Who mentioned winter?! Shame on you.
Mind you the soup & crusty bread does sound nice. I've not that long had pan-fried quorn chicken-y chunks with spinach & tomato so soup will have to be reheated for later thanks.
I can't get going & doing anything much either applerose.. I hung the voiles I'm supposed to be hemming (for the kitchen) to check how they look up, I'm counting that as a 'job' but it's only a portion of a job really.
I bought some curtains yesterday with my voucher thanks TK, (it expired midnight) they were lined & good value but I'm expecting them to be a bit shortas I've mentioned, not one of my windows fit standard sizes, no idea what previous owners did unless they made their own. :? So it's buy 72" drop & hope they're a bit over, or buy 90" and have them trail the floor. So annoying not to be able to buy off the shelf! Hope when all your parcels of desktop come they are all there and all the right bits.
Nice to hear it is going to carry on warmish for a while joan. Have to go out next week and don't want to start thinking in terms of coats yet.
Hello frog, sorry you lost a post. Glad to hear things are going well at the moment.Exercise, ooh, you good souls. Hope you can join in the painting not too long ahead. Some of mine haven't been done in a very long time indeed so I am probably several coats behind you at least.
Yesterday was a tech-y day of frustration, had a palaver trying to get the laptop to install the printer, my pc joined in the fun with a firefox malfunction, and my camera is packing up so no eb*y selling for me til I replace it. :roll:Had it 3-4 years which is not what I call a long life.
Glad you are doing ok Kath even if having to try out combinations of clothes to get it right. Yay bedsocks. So hard to get the right layers. Can never understand why people that don't mind the cold expect you not to either. If I feel it more, then I'm as cold as you would feel if it was colder again - that's my argument anyway. Mind you tell me to put a jumper on & I will growl under my breath like a nasty-tempered terrier. 'See' you Monday. Not too early I hope.
PC trouble for you as well I see, must be going around, hope your connection beefs up.
Hope everyone is having a fair weekend so far. xx0 -
It turned out to be potato soup ,theres a big pot so it should last a couple of days.
I had a couple of yuckie days ,what ever it was seems to have settled in my right thumb joint and index finger which looks like a little fat sausage humira injection calmed it down so hopefully it will fade .Mig0 -
Barbara, although I woke up early, I did sleep well last night. I think I'll get some Epson salts and try them. Thanks for suggesting it. I think out grans had a lot of good ideas which we don't use these days.
Kath, hope your puter starts behaving itself. I seem to have a problem with Chrome. Pages from links are not opening and I get a message saying 'resolving host'. I updated Adobe Flash and rebooted my modem. It worked really well for an hour then went back to picking and choosing what to load. Four itchless nights. Fantastic. I think I'd rather have the spots and stripes myself than the itching.
No Toady. Hemming and hanging the voiles are 2 separate jobs in my eyes so you were right to cross off one job. That is annoying not being able to buy curtains the right length. I find that with nets but curtains seem ok. I see you are having problems too with your laptop. 3-4 years is no time at all for a camera. I'd expect it to last much longer.
Potato soup Mig. Yum. Hope your fingers are ok now after the humira.
Got back from the hospital and hour ago. Dad is desperate to get home. Not sure what to believe. He keeps telling me neither of my sisters have visited this week and he doesn't know why. Not sure if he's right or he's just forgotten. He seems to know he's going to rehab though although not happy about it. Early night tonight I think. On a Saturday? :shock:Christine0 -
Good Morning Everyone
Barbara I probably mentioned, but I got Lucy a cross trainer with my nectar points earlier in the year on the recommendation of the physio for core strength, but at the moment she lacks the strength to even get it startedMight be a lack of weight????
The sun is out here today so I hope you manage to get outside again. Any GDs today???
Christine well-done for getting the washing out! It felt too 'damp' here yesterday so mine went on the airer.
I hope a place in rehab comes up soon for your Dad - it will be good for him to get home ASAP. Even if he doesn't believe it! I wonder whether your sisters haven't visited or if he has forgotten :?
I have enjoyed the era of the Cilla programme most of all I think - and it is interesting to see what happened I agree.
Joan I hope you are all having a good weekend too. Lucy likes the treadmill. It's an old one we have of Paul's got paint on it, but it works and means we can work on Lucy's strength in privateI bet you really miss the treadmill. Do you still get to your swimming now?
KathT a fourth itch free night? fantastic!!! I am pleased. I hope your poor mouth gets better soon - sounds pretty uncomfortableShame you can't see more of the ryder cup if you enjoy it
Oh Toady!! Don't you just hate techie stuff ?! Shame about the camera...will your mobile take piccies??
