Yay I have tv sound  as I suspected it was the remote at fault but in any case I found that a new box all in was practically the same price as just a remote, and at least I have a way of testing any future faults. I don't mind the subtitles TK  but they aren't on every program and have also been coming & going, so it was time to give up.

Glad that Lucy got into music club :D things work out like that sometimes don't they. Good luck with the ironing. I am off to sort some clothes in a minute and will have to try and be strict. :? Hope the boys' shoes turn out ok.

Ah I was fooled by the furniture barbara :) it looks very convincing. Not so good if the tramps are filching the cushions, you can't blame them, but can't afford to keep replacing them of course.. 'Enjoy' your cleaning :? and hurry back for some afternoon tea.

Very good luck to Kath with the bloods and the injection tomorrow. And with seeing rheumy on Monday, hope it goes well. Glad you didn't have any wind damage, it is much calmer today, hung some washing out but I doubt it is doing a lot out there with no sun.

Have been trying to play the firefox games they are letting you play previews of but they won't run on my machine :( double-checked all the requirements and it seems my processor isn't 'fast enough', shame. :( Will save me wasting some time I suppose.

Hope all reading are well & warm. xx

Just had a quick read through but can't remember everything. I did see Barbara's pictures. It looks very nice there.

There seems to be a lot going on here at the moment. The day I went to Dublin, I got a text from my sister just as I was getting on the plane, saying she had decided she could no longer care for my dad and was setting things in motion for him to be moved to a care home. Visited him today and he doesn't want to go but said he'll try it as long as he doesn't have to give up his house.
The day I was coming home, my daughter had to go in to hospital for an operation for endimetriosis. She's fine now. She and her family are coming to mine on Friday for a few days then flying off to Australia. Her husband got the job he applied for.
My cousins and aunties are coming for the weekend.
I got a message from my GP's surgery saying I have to make an appointment. Apparently, the rheumie has sent a letter saying he wants me to try a new med. Haven't seen him for over a year so no idea what that's about.
My new glasses weren't made up because the company making them said the optician had sent the wrong frames. Don't know how as I choose the ones I wanted so I have to wait a few more days for those.

I need a holiday. Hope you are all well.

I see Toady has sound again :D nothing more frustrating them the remote playing up..we payed £10 many years ago for a new remote so you did the right thing there....the furniture was convincing I thought the same when I saw it
Kath good luck with the MTX I do hope it works on the itching, must say the cream sounds good..I hope all goes well with the rheumy..and you can get the preds lowered...
Elizabeth hope you enjoyed the fish and chips..and the respite ...you must look forward to that.. :) and I hope the shoes fit your sons..my eldest GD has a high instep and wide feet so she finds it hard to find decent shoes
Christine..what a time you had.. it will be all go then for a while ..glad to see your son in law got the job in Australia.. :D I know you will miss them but its better than Malaysia.. :) its very hard when you have to mention going into an home to your parents we didn't get that far with my dad ..I* hope your dad likes it and enjoys the company, you can understand him wanting to keep his home ..bless good luck with the rheumy and the glasses..
On my own today..so wounder what I will get up to.. :) I know what I would like to do clear the drawers of rubbish so might just grab a bin bag or two...will see you later xxxx

Hello mig, barbara, toady, christine, hope you are all feeling not too bad.

MMM mig, love shepherds pie, not much food I don't like actually. I hope your colds finally give up and leave you alone. :(

Toady, glad you have sound again. It is annoying when you can't hear properly. I'm still struggling with my hearing so will bring it up with rheumy nurse on Monday. I think it might have something to do with the vasculitis. :?

Christine, that's a bit of a mystery - maybe rheumy wants you to take part in a trial. There quite a few going on at the moment - so I hear.

Well the injections are here - almost 2 hours late. It had me worried and I rang the hospital, then Alcura, then the hospital again. Both are supposed to be ringing me back, but haven't heard from them yet. Don't care now though as they have arrived. So number 1 tonight, at last.

If there are any of toady's pastries left I'll have some more. We had baked potato with cauliflower cheese and fresh tomato. Delicious, but I always find that vegetarian food doesn't last long hungerwise. Whoops, almost forgot, we also had one sausage (non vegetarian).

Barbara, I'm relieved about my son-in-law's job. I was a bit worried about them going to Malaysia. Did you get your drawers sorted out? You can do mine next.

Mig, hope you get over your cold soon. I'm just getting over one but it hasn't been too bad.

