What causes this pain?
A few weeks ago, I had gout, but currently, I do not have it, and my uric acid levels are normal.
Now, I experience a sharp, throbbing, burning pain that periodically manifests around the left metatarsal area. My doctor diagnosed arthritis after reviewing my X-ray, but I am somewhat skeptical since the pain appears to be at the skin level. This pain does not correlate with my physical activity or sleep patterns; it is sporadic and random. There is inflammation around that area.
Please share your advice. Thank you.

Hi @Xavier thank you for posting and welcome to the community!
sorry to hear you're having such trouble with pain, hopefully someone else who can give some better tailored advice to your particular situation will come along. However, it is important to note that only you and/or your doctor can figure out what exactly is causing your pain - I recommend approaching your doctor with your concerns. I have also attached some links which you may find useful.

Hi, my husband was treated for gout but the meds made no difference. It was assumed it must be OA but, again, no joy. He then saw a podiatrist just to have his nails clipped and she found à little infection behind the nail. Sorted.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
