Hello everyone, hope things aren't too bad for any of you.

Barbara, I always get a bit anxious when I have sinus problems. I remember when I was a child, my uncle Alan had real problems with his. He had a huge swelling at the top of his nose and ended up in hospital, where they pushed tubes up into his sinuses to drain them off. He said it was so painful he passed out every time they did it. Maybe I shouldn't have told you that. :? I hope ENT sorts you out finally.

Christine, that happened to us today. Finished in time to catch the 10 past 9 bus, but didn't catch that as we wanted to use our passes. So sat waiting for the 25 to 10 bus. It didn't turn up until gone quarter too. You don't have to click my link at all if you don't fancy blues music, it's not everybody's cup of tea.

Joan, hope you have recovered from your fall and that Sue is OK too.

Our next door neighbours are moving again soon. They've only been there about 5 minutes. So we will have the worry about what kind of neighbour we will end up with this time.

I dare not post a pic of the room Toady, the aurora lights have nothing on this green! Still I consoled myself by looking at lime green designs for bedrooms and they look nice with a shot of light and dark blues and whites.

The only thing I forgot to pack for Dan was his money so he won't be able to phone or buy anything. He wasn't allowed anything electric so he has nothing to amuse him. hopefully he'll be worn out and need lots of sleep.

I'm sorry to hear about your Son Barbara. I hope he can get treated very quickly.

I'm listening to The Beach Boys documentrey online at the moment and just resting up. I have a few bills to pay but they will have to wait.....

Tons of cakes and cuppa's on the worktop for you all....

Barbara, a few days away will be good. Any idea where you might go? My rug needs cleaning after having the dog. Will get round to it one day. It is nice to be able to get out and about in decent weather again. Thanks for the crumble and custard.

Kath, it is a worry what neighbours you'll get. I have good neighbours on one side and don't want to lose them. The other side are very noisy and I don't like them very much but worry I might get worse ones.

Elizabeth, I'm looking for lime green ornaments for my dining room at the moment. I like that colour at the moment. I'm sure Dan will be having a good time. Hope you are making good use of your free time and getting some rest. after Barbara's crumble, I'll have one of your cakes with a cuppa. Thank you.

Feeling a bit worn out at the moment. I've had a barrage of emails from both of my sisters again. They seem to think that because they have dad's power of attorney, they can tell me what I can and can't do and say. All because I asked why my sister had taken out a more expensive mobile phone contract than necessary for dad and then asked me to pay half of it. Apparently she's keeping the phone and has given dad the sim for the phone he already has. I'm ignoring them again and leaving them to deal with it themselves.

Brought a big bag of summer clothes down from the loft today and got them all washed. Yaaay, summer is coming.

Elizabeth thankyou..not sure what they will do..he does a lot of lifting in his job..fitting boilers..ts possible that it down to weight training ..he gave it up a couple of years ago..thank goodness...I bet Dan is really enjoying himself..they dont give them much time to think about things so hopefully like you say he will be tired out at the end of the day. :) you made me laugh with the room..and the aurora lights  ..sure you will get used..
Christine so they are off again..you have every right to ask about the money and the phone..but like you say it is so draining and you don't need this..yes best to leave them to it.. like they say family's.. ..I have to find most of my summer clothes and buy some new T shirts.. :D still not got in anywhere ..we rang both that we normally go to but fully booked.. :o by the way its Llandudno nice and flat and seating all the way along the front...
Right will get breakfast gong..hope you all have a good day xxxx

Morning all, just waiting for shopping to be delivered and watching JK .
Sausage and new potatoes for tea with sprouts and yorkie pudds,we are having sage and onion stuffing with it ,i mixed the stuffing in a bowl and used an ice cream scoop to make balls on a tray ,this way i make a tray of 12 and when cold freeze them.
Went to town yesterday with my sister and my aunt ,we were shopping for an outfit for aunt who's son is getting married in may, thought it would take all day but within an hour and a half we were sorted, well done the assistants in John L***s for their patience with a very picky 84 year old. Mig

Barbara I don't think i'll ever get used to this colour. I really do not like it but her choice and Madam always knows best! It certainly wouldn't help your headache.
    she quite likes black too.....

