Hello all
Toni sorry you have a rotten cold, and a temp even worse..but what a time to get it...hope everyone helped out..and you all had a lovely time..especially having your sister and nephew there :areindeer: ...and yes I did sleep well...
Joan..like you said you can both do has you pleases...hope you both treated one another....you deserve it..
Today we went out for a while but we were diverted with floods..we dont have rivers..it was the drains not coping some were gushing water up...but nothing compared to the poor people further up in Cumbria and Yorkshire..
There are plenty of left overs in the fridge and trifle how we ended up with 3 ..I dont know... :xmas_confused: hope everyone had a good day...not seen Kath for a few days hope she is ok..Love

Toni, sorry you and Lucy haven't been well but glad you managed to have a lovely day. I managed to find some cranberry sauce. When I took some things out of my 'Christmas cupboard', I found I already had a jar so I've got 2 now. :presents:
Barbara, the trifle would have been nice. By the time I got to my son's house, there was no trifle left. Fortunately, I had made some jelly and bought a few individual pots of custard and some squirty cream so I made up a trifle for myself with them. Hope your step daughter and her mum are feeling better now. I've never minded the house being a mess after family have been. It's a sign of having a good time.
Joan, hope you enjoyed Christmas day and today.
Toady, good to see you. Sorry the humira hasn't kicked in yet. Hope it does get sorted out in the new year. I hope I am turning somersaults by New Year. I've never in my life been able to before. :candycane:
I spoke to my daughter on Skype in the morning while I opened the presents she sent then I had Christmas dinner with my dad at the care home. Wasn't terribly good. Dad complained about everything and so did a lady sitting at the same table as us. The dinner was ok but cold. He did like the presents I bought him although the trousers were too small. I managed to spend a couple of hours at my son's while my GC opened the presents I got them so that was good. Spent a few hours today with them checking out the sales then went back to their house where my son had a Xmas dinner waiting for me to heat up.
I'll raise a glass to Val. Without her, we wouldn't have the cafe and I might not have met all you wonderful friends. xxChristine0 -

Hello all, Hope you had a better Christmas than I did. :xmas_cry: They only kept me in the one day, so I was back home for Christmas Day. Wasn't able to go to Jonathan and Rachel's for dinner, but they bought loads over on Boxing Day for us. It lasted us 2 days. Turkey, pigs in blankets, stuffing, parsnips, cauliflower, broccoli, swede mash, gravy. Christmas pudding. Still lots of Turkey left over for sandwiches. We were stuffed. Emily brought some shopping in for us, and Rachel will do some more tomorrow, so we are being well looked after. Chris has sciatica, and I can barely stand let along walk. I'm on Tramadol, Paracetamol, and Diazapam. While in hospital they aso gave me morphine and five more x-rays. I was away with the fairies. The thought of a hip replacement has always scared me, but now, bring it on.
Thank you for the hugs and good wishes. Much appreciated. xxx"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Barbara, the sun shone a bit this morning but it clouded over again. Our river has been flooding the fields for 3 days this time. Fortunately no houses have been flooded but cellars have. Just heard on the news that about 200 more homes are destroyed with river water in York. The road looked like a fast flowing river and it reached the tops of the cars. I haven't had egg and chips in a long time. Quite fancy some now.
Good to see you back Kath. Hope your pain is less now. What a lovely family you have making sure you are very well looked after. Hope Chris' pain eases soon.
I was feeling really sick at bedtime last night and had a dodgy tummy most of the night. I'm pretty sure it was either the big bag of crisps or the 10 Ll*ndor chocolates I had. Didn't dare go out till about 3pm then decided to walk to Ald* to get some things in for my son and his family coming on Tuesday. Got there to find it was closed as there had been a power cut. Walked to the High Street, another 20 minute walk, to find most of the shops there were closed with the same power cut. S*insb*rys just opened again as I got there but only for 15 minutes before normal closing time. At least there was food left on the shelves. Had to hobble most of the time as my hip decided to have a hissy fit.Christine0 -
Lost a post there yesterday :xmas_rolleyes:
I really must try harder.....or did I swear? :xmas_redface:
Anyway Kath it is good to see you backI am glad you are doing better now and hope Chris is too. My Lucy will also be likely to need hip surgery soon too so we can book you in together...maybe we can add Elizabeth too??
What about your hip after all that walking Christine (glad you got your bits),?? Does yours need doing? and Barbara is long overdue her 2nd....
Hang on a minute!
The café will be empty
Barbara - I feel a bit better this morning, (temp down :areindeer: ) less coughing in the night for me and didn't hear Lucy warming up wheatbags for hip or shoulder...thanks
We are off to the pictures this afternoon. Lucy, Charley, her gf and me. Tia is shopping with her bf.
Hope all is well in the Joan and Sue household. Did the doggies get any gifts??
Love to you all

Mig its good to see you, hope you had a lovely Christmas at your sons..
I forgot today would be an holiday and my prescription is due..so it will have to be tomorrow...and you have to wait 2 working days.. my own fault...
We have sweet stuff falling out the cupboards I have given 2 boxes of biscuits away...our GD has left loads that people bought her..not good when you want to cut down..so I will fill the cafe cupboards...help yourself...

