Morning all very windy and wet here..
Christine that is a good idea to help the people that have been flooded, the thing that worry's me is, were do the ones with no family go..its horrible to be knee deep in water and no heat..glad to see you enjoyed your day..and playing doctors and nurses..
Toni the baby thinks its Christmas every day while the tree is up.. :presents: did you enjoy the cinema...I tend to fall asleep now...its my age...hope all is well ..
Elizabeth its awful how they are making you wait for the respite..you are not asking for much.... :xmas_rolleyes: yes the kettle functioning well..glad to see your daughters have arrived back safe and sound
Joan did you see the super vet last night..they had 3 dachshund puppys with poorly paw..they were adorable and they made them better..even the vet wanted to adopt one...
Its has gone black here and pouring down...there are pics of the flooding further down the rd from us..and the asda was closed it was half way up the door..we are so lucky here..but never known anything like it...
I was thinking of Cate I think she will come back when ready...
love to everyone. xxxxxxLove

Elizabeth, yes my GD got the ambulance with a doctor's kit and a tiny doctor's kit off me and someone else bought her one. She absolutely loves them. You neighbour is lucky your OH clears the garden. Anything left out here gets taken by the scrap men.
Toni, I took a suitcase of things round to our community centre this morning. They had opened up for a few hours. It's only round the corner so was easier than going down to the town hall. I stayed for a few hours helping to sort things in to boxes and bags of the same things. After just 1 hour, we had a car full to the brim and on it's way. A few more people turned up so there's another car and a half full. It had started raining really heavily and the wind was howling so I think it put people off. The town hall reported they had 3 van fulls on their way.
Joan, hope you don't have the weather too bad where you are.
Barbara, I think there are a couple of hotels who have let people stay and community centres. I've also heard that some people have invited people to stay in spare bedrooms. I've seen a picture of refugees helping out and the army drafted in. It's amazing how people will help out in these situations. It is difficult explaining to the little ones that Santa only comes once a year. One of my GDs ran in to mum's room to ask if he'd been on Boxing day morning. I've got 3 episodes of Supervet to watch. Tissues at the ready. Oooh and I'm wondering if I can adopt Noel. Apparently he's not married.
Hope everyone who hasn't been in today isn't doing too badly, especially Kath. Hope Cate is ok. Yes, I'm sure she'll call in when she's up to it.Christine0 -
Hello Barbara Christine and anyone else I missed.
Barbara no we did not see that programme I will look for it.

On my iPad as I can't cope with the laptop at the mo. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year. Thinking of all those suffering from weather, sickness, loneliness. Whatever the reason.
Can't remember whether I updated you or not. Arthritis is not causing all my pain. Osteoporosis with spinal compressions is the main problem. Now on morphine. DEXA scan being arranged, followed quickly by Alendronic Acid. Will probably have an MRI at some point. Apologies if I've already said all this, but at least I'm hopeful that I won't need a THR for a while yet. Love to you all. See you in 2016.

Aww Christine that is really heartening
. We have had some localised VERY VERY minor floods here, but nothing at all to worry about. We are on a hill and for once I am grateful!!
Tia's favourite program is supervet always brings me to tears! :xmas_redface:
Barbara we didn't get to the cinema because Lucy reckoned she and I would be kicked out with our coughing...... :xmas_confused: she has got a point!!
Good to hear from Christine that people are taking our flood victims in. The poor souls. What is dreadful is that it will be MONTHS before they get home
Joan so Pepper is the cheeky toy-chewer in your house thenGlad to hear you only have puddles too.
Kath - Lucy shouldn't need her hip replaced yet either. They will try a core decompression first if I am reading right in the hope the blood supply restarts. Can't do anything till chemo is done and dusted anyway  I was going to ask if alendronic acid might help her too.
See you n 2016 too
Love

Christine you are doing a good job there helping get the things to the ones that need it..it goes to show how in times like this people pull together...the very best of Britain...

Joan you look out for it..those gorgeous puppy's...and like Christine say and the vet...
Kath I hope the 2016 is much better for you...you have so much going on...I hope the MRIs show not much damage...
Hope everyone has a good evening we will pop into our neighbours and then come home and if I can stay awake will see 2016 in..hope its a good one for all of us...love to everyone..xxxxxxLove

