Afternoon all....I was up early but didn't get going....
Kath has your laughter got sorted with the bees or has she not emailed you ..glad you have some sparrow visiting..think they might be on there way back..I am sure the body shop wouldn't put you in a reject box
Christine I hope the sonic thing is helping..like I said we thought they weren't..but they do go eventually....and no little ones..poor you the bus going passed the stop..we used to have a driver that they called speedy and he would hate you pressing the bell  pink mag*oms...
you enjoy...
Toni you get on with that packing...I am so pleased for you and hope itall goes really well, and nice and relaxing for all of you
Its pouring down here and it said we were in for a lovely afternoon... suppose i wont have to water the garden ...
Our youngest son and family are now home form holiday...the baby saw the new TV and couldn't figure out how to turn it off...thats her party trickLove

Toni, I thought you must be busy. All systems go now. Hope the French is coming along well. No mice here at the moment. Fingers crossed I've seen the last of them.
Barbara, if I didn't need to go to work, I don't think I'd ever get going.I've not heard anything from my mouse since I switched the sonic plug on so hopefully, it has chased it away. I was hoping to spend some time in the garden this afternoon but it poured down this morning, was red hot as I walked home but then very cloudy and windy once I was home. I'm sure the baby will find some buttons to press on the tv.
Oh, Kath, it's taking some time to get rid of the bees. Hopefully, they'll be gone by tomorrow.
I'd bought
Seeing as I couldn't get in the garden this afternoon, I had plans to get lots done in the house. All I've done is get a few postcards, I'd bought over many years from places I've visited, in to a photo album. Oh well, at least I did something.Christine0 -
Morning all..cloudy here...
Kath that is taking some time poor Emily..hopefully6 someone will come soon..I do like Bees but they don't like being disturbed so tell her to be careful...
Christine sometimes I do miss getting up for work and having that routine.. I had all sorts of plans for when we retired...then Arthritis came along and OH doesn't have a pension...only old age...so he carry's on working but he doesn't like being stuck at home so he would anyway..at least you are enjoying going through the cards
I have 4 cats at my patio door...its our fault feeding them ..they eat there then run round here...
I hope Elizabeth is feeling a little better I know she was having a rough time..and that toady will soon have that appointment..I know she rang up but mi brains gone..and more to the point its is helpfulLove
Barbara0 -
Thought I'd pop in for lunch. I've had plans for things to do when I retire but now I'm thinking, if I don't have the get-up-and-go to do it now, how am I going to manage later when, and if, I ever get to retire. I don't have a pension either.
Cats. That reminded me. Yesterday, when I opened the bedroom curtains, there were 2 cats, one a few feet behind the other, walking across the road. One jumped over the gate and the other sat on the gate. I opened the window to chase them as there are sparrows nesting in the hedge. They just sat looking up at me. I went to open the front door then they ran off. Went in to the kitchen and opened the curtains. Another cat wandering about in the back garden. Usually only see one cat a week, if that. Maybe they could smell my mouse.
I was sat here thinking, "What's that weird smell? better go and investigate." I had forgotten I'd put shushi rice on for tea tonight. It has caught on the bottom of the pan. Think I managed to rescue most of it. :roll:Christine0 -
Hello Barbara Kathleen Christine Toni and anyone else I missed.

Kathleen i'm so sorry the bees are still there nasty.
Christine perhaps you need a cat I hope you can get the mouse soon.

Afternoon Joan, Barbara, Toni, Toady, Christine, and anyone else I've missed.
Still waiting to hear from Emily as to whether the bee person managed to sort her problem out. She knows we will chat on phone tomorrow, so probably will wait until then.
I hope poor Elizabeth is feeling a bit better.
Toni, enjoy France, hope the weather is good for you.
Joan, how is your ankle today?
Just thought I'd let you know that tomorrow morning I have to go to my health centre for my monthly blood test, fingers crossed that my liver enzymes haven't become more elevated. :? Also having a chest X-ray. It's 6 weeks since I was discharged from hospital, and my consultant wants to make sure that a couple of areas of infection in my lungs have cleared. I'm lucky that our health centre has its own X-ray machine, or it would have been a day trip out to one of my local hospitals. 8)"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Is Elizabeth ok?
and Cate?
and Toady??
I hope they are on their hols and not poorly?
Thanks Kath we WILL have a great time I am sureI hope the bees have moved house out of Emily's
Thanks Joan - we do need it you are so right. We go for chemo Tuesday and leave Weds VERY early. How is your injury doing?
Christine you mentioning that smell reminded me of the last mouse I 'didn't manage to find after Daisycat chased it' I found it a few weeks later....a bad smell coming from underneath the washing machineEeeeuuuuuwww!
Hi Barbara it was cloudy here first thing, but turned out lovely I hope it did for you too.
I sort of think I am retired very early unless I count as Lucy's carer at the moment?
I find plenty to do and so must you with all those lovely GDs coming and going and keeping you on your toes
Love