It's awful, what is happening in Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire. All those poor people who have lost their homes and belongings. It's really not been like Christmas at all.
Sorry to hear of Lucy needing hip replacement too. Although it would be nice for us all to have a ward to ourselves, Lucy, me and anyone else who needs surgery. Joan, how do you fancy joining us?
Going to set up a shopping account with either T or A, not sure which yet. Also got to contact Social Services for some kind of help in the home. Not used to depending on people, but we've accepted that we have to now.
Oh I'm so glad I met you all now, you give me hope and strength to cope.
Happy New Year. :carolers: :presents: :areindeer: :candycane:"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Toni, I don't really know the condition of my hips but I think the pain actually comes from my lower spine. Back exercises do help. But maybe we should all book in together and get them all over and done with. Glad you and Lucy are on the mend. Hope you enjoyed the film. What did you see.
Barbara, I had a good night's sleep on Xmas night. Luxury. Didn't get any rest today. I went in to work then did some shopping as my son and his family are coming for lunch tomorrow. Sitting with my feet up now though.
Kath, I live on top of a hill and look down over fields as I walk in to town. The fields are completely flooded and I always stop and think of those poor people who have lost their homes. Our town hall is opening it's doors over the next few days to collect food, clothes, toiletries etc to be taken down to help out. It's good that you have asked for help. It should make things easier for you and Chris.
Joan, I always buy the doggies in our family a toy or bone for Christmas.Christine0 -

We are the hip gang! Yes count me in Toni. The only thing stopping me is leaving Daniel at home without me to care for him. the promised respite has still not been sorted ( from September).
I had a lovely Christmas. First Stef arrived and then Charlie messaged to say she was on her way for the day so I had all 5 children. We played Jackbox TV (internet word and drawing games) and loads of fun and laughter not to mention chocolate. Then Charlie came back with her boyfriend. I haven't see him for quite a few years. My Brother and his Girlfriend were here yesterday and they haven't seen Stef for about 10 years! Its all about the people this year and made for a lovely Christmas.
OH did get the last minute present Barbara- fitness weights. A neighbour had left some out in her garden (OH takes her garden rubbish to the dump) and we 'pinched them' as OH thought they'd been left out for the dump (I did say we should ask first), washed them and then she knocked on the door to ask if OH had thrown them out as they were for her Sister. So I remembered Jack had wanted them so we bought new set for him as a surprise. He was very pleased, not that I've seen much of him this holiday as he stays up all night on his computer and sleeps in the day!
So sorry to read you were in hospital Kath and in lots of pain. You do get to the point when the pain is just horrible and it seems you have reached that point.
Glad to see Toady popped in. I think we've lost Cate. I do worry that she's struggling.
Joan I'm sure the dogs appreciated their new gifts, they can ever have enough treats
Toni it is lovely you had 8 for Christmas, including your naughty Sister. Hope Lucy is feeling better and it didn't spoil things for her. I spent most of Boxing day in bed with the usual headache but luckily Steffi likes her own space too.
I'd like to add that Daniel got up early on Christmas Eve and watched Santa travel round the world for 24 hours! No idea how he managed to stay awake for that long!
Applerose shame that Dad's dinner was a bit cold so he's entitled to a moan along with the other diners. Hope you can exchange his trousers for a bigger pair.
Barbara chatting on the ward was the best part! We had a ball...
We got a new kettle too, a brand new Breville one cup as ours was leaking. Hope the floods didn't reach you.
Okay better post before I lose it all
Merry Christmas

Joan, yes I did have a good day thanks. Hope you and Sue did too. My daughter's dog's toys last forever but my son's dog has them chewed to bits or eaten in less than a day. :areindeer:
Elizabeth, it seems ridiculous how long it is taking to get your respite sorted. Hope it's not much longer. How wonderful to have all your children together and to see others you haven't seen in a while. How strange of your neighbour to leave the weights in the garden. Maybe she didn't have anywhere else to put them.
Barbara, I did have a good afternoon. My youngest GD brought her ambulance and doctor's kit. Never goes anywhere without it. And my two eldest helped me set up a chocolate fountain that my daughter had bought me a few years ago. It was quite messy. Chocolate everywhere.
Been through some of my cupboards and gathered together some toiletries I've not used, some shoes I've hardly worn and some tea towels I had in the drawer ready to take to our town hall tomorrow. It's open all week to collect things to take to York to help out the flood victims. Just today, they've gone down with 3 cars full. And someone has even donated a small caravan.Christine0 -
That's nice Christine. I would find it hard to return to a house once soaked in sewage but I know nobody has a choice really.
Did GD get a new Doctors kit?
When my brother was visiting I read some notes my late Mother had written and one said she waited 9 years for her first doll! Nowadays they get and expect so much.
I've almost given up on the respite! I never get a break so will hardly miss it.
I think she left the weights in the garden so her Sister could jump out of the car and grab them. Its just that OH takes all her garden rubbish away and it was same day!
Daughter went back to Newcastle today and has text to say safely home. I don't think the flooding has hit Newcastle. She's on a hilly bit too so would be okay.
Hope the new kettle is functioning well Barbara.
