so would hate not to be able to open my mouth. A jaw replacement? Didn't know they could do that but I guess they can replace most things these days. My knees and elbows felt as if they were a bit twisted and my arms ached after just one session of Thai Chi. Hope it improves the more I do it. Not heard of Chi balls.

Joan, I love my photos and would be very upset indeed if I lost them. I hope someone can find a way to get them back for you.

Kath, I don't really want to eat all the QS myself. I'll only make myself sick. I keep my photos on several media but haven't backed them up for about a year. Must get round to it before mine disappear. Sounds lovely having all those birds in your garden. I must start putting food out again for mine.

Barbara, I thought I'd found a way for you to do the Thai Chi while I got the benefits. Might give the wipes a try on my eyes. I'm supposed to lie with a wet cloth on them but I'm always reading or on the laptop if I'm not busy so don't think about it till I'm in bed so the wipes might do it.

Hi Coco. Hope you are doing ok.

My daughter was at a car boot sale today trying to sell off their household belongings. She was selling things like the hoover and juicer etc for $5 and people were offering her $1 or $2. people want things for nothing these days. As most of you know, I've been having problems with my sisters for a while now. Got a shock today. They were being nice to me and talking to me. It put a bit of a damper on it when, this evening, my sister's partner put a post on FB thanking my other sister for sitting with dad while they went out for a few hours. Errrmm, helloooo, I was there too. Sat looking at a pile of ironing. Think it'll keep till tomorrow.

The 18 year old at work asked his dad to call in to the university as he was passing and pick up his washing so I've been washing and ironing it all for him this week so he can pick it up when he comes home for the weekend.

And, for those who remember him, my friend has another friend coming to stay till Xmas ............ Elfie. He will be keeping an eye on her little boy to make sure he's good for Santa.

Hi all :) have been keeping tabs on things on my phone as usual, just calling in for a proper visit.. thanks whoever last left the kettle on, expect it was barbara :D still quite tired at the mo, not sure if it is the meds or what, does seem a bit worse after mtx but not enough to make a pattern. Last bloods were ok so suppose it is just one of those things. Have been catching up on some jobs, fiddly ones.. getting new batteries for watches, measuring up cushion covers for the right 'inners', bit of sewing; stuff that gets left.

Sorry to hear joan has lost some treasured pics :( I'm not sure what could be done.. They were sent in emails but there are no copies on the computer I gather? It's possible to get things back if you have deleted them from your computer, sometimes, but I don't know why all someone's emails would disappear. It depends what sort of email account it is? I would not like to advise the wrong thing. If in doubt don't do anything else until you've had a chance to look into what might be the cause, is all I'd say at the moment. As Toni suggested, maybe the original recipients of the emails would still have their copies?

I am no better at backing up my things than anyone else, certainly nothing as sensible as Kath's system. I do have some copies but need to also weed a lot out. Sorry to hear about your crunchy jaw and ear, my neck makes graty & occasional bubbling noises  and my jaw doesn't open very far but that's all neck-related I presume. By the way I'm a sero-neg if it's any help for you to file away for the future.

Glad to see frog (seems to be) getting rid of the nasty throat bug. :) Having a croaky voice is taking the frog theme too far. You & Lucy have been propping each other up very gamely by the sounds of it & so glad you haven't passed 'it' on. :)

I have also cracked and put some heating on this week, actually it put itself on because of where the thermostat was set; I hadn't given it any thought. Really need a little heater for the spare bedroom as it gets so cold but can't see anything that wouldn't be a hazard in some way; it would need to be really teeny. Glad to hear bubbles' cats are getting the benefit of the living room fire  the second it gets cold the neighbour's cat tries to take up residence here, usually on my lap so I have to keep upright & moving sometimes just to save getting pinned down for hours. Hope the doc can help with your current symptoms.

