Mig, the liquid in the bottles is fermenting well but making some strange gurgling noises.

Toni, sorry to hear that Lucy has a cold too. Maybe she caught it from someone else. It sounds as if you've done all you can to keep it from her.

Joan, I think there have been a few problems with the pages after the forum was updated. I hope the tablets work well for Sue.

Slomo, you do have a couple of busy days. I find nothing happens for weeks then it all comes at once. Hope your phone turned up.

Barbara, the bags sound like a great idea and they can be re-used. Lovely, apple crumble. I brought home a few cooking apples from my boss's garden. Every apple had fallen on the ground. I managed to find some which were undamaged. haven't done anything with them yet.

Oh Kath, all those tests and scans. It certainly would be a good idea to just send the bits along on their own. Wow, we are all going to be stuffed full with all that wonderful food.

My DIL dropped my GD off early this morning and we had fun making all the teddies better with the doctor's kit. Then we found a tool kit which I'd bought for my GS last year so we fixed the fire engine and cars that we found in the toy box. Lunch and a nap then mum turned up to take her home. Half an hour later, my oldest GS turned up to see his sister, not knowing she'd gone home. He and his friend stayed a while as they were going to a party after tea and they weren't ready for them. I don't get to see much of him these days as he's always out with his friends so that was good.

    Hi everyone,
That's me been thoroughly perforated today! Had my blood test and my flu jab and just for good measure the nurse gave me the pneumonia jab as well. Had decided I would get the flu jab in my right arm as some of you had mentioned your arm being a bit achy afterwards but he gave the pneumonia jab in the right arm as he said that is more likely to give me an achy arm than the flu jab. So blood test and pneumonia jab on the right and flu jab in the left. Aim was to keep my dominant hand and arm ache free - yes, I'm a lefty. I remember many centuries ago when I was at school and we had to get an injection, there was never any option of which arm it went in, it was automatically assumed that everyone was right handed and us leftys just had to grin and bare it.

Tomorrow is my bone scan appt; yes Kathleen it is a DEXA scan, never had one before. It's at 2pm so I think I'll just go in early and have lunch at the hospital cafe and then at least I'm there and can check where exactly I have to go without worrying about the time.
Still no sign of my new mobile phone being delivered. I know it was meant to be at the delivery depot yesterday so was really hoping it would come today.

Kathleen, love the idea of packing up our 'bits what require testing/scanning' and sending them off themselves - 1st class courier, I presume so we get them back asap.

Just sitting here now and considering optíons for our evening meal and suddenly remembered OH's comment last night. I'd made pasta with mini meatballs and tomato sauce. Partway through eating this, and apparently enjoying it, he suddenly said 'these are meatballs aren't they? It's not just lumpy mince?'! So much for cordon bleu cooking.

It's a miserable day here now, low cloud and damp although not actually raining at the moment, what we'd tend to call a dreich day, makes you feel chilly and cold even if the thermometer tries to tell you otherwise. Time for a cup of tea, I think.

All the best everyone, take care

    Afternoon everyone,

These left over Halloween monsters are beginning to pinch some of our grub, and make a mess while they're at it. Just thought, it will soon be time for the Christmas ones. :o

Barbara, I'm glad you managed to see some fireworks from your window. I can't stand for long either, and now I'm afraid of burnt out fireworks landing on my head.

mig, bubble and squeak with pork and apple sausage. My mouth is watering, any leftover?

Joan, I hope you and your doggies weren't bothered by the bangs and crashes of fireworks, and hoping you have a peaceful weekend.

Slomo, my youngest two are 'lefties' eldest three aren't. My mum was originally a lefty, but being forced to use her right hand at school (1930s) made her become ambidextrous. She could use both hands for anything except to write. Oddly she could only use her right hand for that. :? Lumpy mince indeed. Hope your DEXA scan went well and that your results are good when you receive them.

Hope everyone is enjoying Emily's lovely grub. c085.gif

hello people :) will hold fire on updating you all yet (on account of superstition & speaking too soon) but let's just say I'm still here  & if anyone wants me I am in a dark quiet corner with a good strong cup of cafe tea.

much love to all & best to everyone having scans, being jabbed & variously poked around, & poor mig hope you shake off the sneaky cold quickly, Toni & especially Lucy too, oh dear, curse germs. :(

quick hello to slomo and I love the name :D hope to see you around.

