Hello Joan and Sue,
I am so pleased you are back home Joan, it is awful when you cannot sleep properly and hopefully you will be able to catch up on some rest now you are back home. I hope you start feeling more comfortable very soon.
Gentle hugs,

Oooh dear, that doesn't sound too good Joan, what is going wrong? PM me if you like, I will do what I can to help, I am an old hand at injections! I fluffed my meth injection on Wednesday, for the first time ever, the plunger bit of the syringe jammed. It wasn't a nice experience, I can empathise with the experience. I hope today's jab goes better for you. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Phew, Joan! I can feel that needle!
I wish you better luck for today. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Welcome home Joan. It does sound like a lot of hard work keeping your foot off the ground. Don't know how I could avoid it.
Let us know how you progress.

Thank you Elizabeth
what i find awkward is holding my skirt up when i go to the little room so i do it with a peg you also feel worn out all the time i expect thats the anesthetic.
when do you have your op.

I see them in July about a date for hip and ankle. I am holding out as each month the children get a little easier and more independent. I am finding your posts and Bobby Ger and Pre fab kid very useful. I love the peg idea.

Hello Joan
Im just popping in to see how you are doing, I think you are so brave with the injections, I will have to get someone to do mine when the time comes
Love to you and SueLove

Hi Joan
Also just popping in (or is it hopping in?) to see how you are.Yes the anaesthetic does add to the tiredness,so does the pre-op stress (I suffered weeks beforehand) which comes out afterwards.
Sorry you are having problems with the injections,I am on Enoxaparin (40mg pre-filled syringes).Once you press the plunger fully down the whole syringe pops out, what are you on Joan (can PM if you wish)?
It is really amazing when you have a problem (like yours and the little room) how resourceful you can be (feels like a new thread coming on!).
So glad others find our experiences and postings useful,it's takes some of the mystery and hopefully worry when you can follow others progress etc. especially on a procedure that may be due to face yourself.
The next stage is next week!

Hi Joan,
glad you have escaped from the hospital and all went well.
GAs take awhile to get out of the system and on top of that it takes awhile to catch up on all the lost sleep.
You saying about pegging up your skirt reminded me I used to peg my dress up at the front when going up and downstairs on my crutches, so I didn't trip on it. Amazing how versatile and good at problem solving we become.
Ooh those dreaded jabs .... they (and the TEDS) were the bain of my life!
No touching the floor with the foot for 6 weeks ... then what? Is the plan gradual weightbearing or will you be able to weightbear as much as your ankle allows?
Hope the weather improves for you,

Hi Speedy.
after the 6 weeks i will be able to put my toe or heel on the ground i dont know what one it will be yet.
i have had the fusion in the front of my foot and my big toe put straight.
i hope things are good for you.

Hi joan
Just jumping in to see how you are. From what I have read it seems you are doing quite well. The jab that took four times must have made you a little sore. Hope you have been able to do it in one today. As you say, practice makes perfect.
I think you are very brave to even attempt it.
Take care and get plenty of rest.
Thinking of you

Joan, this might not be relevant but just in case.....
When I had my first TKR in 1981 you had to keep the leg elevated for 10 days. By the time I was allowed to walk I found it so difficult & painful I thought I'd never walk again. It was because I hadn't been using that leg/foot/ankle. It did start to work properly fairly quickly but I was so disheartened that first time.
So, this is just so's you'll know that, if yours is difficult at first, it doesn't mean it won't work - just that it may need a bit of time to sort itself out.
As for pegging your skirt up - sheer brilliance! That should go on the 'Simple Ideas' thread. One of the reasons I wear trousers all the time is 'cos I can't hold a skirt up while pulling the rest down.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thank you Stickyw
i have a tkr what i have had done is a tripple fusion and my big toe straightened.
i think one day i will finish the inj it will come.

Collywobble! How often do you need to peg your skirt up when going round the house??? I think we should know.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