Today I did not feel the need to go back to sleep. I was able to think straight and get some things done. But it is freezing here.

Poor Joan coming out in bruises after your fall.

I bet you were relieved to get Aunty sorted so quickly Mig. There's no point looking around and coming back later if you are happy. I never understand people who do that! OH thinks you should 'look around'but then forgets to go back.

that is very naughty of your Sister Applerose as she is benefiting from the phone contract. The phone isn't free and is costed into the contract. Think I'd refuse to pay. anyway why do you have to pay half when there are 4 of you? or you could go out and buy a phone on his behalf and pay the bill as it would work out cheaper. I wonder who's name the contract is in?

Last quiet day but it has done me good. I never got to go away but Lucy has her room almost finished now. Mind you when we come to sell I'll want to get it painted white again!

Hello everyone, if I spell things incorrectly you will have to forgive me. Everything is blurred and I can't focus. Really tired today. At least my mouth is better, can eat normally - for a few days anyhow. :?

Joan, sorry to hear you have bruises. Hope they soon disappear. They say witch hazel can be good for bruises.

Sorry, but I'm really going to have to rest my eyes for a while. Will get back to you another time. Have a good evening. xx

    Hi everyone,

Joan and Kath, I hope you both feel better soon. Neither of you sound too good.

Barbara, it would be good to get away right now, while the weather is nice. I haven't been to Llandudno for years. Happy memories of caravan holidays there as a child. Because it was in another country, we thought we were going "abroad", even though it was only a couple of hours away from home, on a "charra".

Elizabeth, you've done really well to get so far with Lucy's room. It's not going to be easy covering that colour though when she - or you - has had enough of it.

Christine, coconut and mango ice cream! I'll look out for that, it sounds lovely. Make sure you get on the right bus. I have visions of you ending up over the border into Scotland, one of these days! Still, you could always visit Mango.

Love to Toni, Bubbles, Toady, Mig and anyone else I've forgotten.

Now, cake, lots of cake and a caramel macchiato.....Cate

Barbara, it has been lovely here today too. I remember you saying you'd been to LLandudno before. Only been once and then only stopped for half an hour at most to see the station. Hope you find somewhere.

Mig, you are so organised, making enough to freeze. Wow, an hour and a half is very good for choosing a wedding outfit.

Joan, no need to apologise. We're all hear to listen. It sounds very painful. Hope you have painkillers for it and it eases soon. As Kath said, witch hazel is supposed to be good or arnica cream.

Elizabeth, I guess the kids all go through these phases. Maybe you'll need to wear sunglasses when you go in there. My sister said she paid £25 for the phone and will pay £5 a month but wants me, my other sister and my brother to pay the other £15 a month. My brother definitely won't as he is certain my 2 sisters took money from my dad's account when they got power of attorney. I don't mind helping with dad's bills but she could have got a free phone and a £10 contract. Glad the break has done you good.

Kath, not you too. I get blurry when I'm tired. Glad your mouth is better. Hope it stays that way.

Cate, it didn't matter that we didn't go far on holiday when we were kids. It was just good to go somewhere. Goodness, I hope I don't go that far wrong on the bus. I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry. Guess I could go and see how Mango is though. Mmmmm, cake. Can't remember now when I last had cake. being wheat intolerant, I don't eat it now. The gluten-free ones are very dry.

So is everyone ready for the eclipse tomorrow. I hope it's not cloudy. Don't forget, you mustn't look directly at the sun. I'm wondering if I could stand with my back to the sun and take a picture with the reverse camera on my phone.