Kath, glad your injections have arrived at last. Mmmmm, cauliflower cheese and tomato sounds yummy.

Hope everyone else is doing alright.

Dad was transferred to the care home today. He's not happy about it and thinks he'll be home soon. My daughter and her husband and the kids are going to his family first this weekend so not sure when they'll be here. Means I can see my cousins and aunties all weekend now.

Hi to everyone, I will have a read back, but just wanted to say that I am still around.
The past weeks seem to have been a blur, last week I was at the Drs surgery every day of the week !! Went in for my annual check, bloods etc. Urine showed lots of glucose and BM was nearly 20mmol. So, bloods went off and I went back to see Sister, confirmed that I am now diabetic, unable to control it with diet alone. Oh the joys of life eh. I had an inkling there was something amiss, but, matron thought it was side effects of all 50 pills a day. Wrong.
Anyways, I am sticking my fingers umpteen times a day, started on metformin, just a low dose, going back for a review today (Friday). My blood sugar has come down and my, well, our diet has changed completely. Maltesers, a thing of the past, biscuits, cakes..................I have been so so good I am proud of myself and I have already lost some weight.
That's where I have been, along with everything else...........I will hunt round for some peanuts, I can eat them - hoorah. Actually, I can eat cake in here, no worries. Leaving hugs to one and all. Will try and get on more, famous last words. Take lots of care XX Bubbles.

Thank you Barbara, I will take a couple of slices if I may. It is just what I didn't need, I quite agree, but, we are sent these challenges in life and it has to be onward and upward, says me taking tramadol like sweets for back and hip pain. At least I am nearly at the floating stage, so if anyone needs their ceilings painted, I can do that

Hope all goes well for Dad, Christine, I know how hard it is, with mumnot long being taken into care with dementia. If I sat and thought about it I would just be in floods, but I keep it light and know that it is the right thing.

Well, one of the cats is giving me evils from the kitchen, wanting yet more food, so, best be off and feed him and feed us, low carbs of course. Take lots of care xx Bubbles

Hello everyone, it's been cloudy most of the day, but the sun did peep through now and then.

Bubbles, so sorry to hear about the diabetes. don't know how 50 tablets a day can cause it though. :? I hope they can get it under control soon. xx

Christine, hope your dad will cope with the home. It must be hard to adjust to these things. :(

Barbara, injection went ok, no adverse effects and slept quite well. I have a friend who sends me distant Reiki - don't actually know what she does, but she lets me know what time she's sending it. It seems to work, but it could just be psychological of course.

Meat pie, chips and shallotts today. I've developed a taste for them. Just call me The Lady Of Shallott.

Applerose they got that care home sorted quickly, surely they must have got the ball rolling ages ago to get a place so quick. I wouldn't put it past your Sister to text you on your holiday break on purpose to unsettle you. How do you feel about him going into a home?I wonder what new med they want to try you on? I hope you enjoy that time with your Daughter and congrats to Son-in-law on getting the job. It all fell into place in the end.Did you sort out your double booking, Daughter, and cousins all coming to stay at yours at the same time.

Did you take the mtx after all Kath?

That stupid loud music is playing! I've got one hour before my boy6 arrives home for them to at least turn it down. This is the house behind us. Our immediate Neighbours have been given notice to quit as the owner wants to sell so now have to worry about who will move in! I feel sorrry for them as they have 4 children all settled in local schools and one is doing his GCSE's. It can't be easy for the children.

Lucy is on training day today so she came to W**Tr*SE with me. Stocking up for half term.

Sorry about the diabetes confirmation Bubbles. I've had a test but not yet heard back. It is a shame it cannot be controlled by diet.

Hope Toady is loving the new remote.

Thanks Barbara I do look forward to my Wednesdays now. I used to feel guilty incase he wasn't happy but now I hear he gets lots of cuddles from the carers although he's got his coat on and ready to go when OH collects him..enjoy your time alone.

Right I have a long half term ahead...bracing myself. Lie-ins are the consolation.

Just spotted you Joan. Hope the physio helps. Have a nice weekend.
    Take care

    Morning everyone

What a busy week you've all had!!

Bubbles is now diabetic and you think it's your own fault eh? Well maybe partly, my stepdaughter's Granddad ended up on insulin and was able to come off it at one point due to diet so there is hope.....mind he's back on it now - he just can't resist
Well-done for cutting back and the weight loss is excellent :)

Barbara that B&B looks lovely :) Really perfectly positioned :) My husband doesn't like to be in piccies either  I am so glad you had a great break.