I think our painting was reasonably up to date, but with two off at University it's time to smarten the place up a bit it's been well knocked about
Too right about those who don't min the cold!!! grrr!!!! brrrr!!!!
Mig potato soup!! Yes please. Lucy had the last of my tomato and basil yesterday.
I am glad your yukky days have settled and the humira helped; you poor thing
Right must get on!
Love

Afternoon all..we went car booting this morning although didn't do long so went for breakfast in a nearby cafe...not very good...
Mig what a lovely cake that looks so good.. hope there is some left..potato soup sounded good...I do love my soups but not brilliant at making them..and hope OH is feeling better soon...
Glad to see Kath has a 4th night itch free, but sorry the scabs are sore... good luck for tomorrow...
Toni yes I forgot you did mention the cross trainer bless.. Lucy will get there ..just needs to add some weight and hopefully that will come soon..especially with you feeding her all the goodies..no GC today..
Christine we use loads of epson salts...it is now proved to help the pain of OA.so hope it can help your feet...I remember my dad being like this saying no ones visits and the nurse would say you are the 4th today..or maybe your sister are using the fact that he forgets.. gload you had a good sleep..
Toady is busy hemming and such..I just use the wounder web on my curtains..I cant use my fingers for stitching anymore so its a godsendSorry it was me that mentioned winter...but what lovely weather...no sun here today but so warm...are you enjoying your laptop...I might just pick your brains over one...
Right off to make a cuppa and a piece of Migs cake...Love

Hello everyone, hope you are all feeling reasonably good today. I've just popped in for some of mig's delicious potato soup, it will stand me in good stead for the long bus journey tomorrow. Bus leaves at 6.35am, have to catch one that early as we have to travel through a nearby town which is always gridlocked because of tram works. Mig will know where I mean I'm sure. I actually live in Derbyshire but both my hospitals are in Nottingham. And it looks as though it's going to be a wet start.
Number 5 itch free night - and I wore flannelette pyjamas, as well as bed socks, and kept the duvet over my legs all night - brilliant. Won't mention the 'W' word but I am ready for it now.
Problems getting on line again. It's not my 'puter, or the router, it's flippin' Ta*kTa*k. :x Half an hour's wait this afternoon!!!!!!!!
Barbara, sorry to hear your car booting wasn't successful. Shame about the cafe not being very good either.
Mig, that cake does look tasty (she said hopefully) I'm with you on the TV sport, at least Europe have won the cup back again.Sorry about hubby getting man flu  Our jabs are on 15th October.
Toni, my mouth is sore because I haven't been using the spacer with my inhalers. Started using it again, and it is beginning to improve after using oral gel too.
Well, that' it from me for a few days. But as Arnie said: "I'll be back"take care of one another. xx

Toni, I've only tried a cross trainer once and it felt as if it took quite a bit of effort to get going. Lucy will probably manage it once she's gained a bit more strength. I've been in the middle of painting my bedroom for months. Can't get motivated to do any more.
Oh Mig, has your OH taken to his bed, like they do? Your cake looks delicious.
Barbara, it's been years since I went to a car boot sale. I used to go often. Even better if the epson salts help with OA. That seems to be my main problem with my feet. Just put it on my shopping list. Isn't Wundaweb a good invention. I use it to take up trousers as they're always too long.
Kath, that is an early start. Not sure I could make it. Hope the rain stays off for you. Glad your mouth is starting to feel better.
Was just sitting down for lunch today when I got a text from my sister saying they were going to the hospital instead of me this afternoon. She wanted to ask when dad was being moved. Wish she had told me sooner so I could have organised to spend the time my GC. She didn't get anywhere with them and has to phone tomorrow. It was very warm here so I went for a walk. Didn't get too far as I was feeling a bit dizzy. Probably lack of sleep. I did get to see the ducks, swans, geese and seagulls down at the river which was nice. Felt a bit chilly so I put the heating on. Now I'm way too hot.Christine0 -
Hello everyone - just admiring mig's lovely cake! You are clever.. that looks so nice. I almost want to go and bake something now.. maybe one day..
Sorry about oh & hope it cuts short.
Not much sewing gets done round here barbara & applerose, if something's likely to need altering I just don't buy it but once in a blue moon I use my gran's Singer to sew a straight line along something.I never did sew anyway 'before'. I do miss my brilliant close sight though which I still expect to come back.
Mind you I also need some decent lighting (lamps in the right places etc) & don't know why I just don't get on & sort it.