Christine the sun was obscured by cloud then it appeared just in time to see it..went quite cold and dull..we used a welding mask glad no one could see me..what a good idea with your phone..I tried to get some pics but all you can see is a bright light..
Elizabeth never mind hopefully she will get fed up of the colour..is Dan home today ..bet he has a lot to tell you or if he is anything like my GC it will come out in bits :)
Cate Llandudno is my favorite because its flat and the seating..we were the same when kids..going to Towyn was like being abroad..like you say it is another country..
Joan I hope the bruises are on there way out..I use arnica gel..it worked when I had my THR..you look after yourself..and have a good weekend both of you
Kath you try and rest those eyes the comp is not good for them...hope these ease up for you soon
Right I am off out meeting youngest son and partner to have lunch somewhere not sure where yet... :?

Hello Joan, Barbara, Christine, Cate, and Kathleen - oh, that's me.

Eyes not quite so bad as it's still early and I've already had a nap. Mouth good too, which I'm glad of because yesterday we had chicken curry and today we had kippers. Wouldn't be able to eat them with a sore mouth. :|

Well we saw the effects of the eclipse while indoors, it went quite dark. Couldn't be bothered to go outside. I'm not that interested. Neighbours were out taking photos, I hope they were using proper equipment with eye protection. :o

Barbara, I hope you had a nice lunch.

Cate, I haven't been on holiday for years. Last time was Skegness, nice and flat. But YS and DIL are taking us to Butterley for the steam trains. Don't know when yet, I have Easter weekend in mind, as long as I can stay out of hospital. I was in last April as that is the month I usually get ill. :? Coconut and mango - I hope you mean the fruit and not Christine's Mango. :o

Joan, I hope your bruising is going down and not hurting so much. :(

I think I'll snaffle some of those cakes before Cate eats them all.

Oh, Emily has just emailed me a photo of her flying ducks. Will try and get them on here soon. I have to call her Hilda Ogden apparently.

g080.gif One duck, not flying.

Poor Kath I hope its nothing bad. I get blurry eyes sometimes but that's because of my contact lenses misting over!
Hope Joan is recovering. When the bruising comes out it can be painful. Barbara is right about arnica.

The eclipse was a non event here just a bit gloomy. Never mind I watched the good bits on TV.

Lucy has been bossing us about rugs for the room. I tried to get her to take her time about choosing one and knew which colours would look nice. she was just getting into a strop, wanting everything when lo-and-behold the perfect rug appeared! It is made up of little pom poms in all the right colours. It should arrive on Monday if she ca wait that long

Dan is home and you are correct Barbara he's not saying much. I've asked a few questions but he's avoiding answering. I'll leave him to recover. He's had a large dinner, asked for more, then had a coke and now sausage sandwiches! I think he was hungry! All his clothes came home safe but his headphones are missing. Luckily I have a spare pair.

His soap and flannels have not been used at all, ironic considering all the grief I get about keeping him clean!

£25 is far too much Applerose. A £10 contract would have been perfectly adequate (although contract phones can be a worry if he loses it or leaves it lying around or even if your Sister uses it to make calls while she is at his place). He'd even be be better off with Pay as you go (although you have to be careful it doesn't run out).I don't blame your brother not paying.

Hi Cate OH did all the painting and finally fixed the plug which was been hanging off the wall since I met him 17 years ago! It was good to clean up under the bed (full of rubbish but no cobwebs so that has made me feel better) and the floor and walls got a good scrub but if only she'd chosen a lighter shade!

Anyone tried Kufti mango flavour ice cream? It is delicous.

I received another birthday preset today, a lovely book on the Magna Carta sent by Daughter. she is great with gifts.

Now I had better post as this is likely to disappear. Just time to wish Bubbles ad Toady a great weekend and hope they ca pop in. Toni is busy with the fund raiser but the gifts she has received are truly lovely so it will be a success I'm sure.