Applerose are you able to use that spray-on-eyelid o*tre* or is that not the right sort of thing. Hope things go well with your visit to your daughter's. They are very intrepid to be selling up to the bare minimum on going on the move again. There is a lot to be said for trimming one's possessions down to the bone (says me the hoarder). Good luck doing a loaves & fishes with the QS :lol:

I checked back today at the seller I bought my laptop off & he has never had another like mine so I'm extra glad I got this one. Barbara I only went for fairly modest spec as I do only intend to use this for internet & it doesn't need much 'pulling power'. I have 1.2GHz processing speed, only 1gb ram and a smallish hard drive but the memory I could upgrade. I expect you'd want to go higher on those specs? I also went for a machine designed for the office/business market as they tend to have more focus put into function & sturdiness, & have Win7 Pro. Oh and office 2007, as I didn't want to have to add that in myself (nearly the price of the machine!) and a good battery. Lovely to be putting in some bulbs :) what a nice thought.

Glad TK's comps are sorted and hope Lucy's birthday was lovely :)

See you all soon and hope you have a good Sunday although forecast website says mist and a little warning triangle :? not promising. Time for tea & crumpets maybe. xx

    Elfie's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to post a photo when you can Christine :)

Gosh it feels like the entire year has been GONE for me....mind I bet we all feel like that really.

I can't believe that the lad at University sent his washing home!! Mine largely do their own!! Mind they're girls...with a meanie Mum

Hope your daughter made some money and got de-cluttered a bit even if people want something for nothing ;)

Hello to Coco. We are fine in our house I hope you are too :)

Barbara - enjoy your bulb planting - we have a fabulous day here to I hope it is with you too :) My throat is way better - hard to believe I feel so well so soon after feeling so bad! Mind it's the first 'anything' I have had for about 5 years apart from arthritis malarkey of course.

Hope all GDs are doing well including baby :)

Toady It's not so easy keeping tabs on phones, but good that we can at least :)

I think you ought to rest the day after your MTX as much as poss. It does 'catch up' with you. Lucy takes hers at night time so she's sleeping through it as much as poss.

Heating is on in this house too - most definitely. The thermostat sees to it not me ;) Daisycat loves our fire here. She's growing up and used to ignore it.

I am glad to hear your laptop has been so perfect for you. I couldn't be without mine :?

KathT I suppose we've sussed the folic acid issue then :( Hope you are doing ok today and also have some of this sunshine :)

    Hello there!

Birthday celebrations went well. Dan even allowed us to sing happy birthday while he was in the room, probably because it is tradition. Charlie came yesterday and we watched the gym together plus I made her dinner. I was relieved to hear she had a big bonus in her paypacket and has bought a new coat.

Barbara she has the desktop and it was all set up just in time for Thursdays birthday. It was very good timing!

Maybe Lucy will put the money for driving lessons away until she is able to start learning Toni? December 10th is her birthday isn't it?
Cris and I never take folic with mtx as it made us feel ill. Glad you know the reason now, would be pointless if it made things worse.

I hope your pictures are somewhere on your computer Joan and they can be retrieved. Sorry to read a greyhound once attacked your dog. Greyhounds are my favourite dogs and they are usually placid.

I'm just in time to wish Applerose a lovely holiday. It seems your Daughter is looking forward to Australia for a new start. I've heard car boot sales are notorious for people asking to pay tiny amounts. The washing made me laugh. He can't be very far away for his uni then?
As for parking; men in van's are the worst. Personally I think they know they are in the wrong but just don't care. Sometimes I wish I had their attitude and just blundered through life :o I mean who will make them move?At least one of them moved the bins for you.

Toady I had to buy windows 7 at £70 for Lucy's desktop and would like office but again another big price tag! Sorry to read you are fatigued. I'm on and off but Monday's are sleepy days for me after the weekend. I'm also suffering from a bad left leg and it really slows me down for the morning rush so I need to get up even earlier from now on.