So you didn't buy anything at the boot sale barbara.. used to have good ones at the schools round here but they have dropped well off in recent times, pity as one was very near. Shame your breakfast wasn't all that.. don't suppose you'll go there again.. yes feel free to compare any laptop info, not that I know masses when it comes to that, but do ask.. happy with how mine is behaving, touch wood
A few of us having comp or connection problems then.. I must be lucky with my connection I never seem to have much trouble. A part of me half enjoys wrestling with computing issues as such, well I must do as there is usually another way round things, I just get the bit between my teeth & won't give in, so don't feel too sorry for me frog.Camera is a nuisance though, no my phone one isn't good enough for e*ay, I didn't buy one with a decent camera (intentionally). Are they still your own tomatoes in the soup?
Sorry you felt a bit off when you were out walking applerose & hope you catch up on your sleep, was it just one off night as you had just had a reasonable one.. or does it vary with you.. hope tomorrow's a better day. Also that things get sorted for your Dad so you know what's what. Haven't had the heating on yet - it'll be water rates, gas, phone bill & council tax for me in a lump end of month, so probably just as well!
Will be waiting for 'the return of Kath' and hope all goes well. I watch practically no sport whatsoever so if anyone wants my share they can have it. Though I do watch A Question of Sport.
Hope joan is ok, and anyone else not in today, wishing all a good start to the week. xx0 -
It was a cake mix all I had to do was add butter and water tastes rather good though.
Hope things go well Kath.
It awful when things break or there's no internet ,don't we all rely on technology theses days.
He's sniffing and coughing and looking very sorry for himself even more so because I make him spray his hands all the time don't want his germs.Mig0 -
Morning all
Happy birthday to our Mig..have posted on your birthday thread has well..hope you can have a good day with hubby being poorly..thanks for the cake info
Toady thankyou for offering to help with the comp I will make a list...how lovely you have your nans sewing machine..
is it electric or the old peddle one..sorry not sure how old or young you are.. :? such a shame they got rid of the car boot ..there used to be one down the rd from us..but that went.
Kath hope all goes well today and maybe when you are ready can pop in and let us nohow you are doing..good luck...
Christine..feeling dizzy can be scary..it might be the stress of your dad..hope you feel ok today..what a blinking shame your sister didn't say earlier..time is pressure's especially when you are working..glad you got to walk by the river ..how lovely we have to go a couple of miles to find water..canal not a river..hope the ES help your feet..
OH is working today so I will get organized ...
See you all later..xxxxLove

Well, I wasn't expecting to be able to post today - but here I am, the proverbial bad penny.
I've even had a short nap as we were both shattered when we got back. :?
Infusion started at 9.30, 1 gram steroid took one hour, then a half hour saline drip. All done and dusted by 11am. I even got two coffees and a small pack of ginger biscuits. Can't be bad. I'm buzzing, and feel a bit hot and not expecting to sleep well tonight, but still another early start tomorrow. I'm not taking the steroid tablets over the next few days but have to start on them again on Friday at the lowered dose of 30mg. They left the cannula in for tomorrow, but then it will come out and a new one in on Thursday.
Joan, hope Peppa is doing well now his stitches have been taken out.
Mig, Happy Birthday - nearly missed that.
Toady, if you need someone to be your taste tester, can it be me? I'm craving carbs because of the steroids according to the nurse, so cake, biscuits, home made bread with maybe a packet of crisps or three thrown in.Look out for the fat lady over here.
Christine, it was still very dark when we set off. Glad OH was with me. :?
Will pop in again tomorrow if I can, depends on how high up the walls I've climbed."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Theres a big box of chocolates help yourselves.0 -
Hello all.. and Kath..
thanks for calling in.. well done on infusion #1.. hope you do manage to get some sleep tonight, steroids never really made me rev up, shame I might have got something done for once.
I'm not sure home-made cake will be on the menu anytime soon but I was going to get some jus-*** pastries last shop that were new & looked nice.. then t**co chucked them out of my online basket (they're always doing that to me :? ) ..next time though. Apple or cinnamon I think. You'll be first in line. Good luck for tomorrow. I'll save you my story about the skinhead, the bus trip and the bunch of flowers.
Mig that still looks like no cake I've ever made from a mix & I'm still impressed. Hope you are having a good day despite germs and glad someone is cooking for you for a change. Enjoy disrupting your son's orderly house.Thank you for the chocs.
