Hello everyone

Hello everyone, lovely and sunny now, fairly warm. Am going to sit out in a minute with my book and a macchiato.
Barbara, I was watching that programme on telly last night, set in Scarborough. Brilliant by the way, I absolutely love anything Kay Mellor writes. Brought back wonderful childhood memories with my mum and dad. Once I had my own children we mostly went abroad, and it dawned on me that they may have missed out on some fabulous places in this country. Weather was always the big factor though. Have a lovely time, and don't forget the rock.
Mig, can you make us something with salted caramel? lots of it! I'm loving the stuff fancying it all the time......no worries at my age!
Much love to everyone else.....Christine, Kath, Toni, Joan, Elizabeth, Toady. I hope I haven't missed anyone.......Cate.x0 -
Hi, thanks everyone asking after me, still here lol
yes been to GP, can't say it got me far, next stop rheumy - probably ditto.
Just keeping my head down as I know I've been pushing it a bit lately. Will have to cut my coat according to my cloth, as they say (blast 'em).
Hope barbara got off ok this morning and will see everyone soon as will still call in as & when.
Weather nicer - well now it's stopped blowing & whatnot like yesterday - the downside is, constant noise from squawking nesting blackbirds  set off every time they see a magpie or a cat which is practically 24/7.
Conversation, Cate? :? Can't hold a decent one these days, mainly because I don't think I'll ever get used to swapping my original 'phrase book' (thanks for the invitation/see you tomorrow/yes I had a nice holiday) for nonsense like 'sorry can't', 'see you sometime (maybe)', and 'a nice what?' And whatever does come out is on auto-pilot and therefore probably gibberish.
Kind of agree with barbara's OH these days, to be honest, I mean until they've told you you've got 'it' you may still not have 'it' - I do a lovely ostrich impression.
Anyone got windows 10 yet? any thoughts?
Hope everyone's garden is doing ok, I've only got one runner bean seedling up so farso 'running' really late with those (sorry!) and won't be getting many '1 of 5 a day's out of those at this rate.
Love to everybody xx
good luck with the packing frog!0 -
Barbara will already be on he hols. Hope she's having a good time so far.
Mig, the soup sounds delicious but I think it's windy enough around here.
Toni, when are you off on your hols? I always start getting things together on the spare bed a few weeks before.
Cate, hope you got to sit outside in the sun. I can't sit for too long and always end up doing something. Today I got the grass cut. It was about a foot high in places. And clipped a few bits of an acer which was supposed to be a small one and it now about 10 feet tall.
Toady, hope you get more answers from your rheumie. I got a message pop up asking if I wanted the free Windows 10. Don't know anything about it so think I should check it out. Keep forgetting to sow my beans. It's on my to do list and we all know what that means.Christine0 -

Thanksthe win10 prompt thing is because of a particular update that will have downloaded around the 19th I think. I skipped it as I probably won't upgrade so didn't really want it pestering me.
I'm not last with my beans (a small gloat) sorry!0 -
Sorry not been around. My throat has been awful, constant struggle and I have been sick down my clothes a couple of times. Dan came and patted my back once bless him. I've stopped humira and hoping it will start to improve from now on.
I'm happy to stop those foods as the stomach pain and irritated throat is nasty enough to give me an incentive. Oh yes chocolate is still on the menu! I think it was the same med that caused my problem Toni and when I was given omneprazole it wasn't explained why they were needed so I rarely took them.
Got a letter asking me to book rheummy appointment. So I phoned and I was waiting for a date far off in the future so when they said Sept 3rd I asked if they meant this year!!!
My Son had his final exam yesterday so has a couple of rest days followed by his birthday on Sat so I get to see Charlie. I have no idea what to buy him so might just put money away in his account seeing as the interest is so good (compared to anything I can achieve). I'm glad he doesn't want anything for the sake of it.
I'm going to have a sit in the garden as it is such lovely weather before the Social services lady arrives asking hundreds of questions.

