Whoever she picks (Alistair Cook could be one) will probably have to wear lycra. (She'll also need a passenger seat for mig.)If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I don't think it would be safe for Mig to be sitting so close the a Lycra clad bottom. I love the sedan chair idea!Hey little fighter, things will get brighter0

Talking of which - well, nearly - has any Commonwealth Games viewer noticed the unfortunate position that the poor, rear, racing tandem cyclists have to get into :shock:If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I honestly don't know what to say. Once I've stopped laughing I'll return with something resembling an answer. It has, however, made a cracking start to another busy day, thank you one and all. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Update. Last night I 'fessed up to 'im indoors about the fall and that was a mistake and a half. He still (after eighteen years of this increasingly intrusive nonsense) cannot face the fact that his wife is on a hiding to nothing whereas said wife accepts it: I'm living with the joint damage in a rather different way, yes?
Tonight we ate in silence, not only for this but for one or two other silly reasons. I need the patience of a saint but, honeys, I ain't no saint. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
I find that hard to believe. St. DD has a certain ring to it

Sorry to hear this DD, or should I say St DD? Sometimes it's hard to know what to do for the best. Tell the truth or keep quiet? I must admit I don't tell my OH everything, but then again I haven't had anything quite so dramatic as your fall.He did not say you will not be storm tossed, you will not be sore distressed, you will not be work weary. He said you will not be overcome.

He's witnessed a few falls, Slosh, and he knows how hard I land. What he hasn't witnessed is all the other tumbles . Mostly I trip due to faulty knees, ankles and toes, but this was one where my right knee just packed up. Another cause for the silence was the fact that the skip won't be collected until Friday due to a lorry breakdown. I endured the inevitable mam-rant (middle-aged man rant) and didn't even try to answer his unanswerable questions which ran along the lines of 'Why did they ring you? Don't they have other lorries?' I sat there thinking that Friday was fine by me because that gives me time to find some more contributions towards its contents.
I'm going out for lunch today with a retired rheumatology nurse - way to go, Daisy! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

Enjoy your lunch. Seems as though the timing is perfect. He did not say you will not be storm tossed, you will not be sore distressed, you will not be work weary. He said you will not be overcome.

Lunch was (eventually) lovely; apparently my friend is semi-retired and today was one of her days in the orthopaedic department. Thanks to the vagaries of the over-stretched-under-funded-creaking-at-its-knees NHS she was two hours delayed leaving her shift (and no, wont' be paid for the same) so we didn't eat until very late but it was worth the wait. I'm going back to the same pub tomorrow with two old friends (I've known them for 25 years now) and will take a cushion because my sacros have ramped up to stupid levels.
We were talking about the stress of dealing with patients - ye gods, some of them really take the biscuit. My favourite was the woman who refused to take a calcium supplement because it didn't come with a leaflet detailing side-effects. Her reasoning? 'I won't know which side-effect to have.' Apparently she specialised in side-effects, she once said to my friend (who I will name Zed) 'I have had every side effect listed with this drug!' Zed said 'No, you haven't, because you haven't had sudden death.' Zed was duly reported to the authorities who had the good sense to find in her favour.
It's an eye-opener to hear about things from the other side of the fence. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
I always thought Rheumy patients weren't like that because we were all repeat visitors and not angry drunks in A&E. I must be naive - ill pop back to lala land and Lycra bottoms now. Don't forget your cushion and I hope the icy silence has thawed with im indoors!Hey little fighter, things will get brighter0

Rheumatology patients are no different to other patients, some get on with it, others decide to do the dying-duck-in-a-thunderstorm thing in fine style. Zed was dealing with another 'I have RA and my life is over' patient yesterday who is 'struggling' so much with meth ('A drug they use in cancer treatment! 'she squealed ) that she has had to stop work and buy a scooter because she cannot walk due to chronic pain. She is also waiting to see if her BB application will be successful. She had nagged her long-suffering rheumatologist into ordering Xrays to check for joint damage, hence her being in orthopaedics. Zed takes 20 ml injected meth, has deformed joints all over and is still working and will not have a BB. This woman is on 5mgs  and was utterly disgusted with the ortho when he told her that her joints are absolutely beautiful. According to her he doesn't know his job. It must be tough to be polite to someone who is so determined to be ill.
I reckon there must be some underlying issues, possibly mental-health related, which is why she is reacting in this way. Mind you, some enjoy ill health, don't they? It brings them attention and sympathy. I can't stand either. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
I have a feeling I will be sharing an office with someone who "enjoys ill health" come September. She's had nearly as much time off as me this year for a whole host of things. She currently has an orthapedic boot on one foot due to a torn tendon and came back for the last couple of days of work but made so much fuss that I think she'll be back for a couple of days in September and then go off again. Don't think she thought I gave her enough attention/sympathy.He did not say you will not be storm tossed, you will not be sore distressed, you will not be work weary. He said you will not be overcome.