Barbara it is a hand sewing machine (there were quite big gaps between the 2 generations above me so have got quite a few family things that date back a way) but I don't have the table & treadle anymore which is a shame, think it went in one of my parents' house moves. Still nice in its wooden case though.
Hello joan and sueglad Peppa has had his stitches out, I have looked at the pic and he looks bright & perky so he is obviously doing well. (There is one very tiny hiccup with your link to the pic; that 'P' that has sneaked in at the beginning needs to be taken out so that it just starts with 'http'. Then it works fine.
) I am alright today thank you, have to have my mtx injection later, but it is nice and warm so I'm getting on ok. I am going to have a teabreak then open my new curtains which arrived in the post.
Will leave the kettle on for TK if she calls in and anyone passing, love to all xx0 -
Must admit Toady, I don't buy anything that needs to be altered, apart from trousers which I use wundaweb for, as I know I won't do it. I did used to make some of my clothes many years ago. I remember my mum darning socks when they got a hole in them. Can you imagine that now?
I never know what sort of night I'll have. It seems to be between 2 and 5 bad nights and 1 or 2 good nights. :? I pay all my bills monthly by direct debit so thankfully no surprises.
Mig, I don't blame you making OH spray his hands. I carry one with me and often use it while I'm out. Happy birthday. Hope you have had a lovely day. Enjoy Alfie Boe and your meal and your visit to your son's.
Barbara, I think the dizziness is probably due to lack of sleep which is probably because of stress. I remember seeing my GP last year and he thought the same.
Joan I hope Peppa is ok now he has had his stitches out.
Hello Sue. I can't get your link to work but will keep trying. Would love to see your puppy. Just read what Toady said and I've managed to see the picture. He looks very sweet.
Kath, bet you're glad that is over. Hope tomorrow goes well too.
Got a text off my sister saying she is taking dad home tomorrow. At last. Didn't seem to be much to do at work today. Just hope I can find enough for the rest of the week. :? Booked my flights to go and visit my daughter in 2 weeks. They are expecting her husband to be offered a job in Australia and my daughter is to have a 2nd interview for a job in Singapore and someone has recommended her for a job in Abu Dhabi. I can see them ending up in different countries.Christine0 -
First in, so I am rustling up some coffee and having a sit.
Still a warm day, yesterday was nice up to late when it went darker & darker & ominous. Checked the forecast which was fine & sunny no rain, in the next minute it lashed down with a real cloudburst. :?
I don't have any direct debits applerose as a) I don't like being strongarmed into having them by companies and b) I wouldn't trust myself not to go overdrawn and that would be a very nasty surprise. Hope your daughter & husband get their job prospects lined up on the same continent! Nice to have worldwide interest in your talents.
Hope everyone is doing ok and calls in at some point.. I may get another coat of paint on my bit of wall as it's an alcove (well recessed bit) and I'm hoping to get some flatpack shelving unit things put up in there, so the paint needs to be done before that. That will probably be as far as I get while I wander off onto another half-started job like usual.Darning, I remember it but no I can't see anyone spending their time on it now when a new pair of socks is not going to bankrupt anyone. Hand-knitting seems such a lot of effort now too compared to bought garments but people do still very much go in for it apparently.
Right, coffee & biscuits & then off to eye up the paint roller. xx0 -
Afternoon all
Toady had been busy painting or not..sounds to much like me lots of job I start one then go to another..but none get finished ..life is to short..thats my thinking anyhow..I wish I had kept my Grandmas sewing machine it had the treadle for your feet..good exercise
...
Christine what a palaver your daughter and her husband being offered jobs in different country's.. hope they can sort it out my sons friend has just gone to live in Abu Dhabi..think I would be inclined to pick Australia ..saying that my sons friend has just gone to worked in Abu Dhabi around 4 weeks ago and so far he loves it and so does his wife...very good wages...
hope your dad got home safe and sound...
Joan and Sue glad to hear that peppa is doing ok will go and have another look ay the pic now I know how to work it thanks to Toady
Kath it was good of you to come in the cafe..and so glad to see the treatment went ok and you got home reasonable..will have everything crossed that it helps you ...
Mig you enjoy your time at your sons..I am sure he will know how to put things right if you undo them..I love to listen to Alfie Boe..what a lovely present
The weather here is glorious so we had a trip out this morning..just a little walk down the canal...its exercise and fresh air..I used to walk for miles ..before these hips and back..but really enjoyed it
Hope that Lucy is still eating ..and hopefully things are going to plan..
Will see you all later..Love

Hello Mig, barbara, toady, Christine, and anyone I've missed.