Barbara, it was very cloudy here too. I had my colander at the ready but couldn't see anything at home. There were a lot of people in the High Street looking out for the sun and not one of them with eye protection. When I got to work, I'd looked out the window as I was taking my coat off and there it was - the almost full eclipse. Only lasted a second so I wasn't tempted to watch it. I then stood at the door with my phone and got a bit of video. Just uploaded it and can just see the eclipse through the cloud. Hope you had a lovely lunch.

Kath, you had me wondering if there were 2 Kathleens. Good to hear you eyes and mouth are better than they were. The ice cream has fruit mango and not dog Mango. Looking forward to seeing the ducks.

Joan, sounds as if you are taking quite enough pain meds. Hope the bruises are going now. I think I would put the cataract op off too until I really needed it.

Elizabeth, there were some very good pictures and videos of the eclipse on tv, weren't there? Pom poms sound interesting for Lucy's rug. Monday's not long to wait but I guess it seems a long time for her. Dan must have been kept very busy if he is so hungry. I'm sure he'll tell you what he's been doing a bit at a time. We used to take my son's football team on short holidays and most went home with the soap still wrapped and the flannels still neatly folded. Oh and the toothpaste not used. My dad did have a PAYG phone. We were putting £5 on thinking he won't use it much but he phoned up every day to check how much he had left and that cost 45p a time. Kufti mango ice cream? I've not heard of that. Must keep an eye open for it.

Seems to have been a very busy day. What with the eclipse and work, visiting dad then shopping. Got home and sat down with dinner then saw a message reminding me that there was a steam train passing over our viaduct at 5.10pm. Too late, I'd missed it but there was another one going over at 6.20pm. So I hurried dinner then rushed off to the bridge opposite the viaduct. There was a man already there with his camera so I walked past. As I did, he started clicking away. It was only 6pm but, when I turned round, the train was already coming past so, although I saw it, I didn't even have time to turn my camera on. The man told me there's another one about the same time tomorrow.

Also I'm going in to town tomorrow. The new High Street is opening after 3 years of redoing the whole place. Lots going on including the switching on of the new fountains in the middle of the High Street.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Enjoy your ride mig and the heated seats in your son's new car :)

Elizabeth - I just had to google pom-pom rugs!!! I love them - they look so comfy! I think I want one ;) I am glad Lucy's room is all done and dusted now.
I'm glad that your boy is home safe and well - even with his un-used soap
Thank you for your kind comments about the fundraiser - we have had some LOVELY donations - it has really reminded me of the good in people :) Thanks for liking stuff on fbook too! It helps :)

    Christine
I had my pin-hole camera at the ready we had glorious sunshine so I saw the eclipse really well. One side of the house seemed to go dark too

Your life is really hectic I think - I hope you see the train today :)

and that the new shopping centre...complete with fountain is lovely.

Hello Joan You poor thing - you certainly hurt yourself didn't you? I wonder whether your eyesight might have been relevant to the fall at all? I think you are very kind to think of others ahead of yourself as far as the cataract surgery is concerned.

KathT I'm so pleased to hear how much better your eyes and mouth are. I hope they stay that way. It' a shame you are so unlucky with your MTX :( Lucy is lucky and never has that problem despite my accidentally giving her hers in the same week as Intrathecal MTX :? It's ok Doc Tim said she might get ulcers, but no not her!

She doesn't get sick with it either and can't even have folic acid!!!

I can't wait to see a photo of your Emily's flying ducks!!!

    h1017.gif

Barbara I also used arnica with my back surgery - good stuff!!!

We had no cloud at all, but I didn't look at the sun being soooooo sensible  I got some pics of what I saw with my pinhole camera. I remember the last eclipse Lucy was a toddling and Charley wee too. I did the same then :)

I hope you had a good lunch out :)

    Cate
Tass*mo is on and caramel macchiatos there waiting for you :) We are all fine here thank you just busy with the fundraiser :D

I too love Llandudno...sigh....happy memories for me too. Including having to have my MOT done and car re-taxed there, because I hadn't spotted the date!!

