Will we see Elfie this year I wonder???
It's getting Christmassy and I'm sure he'll be around soon
Well the bad news is the boiler didn't just need it's pilot re-lit
Good news is I have a man here ATM fixing it. The pump has 'gone' and me pipes are all furred up!
Joan thanks I hope it is fixed tonight. We are coping anyway we have an oil filled radiator in Lucy's room and a halogen in ours. Fire in L room and under-unit electric fan heaters in kitchen (rarely used, but coming in handy now).
Christine I hope it's stopped raining and it didn't get into Sainsbury's. Good thing you are up-hill like us. The only time I'm glad to be up-hill!
Slomo I am so sorry you have been so rough. Does sound nastyI hope you are feeling better?
I am like you I really DON'T like giving money!! I like something special that is right for that person...sigh!
Barbara Lucy is constantly looking at the information about the terrorists and Paris news ATM. I hope your GC don't worry too much ((()))
Is it you or 14-year-old counting the days till Christmas??
Mig I hope you get over your cold quickly. Is it frowned upon for you to go to rheumy's with a cold??
Love
Toni xxx0 -
Joan, yes I did have a good weekend, thanks. I hope you and Sue have got over your colds.
Barbara, the river went back down a bit during the night but the fields were flooded this morning. Not as bad as in other areas, thank goodness.
Toni, I'm sure it is almost time for Elfie to appear. Wonder what he'll get up to this year. Hope your boiler is fixed and your pipes have been unfurred. Lucky you had the fires.
I went to my appointment at the rheumatology clinic at my GP's surgery today. The first time I went, 2 years ago, the nurse didn't seem to know what she was doing. She told me she didn't know anything about RA and had been asked to just take weight and height and blood pressure and ask a few lifestyle questions. Last year, I was asked about my RA and how I was coping as well as bloods. This time, the nurse looked back through my whole history then decided to do a healthy heart check at the same time. I've to go for full bloods plus cholesterol on Thursday. I also mentioned that I hadn't had my invite for my flu jab so she did that too. So 3 appointments done in 1.Christine0 -
Hello Barbara Toni Christine and anyone else I missed.
Barbara you look after yourself as well.
Toni I hope your boiler is soon fixed they always break down at the wrong time.
Christine yes thank you the colds have gone. you did well getting the 3 things done in one.

Morning all..its ok I wont mention the weather..
Toni ..yes suppose its me has well..counting down to Christmasyou know me so well and we haven't met..
poor Lucy she has enough to deal with..these terrorist should realize how lucky they are to be healthy..you have furry pipes..make sure they flush you out or it will damaged the new pump..see I have learned this of my OH..nearly 60 years working with gas
Christine yes little elfie I loved it..he could be so naughty..glad to see your rheumy spent time looking through your history..the first one i saw many years ago didn't want to know... but the last one was better
but they are still undecided.. glad the flooding went down..
Joan not long now till your appointment..I still have everything crossed for you ..
My eldest GD is now looking at working with the elderly in there homes..wish she would go into nursing like Toni's daughter..sorry forgot which one it is
Dil has just sent me a whatsapp film of the baby going to nursery school..she is singing her head off..
thinking of Cate Elizabeth and Toady.. xxxxLove

Hello Everyone
Had a manic day today somehow.
Heating is fixed thank you Joan and everyone else. It does always go when you least need it to  At least we kept Lucy warm though
I hope you and Sue and the doggies are ok.
Christine sounds like the nurse was on the ball once you alerted her to everything. Well done for having your jab done good girl. I hope the cholesterol result is goo too.
PLEASE see if Elfie is ready to come out!! Me an Barbara loved his antics!! Makes us feel Christmassy. Does everyone in here know who he is? Slomo won't so a photo might be needed
Barbara I know you love Christmas - I do myself and I think it's a nice way to beI feel like I DO know you! It's been a few years you know
Yes the lad said the pipes need a flush, but he had to send a sample off first. So should hear back in about 7 days> The sample looked like black ink!
It's really blowy tonight I hope everyone is safe and in the warm
Love
Toni xxx0 -
Joan, hope you and Sue are doing ok.
Barbara, it wasn't my rheumie I saw, just the nurse at my GP's surgery. I feel I get more from there than from my rheumie. Although, if things get worse, I'll have to go back to the hospital. I think it's great that your GD wants to help the elderly. Perhaps she will eventually go in to nursing and specialise in elderly care. How lovely the little one was so happy going to nursery.
Toni, glad your heating is fixed. I'm pretty sure my cholesterol level will be too high. Too much ice cream. I've had a look and Elfie doesn't seem ready to come out to play. I think it's usually around 1 December so maybe another couple of weeks. Here's a pic of naughty Elfie I found.Christine0 -
Hello Barbara Toni Christine and anyone else I missed.
Barbara that's lovely to see her laughing. I hope you have a good day.
Toni i'm pleased your heating is fixed I hope it carries on.
Christine I hope your cholesterol isn't too high.

