Thank you Lexy. Eerm, when Nikki realised she was in labour, she had a quick shower and asked me to make them something quick to eat. She only had a couple of mouthfuls while Gary went upstairs to get her bag then shouted for him to hurry up. She needed to go straight away. It's a half hour drive to the hospital so I was very relieved to get a text from Gary to say they had checked in.

    Thank you everyone.

Well, once Nikki was checked in (at 6.05pm) and changed in to her nightie, they examined her and told her that she was only 2 cms dilated and she should go for a walk. She refused to, telling them that she was in too much pain. They agreed to let her sit in the waiting room. She then needed to go to the toilet. Gary went with her to make sure she was ok. She had to use the public toilets where the door was broken. Gary saw her straining but she wouldn't answer him when he asked if she was ok. A passing midwife saw them and rushed in. Nikki couldn't believe it when the midwife put her hand underneath her and told her to stop straining. She was telling the midwife to leave her alone. After a minute, the midwife managed to get Nikki to kneel on the floor just as baby popped out (at 7.50pm). Nikki didn't get to the delivery suite, didn't have any painkillers, not even gas and air as there wasn't any on the ground floor. Baby Nyv (pronounced neev) weighed in at 9 lbs 13 ozs.

I squirm every time I think about it. Nikki and Gary keep looking at each other and saying, 'Did that really happen?' or 'Oh my goodness, we have 2 children now.'

It was lovely getting up at 7am every morning to get Tyg his breakfast and play with him. He is 16 months old so runs around and is in to everything. It was great fun. He has always wanted his own 'baba' so thinks Nyv is great, although doesn't like it sometimes when mum or dad pick her up. he'll soon get used to that though.