I hope everyone I haven't seen is well

    Love to you all

I've only ever been to Llandudno once and it as so long ago I can't remember much about it.

Toni the gifts are lovely. You've had a terrific response. I found the rug on an online shop. I was lucky to find it. I didn't realise other places sold them and I didn't think to look around and compare prices etc. I was being hassled!
The Midlands had a nice sunny day for the eclipse :D

The fountains sound lovely Applerose. I adore water features and really should have one in the garden. Maybe when we get to re pave the patio I'll get it done at the same time.
Now 45p a min is top end costs for a mobileand there are far cheaper PAYG deals nowadays. T*sc* do a 3p, 2p, 1p deal (calls per min, text and per GB). My children have PAYG and when I top up T*sc* triple the amount so I get £30 for £10 (but you have to use the freebie £20 within a month). calls are at most 10p a minute.
It looks like the toothpaste was used at least. I've had a few snippets of information but not much. He gets a bit funny if you ask too many questions. When he had his tetanus injection they phoned us as they were having difficulties, he wasn't letting them near and did we have any ideas, it took half an hour to administer but they had to sneak up behind him. When he came home I didn't dare mention it!

Has Barbara gone away this weekend? If so I hope she is enjoying herself.
Hoping Joan, Cate, Bubbles and Kath are okay.
I wonder if Toady has finished her decorating yet?

    I'm feeling really hungry today.

Hello everyone, I hope all are feeling a bit better and are having a good weekend.

Emily's flying ducks. They are porcelain, and not chalk.

Barbara, I got some D*ff**m mouth rinse this morning, so if my mouth goes off on one again, I can try that. Glad you had a good meal. :)

Toni, the folic acid does help, it's amazing that Lucy didn't get mouth ulcers. Nor sickness without it.

mig, heated seats, lovely. I'm jealous.

Elizabeth, I bet the room looks good now it's finished.

Mig, hoped you enjoyed your ride out. I like just going wherever the car takes us. It's just nice to get out.

Toni, do let me know what to look for on Facebook. I've had a look and can't find anything. I decided not to go and see the train. I'd been out all day in the freezing cold and didn't fancy going back out again especially as the train might have been early. Sounds as if you are gathering lots of lovely things for the fundraiser.

Elizabeth, I didn't think to google the pompom rug until Toni mentioned it. They do look lovely. At least you are getting a bit of information about Dan's trip now and they managed his tetanus injection. It must be hard for him.

Joan, Hope you and Sue are having a good weekend with the dogs.

Barbara, no I haven't spoken to my sisters since the not very nice emails. I can do without the continuous ear bashing over every little thing. Haven't seen Tony's post yet. Will go and have a look. I went on a steam train just before Xmas a few years ago. It had the separate carriages for about 6 people with the corridor right down the side of the train. It was brilliant except it was freezing. That sounds lovely, sitting in the park.

Kath, love the ducks. Thanks for posting them. Hope you don't need to use the D*ff**m.

I had a lovely afternoon in town. The show was set around the new fountains and garden. There was a giant puppet which they had walking around using a crane to hold him up and the puppeteers used ropes to make his arms, legs and head move. There was also a huge eagle which flew over too. The giant narrated a story. Couldn't quite hear it properly but at one point, he walked over to several groups of children who were dancing and playing children's games in the garden and told them to get out of his garden. The eagle flew over and came down to pick up a big cover and flew off with it. Underneath were the fountains. The giant then told the children that they could have the garden but they must safeguard it so that generations of children can play there. Next they switched the fountains on and all the children who had been watching the show ran in. They were soaked through. And it was a freezing cold day but they were all laughing and screaming. It was wonderful to watch it all. I found it difficult not to cry I found it so emotional. I'll upload a couple of pictures.

Here is the giant sitting on his chair. I didn't mean to look but he was wearing black y-fronts.