Joan, I am thinking of borrowing my sister's cat for a while. Hope you are having a good week.
Kath, fingers crossed that the bees have gone. Hope all goes well with the blood test and x-ray.
Toni, that's one reason I don't want to kill the mouse. I'm scared of finding it hidden somewhere after it dies. Not long till Wednesday now.
Although it was very windy here this morning, I went out and cut the grass. I put a jumper on as it looked chilly but I was way too hot. On the way to work this afternoon, it was rather chilly and dull and grey. Heard my boss, his wife and the accountant discussing how they could do their jobs anywhere and they'd like to go to California to work and live. No mention of me going with them though.
I'll leave the kettle on for anyone calling in. Hope those who weren't so well are doing better now.Christine0 -
afternoon all
Late today ..been on the phone most of the morning to TT they have charged for the mobile I cancelled at the end of my contract..I some how thought they would a warning get there name and some sort of num if you ring up to your providers..about anything..they say we didn't ring  they said after nearly 3/4 od an hour...they would knock the price off but I do wonder
Then on the phone for these blood test results..nothing yet..they were from the hospital so they should have then says my docs..and they say he should have them.. hee feel better now I have got that out...
Christine awww they cant leave you here...I hope they dont go and then your job goes with them...we used to have a cat that was useless at catching mice..now one of these next door is brilliant..the pother day it had a rat in the garden...
Joan I am not to bad thankyou..hope your ankle is not too painful..you do get on with things...
Toni ...yes you are retired in a way..but Lucy is so lucky you can there for her...not long now till your hols I have everything crossed here..
Kath I hope all went well for you today..I bet you were dreading it..hope you can let us know how it went..and hopefully your daughters bees have buzzed off..
Its chilly here today ...I was convinced we were in for a good summer shows what I know..I have lemon drizzle cake here ..so will put the kettle on...
Love

Still no news from Emily. Will chat to her later.
Blood test and X-ray went OK, but won't get results yet. Have been told to ring next week. That's if I don't hear anything before. :?
Hope everyone is OK, and have a good weekend planned."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Isn't it awful the amount of time we need to spend on the phone putting right companies mistakes, Barbara. My son has just spent an hour yesterday and again today talking to his bank about a mistake they made and it's still not sorted. Hope you get your money refunded ok. If my boss and his family did go away to work, at least I'd have nothing to do. As long as they still paid me.
Kath, I hate the waiting for test results. Wish they could tell you straight away. Maybe Emily will phone over the weekend with good news about the bees.
My son's village is having it's annual festival this weekend. Everyone makes scarecrows to put in the garden, the school has a fair and there's a big bbq tomorrow afternoon on the village green which is right in front of my son's house. Unfortunately, my son's wife and the 3 kids are all ill at the moment. I'm hoping they'll be well tomorrow. On Sunday, our town has it's annual gala. Lots of stalls and rides, steam boats and music. So that's my weekend full for a change. I find it's always the same. Nothing for weeks then everything happens all at once.
Very quiet again. Hope everyone is ok and has a good weekend.Christine0 -
Just popping in at silly o'clock for a hot chocolate. My sleeping pattern has gone to pot again. Tired, and reasonably relaxed when I get into bed, but then my mind just won't switch off, and I'm fit for nowt the next day.
I hope those who had hospital appointments get their results soon, and they are all good. I'm thinking that Elizabeth is really not well at all, which must be so hard when she always puts her lovely children first. At least I only have myself to think about, and can do what I want when I want.
Enjoy the weekend those with plans, and Bonnes Vacances to Toni for their hols. Much love to Chris, Joan and Sue, Toady, and of course our lovely Kath, who has so much to put up with that I feel bad moaning about my stuff.....Cate.x0 -
I hope you managed to get some sleep after your hot chocolate. I'm like a zombie if I don't get enough sleep. It's awful, isn't it?
The weather looks as if it doesn't know what to do yet. Cloudy but not cold at the moment. My son might be coming round to cut back some of my hedge as long as he's not unwell like the rest of his family. There might still be sparrows in there but we'll investigate before he starts.
I'll pop the kettle on and get breakfast started for anyone popping in this morning.Christine0 -
Cate I am also rather worried about Elizabeth - she isn't usually AWOL for this long and we miss her. You are right she takes her Mum-duties very seriously.
Sorry you are struggling to sleep though :? I also hope you got some more sleep after your hot choc.
Christine thank you I needed that coffee
It is pouring down here so Daisycat is a bit cross bless her
I hope there are no sparrows in your hedge!
Kath - if there's anything to hear they usually contact us don't they with results  all is well here just very busy getting ready for hols and tonight's charity do in memory of one of Lucy's chemo-crew (one year)
Barbara very frustrating for you missing results. I agree the hospital should have them if they took the blood, but your GP should be 'copied in' too so they might be AWOL  Serious chasing required next week methinks.
As for mobile phone providers - do not go there!!! They are useless! All of them I think
Hoping everyone is ok Joan????
love