You'll be glad to hear I had quite a good night's sleep last night - quite unexpectedly. So off we went for today's hospital adventures. As I had the cannula left in from yesterday, I was connected up in double quick time at 8.40am. Change over from steroid to saline flush at 9.50 am. Only 20 mins today. So was finished by 10.10 and away home. Cannula removed as we have tomorrow off from hospital, so a new on in for the final one on Thursday. Feeling much better after today's, no sweating, no metallic taste, feeling calm, so hopefully should sleep wellr tonight.
Mig, lovely cake (she spluttered with crumbs flying everywhere) sorry Toni, I've made another mess, but mig can share the blame, she shouldn't keep making such gorgeous cakes to tempt me.
Christine, glad your dad is going home at last. Let's hope things stay on an even keel now.
Toady, I love pastries, savoury or sweet, so anything you produce will be welcome and devoured with great pleasure. Can't wait to hear the skinhead story.
Barbara, my mum used to have a treadle machine - well actually it was gran's, but mum used it all the time as she made all my clothes when I was little. I used to sit pedaling the treadle for ages when it wasn't in use. I doubt if children today would know what to do with one, for work or play. Same with saucepans, washing ponches (remember those?) even granddad's fishing nets, I made games with all of those."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Toady the weather forecaster here said that yesterday would be warmish with sunny spells. The map behind her showed there would be heavy showers. :? it was warmish but overcast all day. Maybe I should do your painting and put your shelves up and you can come and do my painting. That way, we might get it all finished.
Barbara, so you don't get jobs done. Maybe you, me and Toady should all swap jobs. My daughter was saying that they wanted to work in Singapore for a while to earn some money before they went to Australia but, if her husband gets the job, they'll go there. They can't miss the opportunity in case it doesn't come again. Dad got home this afternoon but was so tired, he was in bed by 7pm. He'll be much happier now. Glad you enjoyed your walk.
Kath, glad you had a good night's sleep. Sounds as if today went well. Hope Thursday goes as well.
I went to T*sc* today for some shopping. Got to the checkout and was asked how many of my own bags I was going to use. I told her I didn't know till I started packing. She needed to know before she could put my shopping through :? so I said 3. Anyway, I emptied my trolley and when I went to pack, she had already put most of my shopping in to fresh bags. That meant I had 5 bags so I emptied one in to my own. I had bought one of those Chinese meals for 2 in a box with a handle. She put that in a separate bag. I took that out, opened the box and took the out the boxes inside and put them in my own bag and left the packaging behind. Having small boxes inside a big box inside a carrier bag only made it too difficult to carry.
On the bus on the way home, there was a lady at least 60 sat at the front. There were 3 seats sideways on. She sat on one with her feet up across the other 2 making herself right at home.Christine0 -
Afternoon all
Very quiet in here ..
It was lovely earlier now its raining...
Kath good to see you again and glad it didnt take long..the cannula does help.so ghlad that it is helping you ..having a good sleep can make things seem much better hope tomorrow goes ok for you..
Christine..what a good idea swop jobs...mind you not sure which one I would do.. :? I feel really lazy ..sometimes I wounder do I use arthritis as an excuse..
Glad your dad got home..no wounder he is tired..bet his own bed felt good..I hope your daughters husband gets the job in Australia much better for them but ..I know you will be sad... I would love to get away from this country...and I used to love it..good for you with the bags its drives me mad when they ask...honestly all the packaging should be done away with.. the lady in her 60s talk about teenagers...I don't put my feet on seats
Right I will put the kettle on and hope someone comes in...there are chocky biscuits...
Love

Sorry haven't read back but I really need to do some hoovering and general tidying up. The cobwebs are everywhere but I'm too short too reach the ceiling with my ostrich father duster (a freebie with a purchase I made). Don't think anyone else will be keen.
Anyway had a school meeting and Son no.2 is doing well and seems much happier this new school year. His new teacher seems lovely and approachable and this makes a difference.
BP has gone down at last! Chemist gave me an emergency supply of BP pills too as I'd run out so all in all a good day
Hopefully I'll get this dusting done. No need to do the cafe as it is always spotless.

Joan z cars used to make me cry! I remember one episode where an old man got knocked down and broke his glasses. I never watched it again after that!
Toni Sheridan Smith is great as Cilla. I remember my Mum used to play her records when I as a toddler. The song Alfie also used to upset me so I never liked listening to that song. But I love the way they used a phone box to call each other. Takes me back! I wonder what teenagers watching made of that!
Funny weather here too. Was told it would be lovely but it was overcast all day.