4.10pm, and the sun is still shining. It's been quite warm here today. Hope everyone has had good weather too, and that you've been able to get out in the sun a bit.
Elizabeth, it sounds as though you have really suffered. Was it the Humira that caused it? Hope you start to feel better soon. My next rheumy appointment is November, but it was planned in May. I'm surprised she hasn't called me in sooner considering my blood tests weren't good so my MTX has been reduced. :?
Christine and Toady, I hate that win 10 thing too. I hope it disappears after the date. I don't want it either but the thought of that popping up every day annoys me. Found this after doing a g***gle search:
" It's official: Windows 10 is coming on July 29 as a free upgrade to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users (for one year). Microsoft's latest OS will be available to pre-order in the coming weeks when it launches in 190 different markets around the world."
So it looks like you will have to pay some kind of fee after one year.

Kath, I'm taking that to mean, the offer is there for a year (free win10 upgrade for 7 & 8.1 users), those not taking up the offer within that time would then have to pay to upgrade? But I haven't looked into it much, as I'm not interested at the moment. For one thing the details on whether you can roll back have seemed a little sketchy.
Sorry you have been suffering TKblasted medications
hope things settle.
Hi to anyone calling in & a wave to Barbara beside the seaside, hope it's as nice(ish) there as it is here.
Am fiddling around with a scanner I bought 2nd hand, should be handy (never had one before) - ah the joys of 10-year old tech for the easily pleased.0 -
Hi everyone!!
Such a relief to see Toady and Elizabeth - I was touched to hear Dan patting your back Elizabeth - bless him
A definite link then with those other meds for both of us. I hope you are not being sick now ((()))
Nice early rheumy apt
Your son can have a birthday cake and as you said bank the money if he doesn't want anything very wise.
Toady I hope Rheumy has something up his sleeve to help you :? Did you have to take a mo to accept the need to 'cut your cloth' then?
Enjoy your scanner - I have to use mine to scan in a letter from Dr Tim re Lucy to be translated into French for our hols - to France after chemo on 23rd leaving on 24th. Will say something about it maybe on the thread about Lucy later.
KathT I will not be doing windows anything other than 7 until I am forced!!! I HATE change (whimp!!)
Wasn't it a lovely day yesterday?
Hi CateGood to see you. I hope you enjoyed your posh-coffee and read in the sun
Love to you too!
Christine - we are off to France on 24th until 19th July!!! Staying in a lovely stone house in France where we stayed the October half term before Lucy got ill. - it is LOVELY there and has a pool etc.A it's a long stay we need to be extra prepared I think
Practising my French too :?
I hope our Barbara is having a lovely time!!! We miss you already if you can see this.

Woohoo, look at our Barbara in her bikini. The irony is I could wear one since weight loss, but too flipping old now. She knows how to pick the weather too doesn't she?
Toni, your holiday sounds like absolute heaven, and just what you all need after the nightmare you've lived through. When I read about Lucy I am bowled over by her courage. Bless her always.
All this talk about windows and stuff scares the bejesus out of me. I use an Ipad, and don't understand half of the stuff on that. Still as long as I can order me shopping, buy on Ebay, and visit on here, I'm happy. I've just bought a laptop, mostly to watch Telly in one of my bedrooms that doesn't have one.....I flit from room to room as the mood takes me......and it's a lovely piece of kit, but I haven't a clue what to do with it. It's sitting there looking at me balefully. My son will sort it when he next comes home. Mind you, if it's left to my daughter-in-law, I'll be long gone before that happens. I have to laugh, otherwise I'd never stop crying. Oh well, her loss.
Toady, you are another one I think who hides a lot behind humour. I hope you get some help from your Rheumy.
Kath and Elizabeth you must get fed up when the meds you need so badly actually make you feel worse. Thinking of you both.
Christine, are you off to the market over the weekend? We loved markets - and car boot sales - and happily spent all our weekends buying loads of stuff that were bargains....but never got used! I haven't felt like going since my hubby died. My arthritis never stopped me then, which I think says a lot about emotional pain manifesting itself physically.
I am off to do a lady's hair later. I was a hairdresser with a salon, and said I would keep doing a few clients when I sold up. She rather expects it now, even though I've dropped hints that I find it difficult. I'll have to get a bit firmer soon. She's the type who will get stroppy though, and I'm not good at confrontation.
Bacon buttie and a builders now...to keep me strength up!......Cate.x0 -
Yoo hoo, Barbara and Mr Barbara. Hope you are enjoying yourselves.
Cate, you're never too old for a bikini. I only ever wore one once, when I was 17 and had a shape + two boobs.Wouldn't wear one now though.
Toady, you could be right. I never thought of it that way.
I've already posted this on another thread, but will share it with you:
Just received letter from my rheumy. It says:
"Dear Kathleen, Your most recent blood tests shows a slightly raised enzyme of your liver. It is not alarming but needs careful monitoring. I am therefore reducing the dose of Methotrexate to 20mg once a week (rather than 25mg that you are currently taking). "
My GP will receive a letter, well actually I think she's already had it as the surgery rang yesterday to ask me to make an appointment for a blood test which I already had done anyway. Have been having monthly ones for ages now.
1. She has been telling me about my lft results being slightly elevated for ages now, before she increased it to 25ml. So this information is not new. Wondering now if this is an excuse as Carole very kindly forwarded me a warning about MTX 25ml injections from another RA website.
2. When I saw her last (May 18th) and my LFTs were already being questioned, she was talking about increasing my MTX to 30ml!!
Something wrong here methinks. Any thoughts?? :?
Hope all are enjoying the lovely warm weather and hope you aren't having any pesky thunderstorms."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Heaven only knows Kath!!!!!!!!!!
the worry is I suspect your rheumy doesn't know either
Carry on as you are I say
Cate - it IS her loss it really is and such a shame for your son too. She is a silly girl to be threatened by your relationship with your son ( that's the only thing I can think of as I can't imagine you being nasty to her!).
Technophobe like me then
Lucy is a girl to be proud of thank you. She's been to hell and almost back now only about 16 months to go.
Love