I had a bad jaw when Daniel was born. We went out for a meal and I could barely eat. Full blown RA in the knees came a few weeks later so the jaw was a warning. However I had jaw probs after a car accident in 83 but it went away after a year or so. It is so painful....Kath I wonder why you had that cracking sound?

We have 2 squirrels in our garden and they love to chase each other around and up the trees, over the shed roof and rolling about in the grass. They are funny. The weather is still nice here and Saturday was beautiful.

Have to decide on Lucy's next choice of school by end of October. Its done online now so better not leave it to the last minute.

    Take care all speak soon

Toady, well done for catching up on your bits and pieces jobs. I feel better when I get those done. Just don't do them very often. Not sure if the Optr*x is the same or not. I'm going to make an appointment with my GP when I get home to ask about it.

Toni, I'll see if I can get a picture of Elfie. There is a pink elf going to my friend's niece's house to keep an eye on her too. I feel the year has past very quickly. Think I only dreamed we had a summer. Sounds as if my daughter got rid of quite a bit. Someone was supposed to come for the baby's cot but hasn't yet. Not sure where she's supposed to sleep for the next 2 weeks. I see you're multi-tasking cleaning the cafe. No wonder you need the coffee.

Elizabeth, I'm glad Dan had a good birthday and Charlie got a bonus. She must be doing well. Yes, my daughter is looking forward to Australia. Hopefully, my son-in-law will hear tomorrow that he got the job he applied for. My boss's son is about 60 miles away. His mum and dad went down the weekend before and took him out to dinner because he wasn't eating properly. I've only ever seen 1 squirrel at a time. It must have been good to watch 2 of them playing. Hope your leg feels better soon.

Barbara, my daughter did have to take some things home. A couple of people were supposed to be collecting things from the house this weekend but didn't turn up. Anything left will be going out with the rubbish. Glad you got your bulbs in. Don't think I'll manage this year. Mmmm, apple crumble and real custard. Yummy.

Well, I'm packed, all but the last minute things. Don't need to leave till 10.15 so not too bad. Must remember to check in to come home and print my boarding pass before I leave. Spent the afternoon at my son's. Ruby and I trashed her bedroom again. Oops! She kept making me sit on the chair while she made her teddies climb the steps of the little plastic slide she has in her room, and then made them slide down. I'll call in when I can but I think things might be rather busy at my daughter's.

Afternoon everyone, I expect you are all having the same weather, wet, windy and not very pleasant.

Joan, hope things are ok (if wet) where you are.

Barbara, good luck to your GD on getting an apprenticeship. One of my grandsons was going to uni but has now opted for apprenticeship too. Same result, but getting paid while training is much better than having to work and study and possibly getting into debt at the same time. :o

Christine, hope you have a safe journey and a good time. :D

Elizabeth, glad your party went well and that Dan allowed you to sing happy birthday. :)

Toni, hoping you are getting some well earned rest after the year you've had.

Toady, those fiddly jobs are always better out of the way, so you can concentrate on other things.

Oh I am so hungry, just off to raid the biscuit barrel and see if there's any cake left. Will eat whatever there is with a lovely, big mug of coffee.

I hope they find something suitable for your GD barbara. If she is not going to like 6th form there's no point forcing her. My boy is struggling with the work load and had a letter home already. He struggles with speech and language so I#ll have to impress on them that things need explaining very clearly. He is also a typical teen and doesn't like hard work.

Hi Kath I'm eating crab on toast here. Just tried to do find some missing M&S vouchers and not having much joy!

Blood test tomorrow, the one I missed other day. Luckily not a fasting one.

Christine have a safe journey. Any leftover furniture would be welcome by a charity I'm sure. We have one that comes with a van to collect the items and then they fix and tidy them up and donate them to anyone who needs them. Good luck with the work for son-in-law. Having a job to go to will be perfect.
I do worry about students and their lack of eating. You can't be feeding them every night and even if you stock up the fridge others are apt to help themselves!

Hope Toni is feeling better. I expect you have been running on adrenaline up until now. I find your maintenance list rather arduous but I expect you'll be in full swing soon.

