JAK inhibitors and Tocilizumab
Anyone have any insights on JAK inhibitors or Tocilizumab?
Having manage my RA successfully since 2004 and able to do a very stressful and physically demanding emergency services role, but since 2017 found my combination of DMARDs less effective and had to be enhanced with biologics with mixed results. The above suggested as a replacement for biologics. In flare lower legs and ankles since Xmas and of course sheilding so any insights appreciated.
On the upside 2nd Pfizer jab on Friday and Im listening to music Ive managed to transfer music onto lap top and making progress with an Alexa device. Living the dream...☺️

Hi @GeorgePS - Welcome to the online community!
I see you've had Rheumatoid Arthritis for a while and have been managing it OK, but recently your combination of DMARDs hasn't been as effective, you tried some biologics and now your doctor is suggesting you try JAK inhibitors or Tocilizumab instead of biologics.
We do have some information which may be of help to you. To be clear, Tocilizumab is a biologic itself, it's apparently suggested if your RA is severe or if you haven't responded to other DMARDs.
JAK Inhibitors are apparently quite new, and can be taken as a tablet (unlike the biologics). There are two available on the NHS - Tofacitinib and Baricitinib.
Good news on your Vaccination! And if you want any help with tech (re: Alexa) give me a shout as I love my tech!
Have a look around and join in other discussion. We're a friendly bunch!
Lovely to meet you,
Shell