Well-done for your drawer cleaning out escapades. Sounds like a job and a half so well-done for tackling it.

Big kids are home from their studies so my house is noisier :)

Joan - I hope physio went ok? and am very glad you got Sue's purse out of that pocket. If the coat is a really good one maybe you could find someone to change the zip??

Christine - I have to agree with Elizabeth. That care was sorted very speedily. Question is had they started looking before they told you? You need to suss it out for yourself and make sure it's up to standard I think.
I am so relieved to hear that your SIL did get the job - phew!! and all is well with them.
I wonder what the Rheumy is suggesting too???? Maybe it's vitamin D they seem to be handing out these days???

Elizabeth. I am sorry you had a rough spell, but you certainly sound to be back on form now ;) Great news Lucy is back in guitar club :) I bet she enjoyed your half-term shop ;)
Yes Lie-ins are the only compensation for school-hols. I am so pleased your son enjoys his Wednesdays...fair enough he's ready for OH to pick him up, but at least he is happy and you are guilt-free too :)
Lucy was plenty warm enough going to the football - the wig keeps her really hot!!! I think a local team is definitely enough for now, bless her. It's that football club we will be holding our fundraiser too :)

KathT I am pleased your MTX has arrived and has been used fingers crossed it helps :) I cooked with shallots too this week. I love the slightly different taste from onions and the colour too - blimey I think I've lost it

'Distant reiki' eh? I would be up for trying that. Long may it help you!

Toady I am so glad your telly is working again :) I don't have mine on much, but I would really miss it :?
Maybe its a good thing that your' system' isn't up to playing games  It's easy enough to waste loads of time on these things isn't it anyway?

Mig Tis good you are finally over your cold followed by a cold :( Well-done for your gardening - ours still needs a clear-up, hope the hands/wrists ease very soon :)

    love to you all

Toady I hope you are going ok..and you are allowed to be behind... :)
bubbles sorry I missed you , glad you had some cake ..and yes you are right we get these things thrown at us and have to handle it..
Toni lovely to see you has always..yes I would highly recommend the B&B and the people that run it are so lovely.. :D well worth a visit I think it is either num 2 or 1 on tripadvi**rI hope Lucy has enjoyed her freedom ..and you have been getting some well earned rest...my house is getting to quiet not the girls are all grown up..so glad to see them though, when they do turn up..
Elizabeth glad you make the most of the respite you have nothing to feel guilty about but that is what mums do..I love the thought of him looking forward to going with his coat on how lovely :D
Kath glad to see the injections went well and no side effects...the Reiki sounds good even though it is by thoughts alone...and I am another that loves shallots they are so sweet..
Joan I hope the physio went well and more to the point it is helping you
The baby has just gone home with mum and dad..she isn't well and they go to Spain on Wednesday.. I remember well worrying about this when the kids were young..
More baking for me my eldest son has given me a food mixer..blimey how easy it is with one of these..I cant beat the same with my hand and shoulder so this is so helpful ..trouble is the weight we will put on..so lemon drizzle, sticky toffee pud and short bread biscuits..I wen t a bit mad

How lovely to see you've all popped in at some point.

I have a feeling that the house behind is going to have a party tonight so I'm praying for rain but not until my washing is dry. It is lovely and windy at the moment.

Barbara enjoy the quiet. I'm sure baby will be recovered by Spain and the warmer weather will do her good. Are all your GD's from the same child? I'm miles away from my siblings and their children and miss them, even the one who doesn't want to talk to me anymore  wow you've made some lovely things. Mind you I complain when OH expects me to bake as I hate to stand for long. I think I've finally got through to him that if I can buy it then I will. Thing is he can cook but he needs a kick up the ****.He has promised to make bread and butter pudding today and all the ingredients are on the work surface but I bet they are still there by the evening.

At some point we are going to tidy the attic. He will pass the boxes down so we can sort through.

Toni a local match can be just as much fun. I thought it might be the same club that are holding your fund raising. How nice to have big kids home. I hope they are all doing well despite everything.
That is encouraging to hear about stepd's GD even if it was only a brief reprieve. OH Dad has gout but still eats all the wrong foods and drinks like a fish. He's 70 next week so we are all going out for a meal!
Yes I reckon they'd already sorted out your Dad's care Applerose and only told you afterwards. Perhaps they thought you would object or try to prevent it. Does that mean his house will need to be sold to pay for his care?

nice to see you popped in Toady even if you couldn't stay for long. Hope you get to catch up.