Just done a long post as I hadn't been in last night and I had a story to tell but I got logged out for not being quick enough so lost it. I'm too tired to do it again so will tell you about it tomorrow.
Love to all. xxChristine0 -
Christine I hope it's a 'good' story and not a sad one? :?
Sometimes it's difficult to write things in time. Is it worth typing it as a word document then cutting and pasting it across???
Another lovely day ahead here I think
Off to the garden centre to meet up with friends at lunch-time
Love

Popping in to try again.
Toni, someone else suggested copying and pasting from a word doc but you know what it's like, in one ear and out the other. No, it's not a sad story at all. Thinking about it now, it's hilarious.
On Thursday night, I went up to bed as usual and lay down to read my book. After a while, I heard a scratching noise and wondered what next door were doing. It kept going quiet then the scratching noise again. Then I heard it up above me and realised it was in the loft and you know what that means.
I decided to ignore it as it was in the loft out of my way and I couldn't do anything about it at that time of night anyway. Shortly after, there was a noise in my wardrobe to the side of the bed. (I have cupboards over the bed, single wardrobe either side and a double next to one of the singles in an L shape). I sat bolt upright and sat wondering if I should open the wardrobe door or run.
Next thing, I was kneeling in the middle of the bed trying to work myself up to opening the door, when a tiny tiny head poked out from the bottom of the wardrobe door, looked round then a baby field mouse jumped out and sat looking at me. Eeeeek! What to do. Cat. Make like a cat. So I leaned forward and hissed like crazy at it expecting it to run back the way it came and leave the house.
But no. It ran like crazy under the bed. I felt as if I was surrounded (by one tiny baby field mouse). I eventually gathered myself together and realised that it wasn't exactly going to swallow me whole. I couldn't get rid of it and I couldn't sleep there so I gathered my duvet and pillows and my book and gingerly stepped in to my slippers and went downstairs to sleep. Not that I slept much that night. Earlier in the evening, I had taken all my photos out of the wardrobe, 2 boxes full and a pile of albums so I went up and down another 3 times to bring them downstairs as I didn't want them all nibbled.
Yesterday, I went to the diy shop and bought a humane mouse trap, put some peanut butter in and set it up in the bedroom. Not been any sight or sound of it since. Guess I did an extremely good cat impression.Christine0 -
Hello Toni Christine and anyone else who's in.

Joan, I haven't heard or seen my mouse since that night so I'm sure he's gone home now. Fingers crossed.
Welcome home Barbara. Sounds as if you had a good time. Maybe apart from the long bus trip. Wish I'd known you would end up in Middlesbrough. It's not far from me. Might be going there today. But I guess you didn't know you were going there either. Love the scooter. My mum always wanted one like that. Must be the rebel in you.
Toni, I dared to sleep in my bed the next night and haven't seen or heard from my mouse since that night. The trap is still there. Not been touched. I obviously do a great cat impression.Christine0