Righto as I'm awake on a Monday for a change I'll see if I can sort a few things.
    Take care all

Hi all. Miserable day/evening out there! I decided to make a 'dash' to town for a prescription and couple of things and had about the only passable hour of the day so I was glad I did. Got a chance to check last lot of bloods which are fine. The tiredness, I always mention especially at hosp appts but they never make that much of it  everyone hates it being an invisible symptom don't they. When I started with ra I could've sat there in silence while the drs told me how ill I was; now my bloods etc are under control it's back me telling them, which is tougher to get over. Anyhow, I've made the decision to skip a mtx & see how I feel, as it's not long til my next appt; & if I want to put it to them as a theory [mtx = tiredness], I'll have something to back it up. Will see how I go.

Hope your bloods go ok tomorrow TK. Did you get on with some useful stuff today. :) Glad Thursday was a good day. £70 for windows is worse than I thought even. Should be a discount if you are upgrading from a previous version, even a bit would help. May have to get on to the charity furniture people myself as my attempts to get onto freecycle haven't worked out. I submitted a post ages ago & it's still in moderation. :? As it's for a kidney-shaped dressing table I wonder if the word 'kidney' is holding it up in case I am trying to freecycle one of my own. No-one would thank me for it, anyway. Any luck finding the vouchers?

Barbara's apple crumble & custard went down very well. :) I have ordered a mixed fruit crumble in my next shop, seeing as I now have the mini-oven, & pastries should be here this time for Kath. Should help fill a corner as they say once you've finished any cake. :D

Wish we had squirrels here, just v occasionally see one in the garden but not for years. Lovely to see a red one! Wouldn't it be nice if they could make a comeback after being so pushed out by the greys. :)

Hope applerose is getting on ok, and good wishes to joan and also mig, marrianne and anyone not currently posting. Sorry I missed coco yesterday, with the avatar being the same as bubbles' I sloppily read it as a post of hers. Belated hello.

Hot drinks definitely required so kettle it is, 'night, toady xx

Hello everyone, just had a quick browse at the posts.

mig, sorry to hear you've had a stinking cold. I wonder why they are called that when we can't smell anything while it's active? :? Hope it's gone or going now.

Yummy Toady, all offerings gratefully received. I feel a bit like a Harvest Festival recipient. Just don't give me a marrow, love 'em, but can't prepare them. It's what my mum always sent me to school with at this time of year, the bigger the better!!

Elizabeth, is that fresh crab or crab paste? Don't mind either. :D

Flu jab tomorrow afternoon. Of those who have had it, is this year's causing any problems? I usually just get a bit of a sore arm for a few days.

    Hi Kath, barbara, joan. :)

Kath I don't have the flu jab I just rely on being antisocial & avoiding everyone. I keep saying that with ebola in Europe I will up & move to a little Scottish island for the foreseeable  if it makes it up there, at least I'll be near the sea for a quick exit. Shouldn't joke but what else can you do. Good like with the jab.

Barbara I'm on anti-tnf as well as mtx, I credit that with helping as mtx alone did nothing. I'm not taking a big risk & chucking all my meds or anything silly. :) I do need the mtx too in combination (so they say), missing one won't hurt, it's just so I can see if it makes a difference. They won't let me stop it but I could argue a reduction maybe.. They tend to brush off the drugs causing the tiredness I find. The anti-tnf probably is as well for all I know. I have better bits in the past but for no cause I can pinpoint. Hope your GD gets on ok and as you say does not get sidelined into a nonstarter apprenticeship. All very difficult.

Sorry you've been off colour mig and that you have lost an uncle. :( My mum was an only so not many relatives of that generation. Pace yourself in the garden (ugh that word). Very dull here too practically need the lights on to see what you're at.

Good luck with your flu jab too joan. Did you manage to reaarange that cancelled physio appointment.

Must do 'something', while there's a smidge of light left. xx