Well I'm on the old laptop and the cursor jumps around so I have to keep stopping and checking! But I'm glad Dan is allowing me to sit next to him with it on!

Take care all and have a lovely weekend.

Hello again, later if anything :? depending if you've already altered your clocks.. wen toff for a lie-down and just slept on, so an hour back won't go far.

Hope TK's party was dampened off by rain.. or at least they kept it down. A bit dull here but not wet. I put some washing out too, in fact it's still out there. Good luck over the half term. Do respite Wednesdays stay the same outside of term time or does it indirectly affect things. Did the shoes turn out ok? Hope you do get to your attic clearing, are there things you need down or are just hoping to pass on. Hope any new neighbours you may get are alright. :?

Applerose everything happened while you were away, how typical. Hope all the planned visits go ok & fit in before your daughter's flight out. Sorry to hear you have your Dad to think about too, hope he can keep his home as I can see that just knowing it's there will make him feel better - even if it's not practical for him to return. :( Wonder what your mystery new med is supposed to be. Maybe it's a mix-up. :?

Barbara you have been busy baking. :) Is it piggish to have a little of everything. Maybe I'll keep the pudding til tomorrow and have it with some custard. Glad the new mixer is whizzing through everything. It's the getting & sorting out of ingredients that makes me not want to bother  but I should make the effort. Hope the baby picks up & feels better quickly. I suppose til Wednesday is at least long enough to know how things are. Hope you are winning with the drawer clearing. :)

Sorry mig hasn't been well, and is being good about not overdoing the gardening. Must go and tidy my pots away for winter, they look awful now, straggly herbs and things that the heavy rain has 'done for'. Hoping to clear some space in the garage to bring my bench in without dismantling it. Hmm.

Bubbles is rattling a bit with pills too, oh dear, sorry about the added diagnosis. Hope the changes at least help resolve some of the symptoms you were experiencing, although that's not what you call a fair trade-off. Hope you are coping with the adjusted diet. Kitties are blissfully unbothered as long as their menus are not affected no doubt, heartless little dears.

Hello to frog, yes the tv is on a lot less these days but glad to have it back. Just in time for 'I'm a Celebrity' (do I want to see them swirling a spider round in a glass to pop in some poor celeb's mouth though.. and worse.. ). I used to play more pc role-playing games and they were v good escapism  but most have upped their graphics over time so they run poorly on my desktop. Time saved, as you say.

Hope joan is ok after yesterday's early physio appt and can have a good Sunday, and Sue.

    Love to all reading, xx.

a late evening, early morning, depending what time the clocks say :?

Baking sounds wonderful, would dig in quite happily. I will have a read back while I eat carbohydrate free cakes and buns.

Went to see the nurse, I have lost a stone, which I am well pleased with, sugars are down, says me who ate chips tonight and sent them all up again. She was happy with how things are going, increased my metoformin to two a day, just to keep things to more normal levels. Only testing my bloods three times a day.

Hope everyone has a good week end and is as well as possible. Leaving hugs, take lots of care xxx Bubbles

    Well done Bubbles

A stone!! Please can you give it to Lucy?

    Thanks ;)

Good you are able to reduce your testing to only 3 times a day :)

    Elizabeth
    - I do hope the party didn't happen :? Just what you don't need :( Thank you Charley and Tia are both doing really well and are happy. They are so pleased to see Lucy has a little hair! Is it your brother you are missing? I hope in time whichever it is gets back in touch.

I have made 3 bread ad butter puds lately - Lucy is in to them :) Suits me.

Excellent that Dan let you 'work' alongside you. He is doing so well :)

Toady - We are looking forward to I'm a celebrity. I wonder if it's partly because the weather is hot there :? The only thing we don't like is the munching of creatures :(

Most of the clocks went back on their own didn't they? Just the kitchen clock to do and watches I think...and my mobile didn't automatically change. Do they normally I wonder?

Did you used to love the sims and things like that? Charley used to adore her sims.

Barbara - I do hope baby will be well enough by the time they go away. You know what kids are like - proper ill one minute and then running around! Fingers crossed she gets well soon.

I want one of those new food processor/mixer thingies! They look fabulous :) Lucy and I made cup cakes last night and beating is such hard work isn't it? Mind maybe they also chop up healthy stuff for salads????? :?

Hi all, I won't come inside, I'll just call through the window. OH has flu. Or at least a very bad cold anyway. Don't want to pass it on to anyone. High temperature, head full of cotton wool and his skin is crawling and sore. I'm ok up to now though. Supposed to be rheumy nurse tomorrow, hope he's well enough to take me there, as it is an early start for us. :?

