    Gosh Poppy

I have only just read your postings... What a nightmare.. The pain sounds horrendous... Nerve pain can be excruciating...

I hope you have a better rest tonight.

Hi to everyone (far too many people to mention!) that sent advice, encouragement and more importantly hugs!
I'm pleased to say I had a good nights sleep! First since I broke my wrist last Friday. I have to go back to fracture clinic Friday after I have my Rheumy nurse appt an hour earlier so can I be cheeky and ask for double pocket duties Friday? I'm so hoping my Humira won't be delayed because of the break and also hoping that I don't need the wrist operating on (that's what the plaster technician said might happen yesterday)
Thanks everyone hugs to you all

    Hi Poppy,

Signing in for both pocket duties friday.

It might be a bit uncomfortable after the cast change but it wont be like it has been the last few days flower and in 4 weeks it will be mostly knitted together and then it has to harden. Hang in there and with a bit of luck last nights better night will be even better tonight. Don't use it yet though! Cris x

Hi Poppy, I am glad that you are feeling a little more comfortable. I broke my scaphoid bone in 1996! and have had trouble ever since! It is a notoriously difficult bone to treat - mind you things have moved on since then! I now have arthritis in the area and last year had very bad tendonitis in the area, again the hosp were in a dilemma - they wanted to put a plaster cast on to rest it but wouldn't due to the arthritis so ended up with a splint instead.(they wouldn't put the cast on cos they said that I would need long period of physio after if they did and as I alraedy have restrictions didn't want to make matters worse)
Will be with you in the pocket for both appointments on Friday
wishing you good luck and stop throwing clothes down the stairs lol

Hi Iris, Suzygirl, Cath & Cris,
Thankyou for pocket duties, I'm so nervous of anyone touching the wrist/thumb, so dreading being poked about for new cast.

Cath, nice to hear from someone who had the same break, did they put you in a cast when you first broke it?

Cris, thanks for your encouragement, it hurt like the blazes to begin with but since new cast yesterday and the thumb nerve sorted out, not too bad.

Iris, will gratefully have you in my pocket, I'm probably getting worked up about nothing, but really need to start the Humira and font want this to affect that.

Suzygirl, thankyou too for pocket duties and hugs
    You're all stars xxx

    Hi Poppy,

hey breaks really hurt to the point of being sick and possibly passing out but only for 48-72 hours..... It will not be like that again, promise

The cast change... you going for a coloured one? I made then use blue on me ... but I made them use fluorescent pink on my dog

You hang in there and don't be silly with it not matter how much better it feels.... it needs time to really harden up even after its come out of the cast for good.

Go for the fluorescent blue... its good... or the green.... Will be with you Friday ((( ))) Cris xx

    Thanks Cris,
I've got my eye on a pretty pink glitter one! Saw a girl in there with one and thought hmm, if I have to have a cast I may as well have a sparkly one! Think I was a magpie in previous life!!!
Thanks for all your knowledge Cris, I am still nervy of anyone going near me, but if you say it will be alright I trust you!
    Thanks again Cris x

I do hope that you have a quick and good recovery poppy. I fell down the stairs about a month ago, luckily didn't break anything.

Take care of yourself and have a really good nights sleep.

    Sending you plenty of hugs

I'm sorry I missed this thread, Poppy! I'm glad you had a better night. There's nothing worse than no sleep when you're in pain. I'm sorry you're going through this right now. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and much love being sent your way! x

    Hi Poppy
    Hope you are feeling ok
Yes I had a cast on for 6 weeks followed by a splint - which I still occasionally wear on bad days.
Not forgotten about your appointments on Friday so will be with you - Dont forget to let us know how you get on!

I'd take that as a sign from heaven that someone else should make the beds.

    Take care.
