I am in Dublin now waiting for my daughter to give birth. I wasn't supposed to go over as I got to see my grandson first and it was my son-in-law's parents turn to see the new baby first. They arrived last Friday but, unfortunately, Gary's mum's mum died on the Sunday so they had to go home.
Nikki has had quite a few pains but nothing is happening yet. Her due date is next Thursday. Tyg was 6 days early so we were hoping this baby won't be late.

I hope so too, Applerose. I still remember the suspense of the other recent forum grandchildren. I hope it all goes well and smoothly for everyone.

Sorry to hear of the family's bereavement...would that have been baby's Great Grandad?? Not very good at working stuff like that out

Thank you for all your replies.
Toni, she would have been baby's great grandmother. She was in her 80s and went in her sleep so didn't suffer. She even had a party to say goodbye to all her family and friends.
Barbara and Ruby, how are your grandbabies doing now?
Well, we are all still here. Poor Nikki can hardly walk she is in so much pain. She has that thing with the pelvis (can't remember what it's called).
It has been fun though playing with my grandson who is 16 months now. He is really funny. Mum and Dad are called Ma and Da. These are interchangeable. I am also Da and so is the dog, Mango, although his name gets shouted. Went to the playpark today. Tyg loved going on the slide.

Wonder if we'll get through the night. Nikki and Gary have decided tomorrow sometime would be good.

I'm now waiting impatiently for news of the birth, Applerose. I hope all will go well for Nikki.
I love the name Tyg. Is it an Irish name :?:

    Thank you.
Joan, Nikki and Gary both dive and swim with sharks so wanted a name that had something to do with sharks. Nikki jokingly suggested Tiger (as in tiger shark). Gary thought that was a great idea but was convinced not to call his son that. Tadgh (pronounced Tyg in Ireland) is an Irish name but they were worried that in the UK it would be pronounced like tadger so they compromised with a mixture and a different spelling. We've since heard of a few people called Tiger as their forename.

Lexy, it seems such a long way off but baby will be here before you know it.

I am glad she dies in her sleep and sounds to have been 'ready to go baby's Great-grandma.

Tyg sounds a proper character "Da"

With him there the days must pass quickly :D Even if you are waiting for a baby. I hope he/she comes sooner though for Nikki's sake - that pelvis things is no joke at all :(

    Love

Nikki had a check-up at hospital today. The head has disengaged so she has been told to go back next Tuesday. Her due date is Thursday so they will induce her 10 days later if necessary.
A new flatpack tv stand arrived today and Nikki insisted on putting it together herself. It didn't work. Baby stayed put.
Tyg seems to know. He talks about baba all the time. He even knows the baba will go in the car seat. We went to the park for a walk and watched the ducks (which looked like seagulls to me).

    Hi Aprilrose,

I hope she will go into labour soon but the last bit is the worst eh?

The ducks this way often look like seagulls as well

Really hope it will all go well and you will soon have your grandchild Cris x

    Thank you.
A flatpack shoe cupboard turned up today and Nikki was determined to put it together. She also emptied and tidied some cupboards and drawers, took me to the d-i-y store to buy a few things and is still sorting through drawers etc. Hoping this is a sign it won't be long.

Nikki's definitely got the nesting instinct, so I'm sure you will give us the good news about the birth soon, applerose. :D

The house has been scrubbed clean today. Don't think there's anything left to do. Nikki is bouncing on her birthing ball at the moment but still nothing happening.