Hope all are feeling reasonably well - at least its not supposed to rain today or tomorrow.

I jumped the gun about the party as it turned out to be a perfect, quiet night. I'm just so on edge nowadays!
They must have been testing out their sound surround, which they usually do before a party and the weather was so nice I panicked but luckily nothing materialised. I even got to watch some TV alone from 8.pm.

When does I'm a celeb start? I wonder who they've got this year(I'll have to go and check next)! I'm not keen on the eating bit either Toni. Also being cooped up with maggots would not bother me but spiders would finish me off! The bread and butter pudding never got made whih means we have a tub of cream that needs eating. Are the cupcakes to eat or sell? You are all doing so well with your cooking!

I'm not sure about all mobiles and I have to change mine back manually. I know laptops change automatically as Dan stayed up to watch it happen.

Bet you needed that sleep Toady. I'm enjoying my lie-ins I must say.
No respite this week although a trip bowling was available but I forgot to book in time. I'm hoping to all go out for a walk tomorrow as it is going to be 19-20 degrees. I haven't ordered the shoes yet I'v got distracted again .OH keeps hinting I've got 'loads 'up in the attic but I want to keep a lot of my clothing. They will certainly fit Charlie as she has the same figure I had pre R.A and maybe Lucy in a few years.I'll probably be able to get rid of some old toys but then again...

Kath I hope OH recovers in time for the hospital appointment and all goes well for you. How are you feeling after your mtx?

Well done Bubbles on losing a stone. That is very impressive.

Yep 1 Brother still not talking to me. He is being silly but I'll be there when he eventually gets over it.

Love to those not able to pop in,
    Take care

Hi toady, Elizabeth, Barbara, Toni, Joan, hope everyone is as ok as possible and making the most of the mild weather. I am sure it used to be very chilly at this time of year when we were younger, mind you, the heat I have given off this summer is enough to count for global warming.

Hoping that colds and flu bugs will mend very soon, that MTX is ok for you Kath.
Neighbour troubles Elizabeth, oh I can sympathise with you on that. Our last house was an end terrace, with party walls that were so thin you could hear them stirring a spoon in a mug !! Anyway, it got so bad, squatters took over, 14 of them and we lived on our nerves. We managed to trace the landlord, duly he was summoned and they were evicted, thank goodness, but it was a terrible time. We have moved since then and live in a very quiet place, with lovely neighbours, most of them retired or semi retired, we like our quiet home.

Thank you for the words of encouragement on the weight loss, I guess it will slow down now. Chips, oh dear, they sent my blood sugar up the pole, so they are off the menu, well, maybe one or two. :D

Lots of love for now, wind is blowing up a storm here. Take care, XXXX Bubbles

Oooh, so many posts since I was last here. Had a very quick look through but being tired and having blurry eyes, I'll try again tomorrow.

Saw some mention of cols and flu. Hope that clears up quickly. Glad Lucy has her sisters there. I'm sure it will help.

Had a very good weekend catching up. Aunties and cousins have gone home. Kitchen was covered in plates from a takeaway, glasses and empty wine bottles from last night. Washed up most of it and got the bedding all washed and dried. Even managed a quick visit to dad and to my son's. Dad keeps saying they haven't told him when he's going home. Tomorrow all 4 of us are meeting at dad's house to clear it as it is rented. The money which dad pays for it is now needed for the care home so we've got till Friday. One sister has said there is no money for dad's insurance so has asked if we can each pay £5 every month to keep it going. As my brother is convinced my sisters took dad's savings, looks like there will be fireworks tomorrow when my brother is told. I'm dreading it. My daughter has gone to her inlaws first and coming here later so that worked out well.

Hope all are as well as can be.

Hello all, another one who will post properly tomorrow, but just looked in and wanted to wish applerose well with tomorrow's difficulties. I apologise for mentioning that I hoped your Dad could keep his house, had not factored in that it was rented so that sounds a little airy-fairy of me to think it could be kept on indefinitely. Do sympathise with all aspects of your situation and hope the impact on all of you can be kept to a minimum, and certainly that there isn't a family falling-out to add to things. Good luck with the sorting out, not nice to have to do. Will keep the kettle on a rolling boil for you.

Best also to bubbles, TK, Kath (hope the germs and the rheumy nurse can both be dispatched asap), barbara & frog, and hope joan is alright having not called in for a day or two. xx