Joan, it has been much brighter here. The news said it was just the calm before the storm though. My eyes are quite bad today. I'll ask my optician about it next week. Hope you are having a good evening.
Kath, hopefully you won't need to have to have the THR for a long time. Hope the meds sort out your pain.
Toni, I think Lucy did have a point about the coughing. Hopefully you'll get to see the film soon.
Barbara, hope Niamh feels better quickly and doesn't pass it on.
I called in to the town hall after work. it was packed full of things again today and 3 cars had already taken stuff. I had been interviewed about it yesterday for the radio but it wasn't broadcast. Only the woman who opened up our community centre for people to drop off donations. I went round to my sister's house about 7.30pm but only stayed till 9pm. Her ceiling lights were way too bright for me and the music too loud. Couldn't hear what people were saying so was glad to get back home.
A very happy new year to everyone. I wish you all contentedness and happiness. xxChristine0 -
Happy 2016 everyone
Christine it sounds as though your eyes couldn't cope with those bright lights
Yes Lucy was right our coughs are easing now we've given it to Charley instead :xmas_redface:
Shame you weren't on the radio I would have liked to have heard it!!
Barbara I do hope Niamh gets over her cough soon - it's not much fun as a grown-up
I hope you managed to see the new year in - I failed :xmas_rolleyes:
As usual!!
Anyway
Love to Joan, Kath, Elizabeth, Cate, Slomo, Toady and all the café dwellers

Hello Kathleen Toni Barbara Christine and anyone else I missed.
Kathleen i'm on a acid the liquid as I have a problem swallowing tabs.
Toni I was told if you rub v.k on your feet the cough goes that was by sue's carer.
Barbara I hope you had a nice time sue is put to bed at 9 00
I go after I have let the dogs out I get up at 6 00.
Christine since you said I nearly put Christmas in stead of Christine i'm pleased you spoke to the radio they were gratefull
for your help.
sue is in hospital I think she might have broke the leg she slipped as I was pulling her on the scooter I haven't got the strength in my arms I had so it was my fault. I wrote it on DD's happy new 2016
take care all and a happy 2016
joan xxtake care
joan xx0 -
Toni, no I can't cope with bright lights now, even sunlight. Poor Charley but it's just sharing with the family.
Joan, oops. I think it is easy to get Christine and Christmas mixed up. Oh no. Has Sue had an x-ray yet? Don't be blaming yourself. You do your very best for Sue and can't do any more than that. It's not your fault you don't have the strength. Not many people do. Hope you are ok. (((hugs)))
Couldn't decide what to do today. I usually visit my dad on Fridays but I feel worn out so might go tomorrow instead. My sister had a party last night and my other sister stayed the night so maybe they will go. I did just put the washing machine on as there are 2 weeks worth. :candycane: Might do some jigsaw now. Started it a couple of days ago.
Hope everyone has a good day.Christine0 -

Well done on the ironing Elizabeth. It takes me some doing to get back in to a routine after time off. Hope it's not too bad on Monday.
Barbara, they've just set off with the last of the donations for York and there are still at least 50 sacks of clothes left. The Great North Air Ambulance are collecting them. There were about 4 lots of fireworks here in people's gardens from about teatime till 11.30pm but nothing after. I managed to stay up. Don't know how. My daughter wanted to wish me a happy new year at midnight. I'd already wished her happy new year at 11am when it was there new year.
Toni, I'm enjoying the jigsaw. Once I start, I don't want to stop but as it's a big one, I need to or I'd do nothing else. Hope you are all getting some rest after Xmas.
Joan, I hope Sue recovers quickly and is back home before too long. I hope you are ok too.
I've taken all my decorations down and the tree (well apart from the 2 Xmas wreaths and 2 happy Xmas strings. Managed to get the tree back in it's box but it kept trying to spring back out so I've wrapped cellotape all round it. It will stay in there. :presents: Everything is in the spare room now waiting to be boxed up. That's a job for another day.Christine0 -
Lucy has NITS so had to wash all the bedding and towels and stick that special shampoo on Lucy's head.
I stood up for the ironing Joan-I must be mad. I've done all the school clothes too. My hip is not happy at all.
I'm also sure Sue doesn't blame you and I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, really it is hard work when you are unwell yourself. If anything you should be getting help.
Toni the new iron is much better but does leak when first filled up so I've made a mess of some clothes.
I saw in the New Year Barbara but safely from my bed. I stay up every year.
I will start on the tree and see how far I get. The dustmen missed us this year so we have 2 weeks of rubbish already and luckily OH put it in the garage as it has turkey?duck remains
It would be nice to donate the sweets Barbara.
got a tiny bit more online shopping to do...
Lots of love

Joan, I agree with everyone. Sue's accident was NOT your fault. You are the sweetest, kindest sister anyone could wish for. I do hope she soon recovers.
Sorry this is a short post. Sending everyone very best wishes, especially those of you who live close to the flooded areas.