Morning all..very wet and dark...
Christine ..Awww we have Elfie..the picture instantly cheered me upcant wait to hear about his antics..you should write a book...you seem to have a good nurse there...what a difference that must make...
Toni glad the heating is fixed..its horrible in this weather when its off..hope they flush you our soon...you are busy so dont go worrying about posting..pleasesee..and yes we have known each other a few years now..
Joan I am a happy sort of person...and I take inspiration form you and Sue who are so strong and positive..hope you are both keeping warm...
A cuppa I think then will stoke up the fire..its freezing...

Hello everyone, hope you are all safe and well after last night's awful storm. We didn't have any damage ourselves, but the wheelie bin and some potted plants in the front garden were blown over. I hear that up where Emily is, in the mountains of Derbyshire, 30 trees were uprooted. I keep telling her she shouldn't live on the top of a mountain - well, she might as well do. :?
I had my X-ray yesterday. Painful -I managed to get on the couch reasonably well, but laying on my painful back was deeply unpleasant, and when the technician helped me off my back went into a spasm that made me cry out in pain. Suffering today, so not looking forward to next Wednesday when I go for my echocardiogram. I've booked transport so I hope the car they send isn't too low slung as I will never get out. I get the result between 7 - 10 days.
Christine, last time I had my cholesterol checked it was well within the normal range. But I still take a Ben*col yoghurt drink every day to try and keep it low. What a cheeky little elfie.
Toni, I didn't know who Elfie was either.
joan, so glad to hear you and Sue got rid of the colds.
I hope tonight is a bit quieter than last night. the wind scares me in case of damaged to our roof/tv aerial etc.
Won't be long before we get the Christmas smilies"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

What a night, only damage is to the shed ,it wanted recovering but we hoped to get it done next spring now we have to get in done in the next week or so,been round the garden picking up pots and bits of the shed roof cover, pouring down now and really dark.
Made barbecue ribs for tea and pasts salad. Mig0 -
Gosh Mig! You poor things. We have branches down and I saw some trees across the chase (Cannock Chase - it's a forest).
Enjoy your tea
Poor you too Kath - your back!! Nothing worse than having to lie flat on it is there? At least it's done now. Echos are painful at the front though
I am glad you have met Elfie now isn't he sweet? Cheeky though
Whose shaving foam has he pinched???
I also have one of those yoghurts every day just in-case
Oddly Barbara one radiator isn't on :? I tried to 'bleed' it but there's no air. It's in L room which has two radiators anyway and the fire so ok.
Elfie made me smile too bless him
Keep happy it's the only way to be. Makes life a lot easier I think
Hi Joan We are warm enough now thanks. Feeling much happier myself today that the wind has died down. Did you get it up your way too?
I expect Elfie will be ready to come out soon Christine. He's probably not thought up enough mischief yet......
I haven't had it checked lately, but my cholesterol must be high I love CREAM, (sliced double  ), and hot choc and macchiatos......and butter :?
Right must get some work done
love
Toni xxx0 -
Fatigue is bad at the moment so I haven't been online very often. The GP gave me creams and pills for the itching so it is a little better and it might be the pills making me even more tired than usual.
GP said it could be liver or kidneys so I've booked a blood test but its a wait until then. I'm just too drained to go to a walk-in.
Kath sorry you are struggling. I was glad when they kept me off mtx.
I love cream too Toni, whipped, double, single love it all. My Daughter hates it!
Not at all Christmassy yet. I'm having to cut down this year.
We have the dreaded PIP medical (at home) for my Son on Monday. If his award is downgraded I'll really be struggling this Christmas. But the kids have got enough so no worries.
Sorry many of you have suffered from the stormy weather. Its not been too bad here. At least the washing has dried.
Fish n Chips tonight!
Hope Cate is okay and all went well with her Son's visit.