Joan, I hope you didn't get bothered with the fireworks. Do they bother the dogs? Hope Sue is feeling better.

Barbara, I see you've got your blood results back and your kidneys are worse. Will they do anything about it?

Slomo, you sound a bit like a pin cushion. My arm aches a bit after the flu jab so they put it in my left arm. Problem is I sleep on my left side. Was your bone scan today? Hope it went ok. Had to giggle about the lumpy mince. That's men for you.

Mig, hope that nasty cold goes soon.

Kath, my mum was a leftie and was allowed to use her left hand at school. My son is left-handed but wasn't allowed to use it. He was given a special triangular piece of rubber to go on his pen to help him to become right-handed.

Toady, good to see you. Here's a top up for your tea.

As you know, I had my hours at work cut by a third a couple of weeks ago and was told to only do the washing and ironing and the floors. Well my boss's wife came in to see me yesterday. She said they wanted me to do less ironing (she would do what I didn't finish) and spend more time on the other things. So I told her the only other thing were the floors and I didn't need more time for those. Apparently, her husband hadn't told her and she practically begged me to do the bathrooms because she wasn't going to do them. Apparently, not because she didn't want to but because she doesn't notice when they need to be done. So why did she ask me to do them?

Had a good night last night. I went with my son, his wife and the kids to the next village where they had a huge bonfire and put on a fantastic fireworks display. They only ask for donations to help pay for it. My son had to take the little one back to the car though as the noise scared her. They were very loud.

    Hello everyone :)

    Will try to catch up!

Barbara - have they given you iron in connection with your kidneys? MY MIL has dialysis now, but it seems you can get iron deficient hence the tiredness :?

CHRISTMAS smilies!!! WHAT!!?? You are a big kid at heart

Mig my cold came on like that too. I thought it was the injections for my fillings, no sore throat/warning. Hope you're ok now?

Hi Joan - I hope you are ok and Sue too is still recovering ok??

Slomo - I am glad to hear you are all vaccinated ;) Hopefully you'll be all protected now. Shame at school you had to have your left arm jabbed.

When my daughter has her chemo they do bloods in one arm at clinic then the cannula in the other on the ward so they always trash both arms

I'm sure your OH enjoyed his meatballs really!!

    Christine
I am glad the bonfire was fun, but sorry it scared the littlie :( ahh!!!

Your bosses wife should be the one making the decisions about what is done in the time I think. I hope she tells him what she's asked you to do. I think they may live to regret cutting your hours....... :?

Toady - I shall not speak too soon, but feeling hopeful for you (()) xx

My cold went as quick as it came!! Yippeee :) as did Lucy's!

Kath thank Emily for us for the food won't you? Both my kids are a bit ambidextrous though mostly wrote right-handed play sports left handed and knives and forks left handed. Even as young as they are the dinner ladies used to tell them off ::)

Hoping Elizabeth and Cate are ok :?

    Love

Good Morning Barbara and Joan :)

Joan I pictured the dogs looking out of your window! Nosey dogs aren't they? I bet the neighbours look out for their little faces :D

Hopefully the journey will get better as the roadworks should be finishing at the end of this month  Thanks.

Barbara - I have no idea whether it would help, but that and really avoiding salt were her initial treatments...got to be worth a try eh?

Raining here this morning. Caught Daisycat coming in the door and dried her off - she pretends to hate it and squeals, but you can't miss the purrs!!

Right a quick once-over avoiding the bottled potion (mig!).

Toni, I don't think my boss's wife is too bothered about what gets done. She told me she doesn't notice when things are dirty and my boss told me she wouldn't notice if her clothes were ironed or not and she agreed. Poor Lucy, having needles in both arms. No wonder she was scared of them. Hope the hypnotherapy is still working. Poor Daisycat, getting wet in the rain.

Joan, I think your cold has hung around long enough. Hopefully, it is clearing up now. I can picture your dogs looking out of the window. They like to see what's going on, don't they?

Barbara, sounds as if you had a lovely time with your son and his family with the fireworks and pizza. Yum. There have been fireworks going off here Friday and Saturday too. There will probably be more tonight if the rain clears up.

