    Hi Tilly,DD Tony,
Thanks for your lovely messages, you are kind.
Tramadol is taking the edge off, but the wrist is very swollen. I'm finding that I cant sleep with the sling on, so prop arm up on pillow, even then I'm only managing 3hrs sleep tops.
Tony, if u can would u mind playing some good tunes on your decks later? Have a feeling I'll be up a bit tonight!
Thanks and hugs to all Xxxx

Hey Poppy, glad the cast is better now. How long have you to wear it?
Just another 8 week left in mine, we can at least keep each other company through the itching (Just stay away from the knitting needles  )

Take care and dont go falling down any more stairs.

    Hi bobbyger,
Unfortunately I've got no idea how long i'll be in this cast, it's my 2nd in 24hrs though! My PA is a bit of a problem as when I flare it's mainly my wrists fingers and thumbs that swell. Theyre keeping a close eye on me and I'm back at fracture clinic Friday to review and I guess take it from there, I've an appt straight after with Rheumy for first Humira injection...it's all go!
Thanks for your advice re knitting needles! Take care hugs Poppy X

Oh Poppy, what a nightmare. Hope the pain eases.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Glad you got the immediate thing sorted, Poppyg1rl. So, it's mainly a question of avoiding socks and knitting needles now? Come on, girl, you can do it.

Seriously, hope you're over the worst and you don't get any flares or more swelling. Just look pathetic and let the family take the strain. I know I would.

    Thankyou Sticky and Iris,
Sitting here trying to get comfortable, not easy. I've had everyone running round after me though, and have been spolit, my eldest bought some flowers for me out of his paper round money and its made my day. Have to admit to taking the tablets continuously, it's just such a sharp pain and throb I think I'd take anything if it would give me some relief !!
Thanks for your continued good wishes, need the hugs! Poppy X

    Hi Tilly and Cath,
Thankyou for the hugs, need them, painkillers don't seem to be doing much, and it's a different pain to the flare pain I get, it's just so sharp it takes your breath away. I think I'll have to let my Rheumy know about the break before I see the nurse on Friday, I just hope my Humira doesn't get delayed because of it, I'm meant to be starting Friday.
Ah well, back to trying to get comfy, still only managing 3-4 hrs before pain wakes me up or I knock the cast in my sleep.
Thanks again you are lovely people Poppy Xxx

    Hi Poppy,

Glad they changed the cast..... Shame they got that wrong!

I don;t know how much difference the arthritis will make but I always find breaks are climb the wall, feel sick pain for 48-72 hours and then as long as you don;t move it they ease off till the cast comes off.

i so hoe yours will do as mine and that in a couple of days time it will be so much easier for you.

    Cus you need them a (((((((((( )))))))))). Cris x

    Hi Tilly,
Thanks for keeping the hug bucket topped up, you are so kind, I'm very grateful.
The thumb keeps going into spasm, last time (about an hour ago) thought I was going to pass out pain was so bad.
Not sure what to do, have left msg for Rheumy nurse explaining what's happened, but not heard back so far. Really don't want to sit in a&e for hours again...
Thanks again for being there, hugs ((())) Poppy X

    Hi Tilly,
Oh where to start? Was just back at fracture clinic having been seen by my GP this afternoon. GP explained break is in scaphoid bone connecting thumb an that the cast has probably pinched a nerve. F/clinic have re cast arm again and it feels so much better, but oh my goodness the bruising! Wow never seen anything like it. Am v tired as the thumb spasms kept me awake so going to try and cook tea, take some trammies and go to bed asap.
Thankyou for keeping the hug bucket topped up, I'm so relieved, it's not too bad now, I didn't know whether the pain/spasms were 'normal as never broken a bone.
    Thanks again Poppy Xxx

    Hi poppy
Just popped in to see how you were doing. Well I am learning a lot of new words on this forum today relating to bones etc. (not that i will remember them)
So they recast your arm you poor thing but I am glad that it has made things more comfortable for you.

Hope you get some decent sleep tonight and you feel better tomorrow.
    Sending hugs(((((()))))))
    Take care