Barbara, the nurse told me she was just being nosey looking through my notes but, as she said, it means she might pick up on something that hasn't been spotted. I agree with you about Joan and Sue. Joan always seems positive and I get the impression Sue is too.
Kath, that sounds frightening. We had the wind howling and the rain pouring down and the river flooded in to the fields but doesn't sound as bad as where you or Emily are. Ooh, ouch, ouch. My back goes once in a while so I know how painful that can be. Hope it eases quickly.
Mig, sounds as if you had a bad night with the weather too. I haven't checked my garden yet. That's an expense just before Xmas. At least it'll be done before the worst of the weather.
Toni, my downfall is ice cream. I had gone off chocolate but as I had chocolates left from Halloween, I have been making my way through them. Maybe from next week, I'll be told to stick to lettuce leaves.
Elizabeth, sorry you are feeling so fatigued again. Hope the blood tests show what's causing it and you can get it sorted out. I'll keep my fingers crossed all goes well on Monday.
My GD came again today but didn't get much fixing done. The poor little thing is full of cold so spent a lot of time sitting watching tv. Her older brother broke 2 fingers a couple of days ago, playing rugby and we thought their older sister might have thyroid problems as my dil and her mum both have an underactive thyroid. Turns out she is borderline and is anaemic and is now taking iron tablets to see if that works.Christine0 -
Morning all ...
Kath I do feel for you, I find it nearly impossible to lie flat..and struggle with MRIs..I do hope the results are good..and will be thinking about you next week..not sure what that one is...but doesn't sound nice..
Mig the weather was the same here...there was quite a lot of damaged nearby but none here thanks goodness..
Elizabeth its good to see you posting but sorry you are struggling with fatigue and the scratching..and then the PIP medical I hope they dont downgrade Dan...good luck
Toni maybe the sludge has they call it has damaged the radiator..its corrodes them form the inside out...good that you are warm again..just in time to..this weekend is going to be cold..
Christine another brain and set of eyes is always good when it come to, notesyour poor little GD...hope she feels better soon..this time of the year is awful for colds and such...
Apparently its going really cold tomorrow..so out come my thermals...then I get over heated...so its a no win...
love to everyone...xxxxxxLove