Went to get my filling done the other day. When the dentist started drilling, my tooth fell to bits so she had to rebuild some of it. Then she noticed a little hole in the one next to it so had to take the crown off it to fill it so I have 2 temporary crowns on now. Going back in 2 weeks to get the permanent ones on.

I went on the train in to town yesterday to try and start thinking of Xmas. Bought a few little bits so made a start. Not much to get really. I bought some Uggs for my eldest GD while I was in Oz and I'll be ordering things from Oz to be delivered to my GC over there so that leaves my eldest GS and my youngest GD, my dad and my son and daughter and their partners. The rest of the family don't exchange presents as there are too many of us.

Hope Elizabeth and Cate are ok and just having a rest from the forums.

Toni I do follow a low salt diet , thank goodness I have never used a lot, but I am going to ask about my iron levels..aww bless daisy cat liking to be rubbed down.. and thank goodness the rd works are coming to an end..you must have dreaded the journey...
Christine I had to laugh at your boss..you might has well not iron them..sure they would notice... I did enjoy the fireworks and pizza..the baby is not scared one bit but her sister nearly 11 was terrified..bless her..what a palaver at the dentist..the same happened to my filling but must say its been trouble free since they built it up..touch wood..my head..so you have made a start with Christmas it does make you feel better.. we dont have many now to buy for..so its pretty easy..
Went to a mill just round the corner form us and bought my niece some fake flowers in a glass bowl she liked and a couple of candles..one for me... :D
Joan sorry you have a nasty cold hope it goes very soon, there are lots of bugs going round..

Mine was exactly the same!! Also had a mask over my face to try and prevent Lucy catching it!!

Glad to hear Mig, that the bottles are being allowed to remain as yet.....wonder whether we ought to build a secret wall so the H&S think we haven't got them anymore??

Joan - we are at the end of a cul-de-sac too. My Mum would have hated it as she liked to see people go past her window. I don't mind it's safer for Daisycat :) I hope your cold is easing? Sorry if you caught it off me or mig!!!

Barbara - wrap the pressies!!! I remember you loosing some (books was it?) last year!!

I really hope cate and Elizabeth are ok too.

Christine - the hypnotherapy is still working yes :) Lucy has needles in her spine too - I really don't know how she copes bless her.

Ouch! I am sorry about your teeth  I hope she can save them for you. My biggest fear false ones you know. Well one of my biggest fears the other one has happened with Lucy getting cancer.

Well done at least starting on the pressies :)

I'm still here, never fear. I'm usually hanging around even if I don't post. Ooooh, just noticed the ghosties and ghoulies have disappeared. Might have more food for us now, and less mess for Toni to clean up.

Blood test this morning, GP on Friday morning, think that might be about my liver. Echocardiogram on 25th at the hospital Cardiology department, and Rheumy on 30th.

Toni, I don't know about a wall, what about a bunker? :? Hope there's no toxic waste in there - good job I didn't chuck my remaining MTX injections in the cauldron.

Joan, when do you hear more about your ankle?

Barbara, thanks for the cheese on toast, I've put Wo***ster Sauce on mine.

Mig, glad to hear your cold is clearing - just in time for your hair appointment.

Sending everyone hugs, extra large ones for those feeling particularly ill. Elizabeth, Toady, Slomo, Cate, and anyone I've missed. xx

Barbara, the flowers in a bowl sound pretty. I like candles although I don't often light them. Did you get some pressies bagged and tagged?

Mig, glad your cold is going. Bet you feel lighter for getting your hair done. I know I do.

Joan, I lived in the middle of a cul-de-sac a lot of years ago. We were in the middle. It was very quiet.

Toni, needles in her spine? Lucy is so brave. I suddenly got bad toothache (in a different tooth). Went to the dentist this afternoon. She told me that it looks as if the root canal has got narrower and squeezed the nerve killing it off and causing infection. I can either pay hundreds of pounds for a private dentist to have it filled (they would have specialist equipment to find the canal as it is too small to see now) or have it taken out.

Kath, hope the blood test went ok. Still a few more appointments to go. Hope they go well too.

My boss came to see me this morning. Said there seems to have been a bit of confusion on his part. Instead of me doing just the washing, ironing and floors, he listed everything he wanted me to do and not do. So I said, "Do you mean you want me to do everything I was doing before except the boys bedrooms and the washing? " "Erm, yes. We'll do the washing and some of the ironing." Why didn't he say that in the first place?