Morning all..dull and wet here
Cate its good to see you whatever time but sorry you dont sleep well, Im the same no trouble getting to sleep just staying that way..hope you can have a nap later...
Elizabeth is su7ch a good mum and like you say her children come first...hope she is getting there ..
Toni..another good mum...hope that packing is going to plan..I bet Lucy is looking forward...think you will be really apprehensive..I am sure all will be well
Christine..the banks are another story what is going on these days trying to speak to a human and when you do they are no helphope your son get sorted...and hope he feels ok ..the sickness bug is going round ..we have a very large advertisement in the doctors about it...sparrow do love the hedges its a shame most have gone
you enjoy the gala and I hope you all get there..I love to see the scarecrow ..not sure were it was when we saw them..they just appeared in this village ...
one gd coming today so have to pick her..she probably wants to bake...but doesn't like the cleaning up bit...Love

Hello Barbara, Toni, Christine, Cate and anyone I've missed.
Emily still has the bees. They are masonry bees and can be destroyed. The pest controller couldn't make it Wednesday, so now she has to wait until Tuesday. :? On the brighter side, she has set up a blog for vintage lovers, including photos. If anyone would like to read it and see the photos, just visit Miss Pond (not her real name) at:
http://vintageseekerlove.blogspot.co.uk/
Christine, there's a village close to us that also has a scarecrow festival. I've never been to it, but have seen photos. Our town is having its carnival this weekend. Son and DIL have posted photos on FB already.
Cate, never feel bad about moaning to us. Hearing the problems of others puts our own into perspective. You suffer just as much as the rest of us and I'm so sorry you are having sleep problems. Whatever else is going on, if we can sleep well, we can usually cope with it.
Elizabeth, if you are still reading posts but not posting yourself, we are all thinking of you and sending our very best wishes.
Joan, hope you and Sue are both OK. Also hope you are resting your poorly ankle."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Just to let you all know that I've heard from Elizabeth. She is still struggling with fatigue and is finding things difficult. Her rhuemie nurse isn't being very helpful and she's had her son's care turned down. I told her we were all thinking of her.
Toni, poor Daisycat. Did she get wet or won't she go out? I'm sure you have told us before but I can't remember. It was rainy here today so didn't get to check for sparrows in the hedge but did see a blackbird go in.
Barbara, my son's family are still ill so I didn't get to see them today. I first saw a village full of scarecrows quite a few years ago. We were coming home from somewhere so just passing through. It was a lovely surprise. Did you GD do any baking today?
Kath, what a long time Emily has had to wait to get rid of the bees. Is she still able to use the bathroom? Bet she runs in and runs out again. I'll pop and have a look at her blog after I post. Will you go to your carnival?
As my son's family are still ill, I didn't get to see them or go to see te scarecrows or the bbq. I spent the day tidying up and putting more photos in to albums. I started off keeping them in order but ended up just putting the last ones in any order just to keep them protected. Will have to sort them properly another time.Christine0 -
Thanks Kath..I will certainly have a look at the blog..
its a shame they have to kill the missionary bees they are not at all aggressive but suppose they have to get them out the house
..I have some that have moved into my little bee house..and was hoping they breed..
Right Im off to look at this blog..Love
Barbara0 -
Mellman knows all about those mason bees Barbara. He makes bee houses for them in his garden
He will be pleased to know you have some too
I wish they could smoke them out and take them safely elsewhere too
Does anybody know if Joan is ok????
I am really worried - she hasn't posted on my update thread, which she does without fail bless her
I have posted some photos on there of last night's grease-themed charity night in memory of one of my Lucy's chemo-crew.
A vintage blog Kath what a good idea Emily has had there. I will certainly take a peek
Christine Daisycat got wetBedraggled cat!! She only uses her litter in emergencies bless her.
Thank you for letting us know how Elizabeth is. The poor girl - she has it tough. MP or the papers I think if she has had her care turned down!!!! Disgusting! Elizabeth - I hope you feel a tiny bit better soon ((())) xxx
I hope your family get well soon too Christine
Love to you all