Hello Barbara Kathleen Mig Toni Elizabeth Christine and anyone else I missed.
Barbara you are a nice kind person who always thinks of others as well.
Kathleen I hope the x-ray helps to find out about your problems.
Mig sorry about your shed I hope it does not cost too much.
Toni yes we had the wind but not that bad. its a bit blowy when we take the dogs out it makes them excited.
Elizabeth good luck with the blood test and on Monday with the pip medical.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick catch up post as my tablet says it desperate for a 'drink', so hopefully it'll last another couple of minutes.
Had a blood test this morning and don't think nurse was too pleased as its been 2weeks but I was away last week so nothing I could do about it. Have booked appt for next week like a good girl. Hoping to get results of bone scan when I see GP on Tuesday.
Sorry to hear a lot of you had problems with wind, we've been pretty lucky and got away with it - so far anyway.
Kathleen, hope the xray results help them sort your issues out.
Elizabeth, sorry to hear you're so fatigued - its horrid isnt it? Hope your blood test offers an answer and good luck with the PIP claim.
Toni, thanks for the PIC of Elfie. You're right that I haven't met him before. I take it he pops along around Christmas time to get us in the mood. I'm trying hard to start thinking Christmassy but we've still got 2 birthdays to sort out first.
Best go and give me and my tablet some lunch before we both expire from starvation!!
slomo0 -
Afternoon everyone
Slomo Elfie is Christine (applerose)'s. Sorry for punctuation errors  He is a cheeky little thing who does indeed get everyone around him Christmassy
I have two birthdays too yet one is my bro and the other is my youngest daughter who will be 18 on the 9th
Honestly nurse didn't need to make you feel bad!! I think you are entitled to be away!!
Hi JoanSue is so right! I love that the dogs get scatty in the wind! Daisycat came in earlier soaking and pretended she hates being dried in a towel, but she loves it really. She squeaks like a kitten and purrs
Barbara you would be proud of me! I noticed our radiator in the bathroom (above the L room one) was cold at the top 2/3 so I bled it and the L room one is now hot againCan I be your OH's apprentice??
Definitely chillier today. Nipping to supermarket now as Charley (bless her) is picking Lucy up from the salon this afternoon
Christine I hope your cholesterol is ok and you can keep having ice-creammy poor ex MIL has been put on statins and I'd hate that
I reckon it's good that nurse you saw being 'nosey' I'd call it thorough
I am borderline for thyroid too - I wish there was something I can do to keep it that way too ::) ((())) to your little GD and her bro.
Hello Elizabeth! are you SURE we aren't related?!! I love cream in ANY form too. My favourite is Cris' Cornish clotted. I have more cream than cakeYUM!!!
I am so sorry to hear you are so so fatigued((())) maybe you are anaemic?? Still hopefully the bloods will show something they can fix when you are up to having them done.
Best of luck with Pip assessment. I hope this doesn't sound wrong, but I sort of (sorry) hope he isn't having a great day so his problems are obvious.
Of course you have the kid's pressies done. You are an excellent Mum.
Love to you all
Toni xx
Ps hope cate and Toady are ok :?0 -
Hello everyone,
Haven't seen Emily yet, will ring her tomorrow, so I don't know what she has brought in today. You will have to update me. I'm sure you will all enjoy it.
I don't mind the pain in my back, it's the spasms that scare me. It feels as though they will never stop. :?
Slomo, I hope your bone scan is OK. I have my heart scan (echocardiogram) next Wednesday. Have I said this before?
Joan, you are so thoughtful of others without a mention of your own problems. I hope Sue is recovering and that your foot isn't causing too many problems before your scan.
Barbara, I hope your thermals keep the draughts out.
Elizabeth, oh those interminable blood tests to find the source of the itching. How I remember it. I hope they find the culprit soon. Are you already taking anti histamines? Mine help me drop off to sleep at night as I take 2 at bedtime. Chlorphenamine (Piriton). Good luck for your son's PIP medical. :?"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Barbara, I've heard it's going to get really cold. I've got thermals but I manage without them as I get overheated.
Joan, you are so right. Being negative doesn't help at all, does it?
Slomo, there isn't anything you can do about being away. You can't live your life around when they want to do blood tests. It's a friend of mine who has Alfie to stay from the beginning of December. Santa sends him to keep an eye on her little boy to make sure he is being good. Problem is, he gets up to so much mischief. My GS's birthday is next week and my niece's on 18th December. My sister needed a caesarian and was told it could be the week before or the week after Xmas. As she had been pregnant for the last 2 Xmases, she chose the week before. Hope your tablet enjoyed it's lunch and drink.
Toni, they might offer me statins but I'd rather not. I don't want to feel I can eat what I want as long as the medication sorts it out. My dil takes medication for her thyroid. When she feels tired, she ups the dose. Then my son has to ask her to lower it because she goes crazy doing all the housework from really early in the morning.
Kath, it is scary when your back goes. It does feel as if it won't get better. Hope it doesn't cause any problem when you have your heart scan.
Went for my blood tests this afternoon. As I had to fast, I didn't have breakfast or lunch till the middle of the afternoon. Normally I'd feel as if I was passing out but I was ok today. Results should be back by Tuesday.Christine0 -
ooh its cold out there...
Toni you did well there ...bet you would make a good apprentice..you might not be has furred up has you thought...
very nice of Charley to pick Lucy up...
Kath I hope the spasm's has eased they are scary...forgot to put the thermals on today..and boy did I know about it.... hope you are managing to keep warm..
slomo..did you enjoy your break away...and I hope your bloods and especially the scan bring good results for you
Joan you make me blush... :oops:hope you and Sue are keeping safe and warm
I had a voucher for M&S only to be used in store..so off we went took the wheelchair ..but gave up after seeing the queues so put everything back  proper sad I am ..I was getting makeup for me and Dil ..never mind..
I have toasted teacakes here and a pot of coffee and tea...just help yourselves..xxxxLove

Hi all, hope you're all keeping cosy on this horrid cold day. We've got rain here but it's only just rain- it wouldn't take much for it to become snow.
Barbara, yes I really enjoyed my break. We went to Glasgow and met up with our 2 sons and DIL who live there and my BFF who lives just a few miles from Glasgow. Hadn't seen them since April and have no family up here where we live so was really ready for a visit. Feel it has helped my overall state of mind too.
Christine, We've got our youngest son's birthday on 3rd Dec and our DIL's (married to our eldest) is on 2nd Dec. I think Christmas youngest was born was the best organised I ever was!
Kathleen, Hope you're heart scan goes OK on Wednesday. Have you mentioned it before? To be honest I can't remember for sure, sometimes I can hardly remember the end of my own sentences!! so don't take it personally. I'm hoping GP will have my bone scan results when I see him on Tuesday.
Was going to do some ironing this afternoon but not sure how I can smuggle the iron out of kitchen. OH has day off today and is in one of his cottonwool moods. ( i.e. he wants to wrap me up in it) I think I'll just grin and bear it and take it easy today. He's in full MasterChef mode in the kitchen just now. He's making smoked salmon ravioli with pesto and salad for tea and rounding it off with homemade panacotta with bramble coulis. I'm glad we've got a dishwasher as he's not the tidiest worker. Looking forward to tasting the food though as he's a fairly good cook.
Love to everyone - apologies to those I've missed mentioning