Hi all, I've not been around much lately. Christmas and New Year seemed to take a lot out of me for some reason. We had a quiet time but I suppose last year I was still living in HealthyWorld and its only been 6months since I was diagnosed so still on the learning curve.
Had a major equipment failure last Sunday when the washing machine died, naturally it had a full load of towels in it. Fortunately I was able to get them out - had some strange idea in my head about wringing them out by hand - OK you can all stop laughing at the thought! Even OH couldn't manage it when he came home from golf. He did manhandle everything onto an airer and ordered a new machine on the Internet as I really can't manage without one, and we don't have a launderette nearby.
New machine came on Wednesday and OH thinks it the bees knees. It lights up like space invaders when it's on. OH has rewashed the towels and all the laundry that was lying waiting to be done, and I'm going to be in trouble when he gets in from work as I've just ironed two shirts. I hate that he needs to wear collar and tie for work as I hate ironing shirts but feel guilty letting him do it when he's been working.
Today's big question is - is my running nose a cold or an allergic reaction to OH's yoyo smoking? He's trying again to cut down as although he only smokes outside, the smoke is on him and in his clothes and in the morning I'm the one coughing. I'm really hoping this is just my sinuses clearing out the gunk. Still at least I'm still off work, no longer classed as on sick leave but on annual leave. I'm not half going to get a shock on 11/1 when I go back after 13 weeks off!
Sorry for the rambling, I do hope you're all hanging in there OK. Elizabeth I do sympathise with you re all the extra washing.
Love to all, I'm going to post this now as I think if I don't then I will lose it, it's acting a bit funny. Probably I've bored it to death!
All the best

Slomo you take care arthritis wears you out and it makes your body ache. I hope the washing machine works well and behaves its self.

Hello all, chucking it down here too. But I'm not going outside. I'm wrapped up warm and the morphine is helping a lot. I don't intend going outside until things have considerably improved. I'm even using my walking stick in the house. We have set up online accounts with T**co for food, and Ge**ge at As*a for clothes. Makes a huge difference, because I'm not allowed to carry any weight at all and I don't like OH carrying heavy bags either with his bad back. I've lost half a stone in 3 weeks. Glad I've lost it, but ot the way it happened. I do want to lose more though.
Sending you all love, good thoughts and best wishes. xx"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Hello everyone
Just a quick post as I am preparing to send Tia on her way back to University
ya boo
I hope Sue is ok Joan and you are feeling ok now too??
Kath great to hear you have made such progress - online stuff is really very sensible
Slomo - good to see you! 13 weeks of you'll have had? Do you think you'll be well enough to return? My 'new' washer is making a grating sound. Will did out the info and get it sorted this week. Good to hear yours is lovely now
Christine - I have to agree with Barbara - those poor people probably appreciate all you are doing more than you realise. Don't get addicted to your puzzle will you
Poor poor Elizabeth!! you must be totally SICK of nits!!! Poor Lucy too f course - lice means a good hair-brushing and she's like Charley was isn't she over hair brushing.
Good to hear the iron is a good one and hope it doesn't make a habit of leaking...
Barbara I bet you are so glad to have eldest GD back safe from London. I hope she had a good time and behaved herself :?
Love to you all
(don't worry If I am AWOL tomorrow it's chemo )
Toni xxx0 -
Elizabeth, I hope you get on top of Lucy's nits ok. They are a nuisance. Well done on getting the school uniforms done too. Hope the dustmen don't miss you again.
Slomo, hope you can take it easy for a while to recover from Xmas before you go back to work. It can take it out of you. Isn't it just typical for your washing machine to break while it is full. Towels are difficult for healthy hands to wring out. Glad your OH enjoys his new toy. :presents:
Joan, my dad thought Xmas was just like any other day. I think he was expecting it to be like it used to be but things change. I'll pass your message on. Thank you. Hope Sue's op went ok yesterday.
Barbara, did your GD enjoy her trip to London? I don't think there's any rush to take your tree down. Just when you're ready and maybe a bit at a time.
Kath, don't blame you not wanting to go outside. I don't unless I really have to. Online shopping is a great idea. You have lost a lot of weight quickly. I'm the same if I'm ill and lose weight. It's not ideal but I'm glad it's gone.
Toni, I hope Tia gets away ok. I'm sure you'll miss her lots but she'll be fine. Hope your washer isn't going wrong. Haven't done any jigsaw today. Hope Lucy's chemo goes well tomorrow.
I went for Sunday lunch at my DIL's parents today. Good to have someone else cook and to spend time with my son and his family. Back to work tomorrow and back to normal. I have enjoyed a little time off and could get used to it. :candycane:Christine0