Christine my apologies I missed you yesterday... thanks for letting us know about Elizabeth and send my love to her..she has so much on with RA and her family to look after..sorry your family is still poorly...its rotten when they are all poorly ..they cant help one another...and we don't want you getting it..I don't have a clue were we saw the scarecrows but like you it was a brilliant surprise
Toni it was Mell that got me onto the bees..I dont have as many as he as though
I have 2 bee boxes but only one has them in..and we had ivy bees last year quite rare in this country..when the ivy flowered they were all over it..hows the packing going..
I will see if I can contact Joan I have her num somewhere...don't you just worry when someone goes missing..
we have been to the shops this morning..and there was a girl begging..I dont usually give the anything apart from my big issue sellers..anyhow there was something about her...she was lovely but black leaded bless her so I got her something to eat and drink and she was so grateful..
now its playing on my mind..she is only 24...she said were she is sleeping so I will go and look for her...she didnt want social services involved because they had taken a child off her..

Hello all, just a quick visit. Any tea going?
I am much the same thanks anyone asking, haven't had my appointment yet, but hopefully will just jog along much the same til I do go & then see what's what. Yes Kath you are quite right, tiredness is not something you can really tackle, but then again I am very grateful not to be in pain of course. Just seems a waste to have moderately good limbs that I can't get the use of. :?
Sorry to see that TK is not as well as we'd all hope & will call in to see if things are improving, hope so. xx
Not much else to report, I upgraded my laptop's memory yesterday, so at least it is speedy even if I am not.The router seems to be going into a decline so have got a new one of those on the way as otherwise there would be the risk of... no internet!
horror!
Sorry also about Kath's daughter's bees.Had a lot of activity round the ivy last year & hoped they were ivy bees, I think I concluded they weren't but wasn't certain so really hope they come back so I can make properly sure this time. Unfortunately my neighbours are set on taking a hard line on the ivy from their side, so all I'm saying is, it better not kill it off my side. Won't embarrass barbara by lauding her good samaritan kindness (well I will a bit
) very good of you. xx
Hope applerose is managing to fit in a nice selection of this weekend's possible activities. Did you mention the scarecrow event last year? If so, and that's a year gone since, oh dear oh dear. Hope mousie isn't bothering you. :?
Love to Cate & joan, mig, and anyone else calling in, also good luck to those waiting for test results - going to look at frog's pictures.
ps I do love Cate's anecdote about her grandmalovely thanks.

Barbara, I've been meaning to make a bee house as well as other houses for butterflies and hedgehogs and birds. I might get round to it all one day. Don't worry about missing me. I hadn't noticed and I'm sure I do it all the time. I don't like giving to beggars. I've heard so many stories about them using the money for drink and drugs or that they make much more money than they would working. I think food and drink is a good idea though. Hope the girl you met is ok.
Toni, I saw your photos. You all look great. Glad it was a good evening if emotional.
Joan, I hope you and Sue have had a good weekend and the weather hasn't been too bad.
I popped down to the gala today. It was good. Mostly fair ground rides and stalls. There were a few steam boats on the river and a small steam train the kids could ride on. And live music. I came home and tried to make a cake I'd seen on Sunday Brunch this morning and a Sunday dinner. What a mess I made of the kitchen. All the surfaces were covered in a layer of flour and there were bowls and pots and spoons everywhere. Took me ages to clear up. Nearly walked away from it but it would only have been waiting for me. The cake wasn't that good either. I forgot to add the milk they showed on tv as it wasn't mentioned in the recipe on the website. :roll:Christine0 -
Hi Toady, you sneaked in while I was posting. Here's a cup of tea. I probably did mention the scarecrows last year. What a good memory you've got. Mousie hasn't been seen or heard for a week now. Hopefully, he's gone. Glad you've got a new router. What would we do without the internet?Christine0
